I've gotten a program to help recover old files. With luck, I can bring the Halflings / Lizardmen / Dark Elves / Frostlings / Azracs / new armors / new creatures back in.
Also make sure to put 1 point in reading if you're going to do this, because otherwise you won't be able to read it.
I can see it now. As the bloodied adventurer claws his way to the top of the tower, teary-eyed after cleaving through the reainmated corpses of his fallen companions, he finally catches a glimpse of the tomes that bind life and death. As he delicately brushes eons of dust off the leathery cover, his eyes widen in awe...as he puts his finger under the title and says: "Te...Th....The Tru...tru....truthe to lieeef and De....Dea....Daya....Deafuck it". Urist Mcilliterate strikes Urist Mcilliterate in the head with the book 'The Truth to life and Death', breaking the skull and bruising the brain!
you can put as many creatures as you want under that new entity, tho im not sure how you make it so you start off as one of those weird non-races, like undead/demons/necromancers/werebeasts.
night creatures and demons and the like are generated when you create the world, and you can't play as them as far as I know. if you ever get chased by a bunch of bogeymen, you should look at their descriptions. there's usually around 10 unique bogeymen types in each world. if you really wanted to play as them, you could look at their description and make a new creature that has the same traits as them.

Man this game is fucking great. I have discovered the best 3 weapons:
Looks like brains aren't tough enough yet. Gonna remake the mod within the week
Looks like brains aren't tough enough yet. Gonna remake the mod within the week
You don't think it's more a matter of thrown objects being ridiculously powerful no matter what they are?
Been playing Dwarf Fortress for years. Time for an ACTUAL adventure, where I don't quit after 5 minutes. Since I'm eating strawberries and drinking wine... I'll go for human.
Looks like brains aren't tough enough yet. Gonna remake the mod within the week
Can't say I agree. aside from the fact that thrown is broken, heads are incredibly durable and can take quite the beating now.
Can't say I agree. aside from the fact that thrown is broken, heads are incredibly durable and can take quite the beating now.
Concerning kicking: A bogeyman just kicked me in the head repeatedly until I died. I heard "eching" around me or something, then it showed up and slapped my shit. There goes my first character.

Alright how long do I have to wait at the calendar screen?
Alright how long do I have to wait at the calendar screen?
Two ingame weeks, takes forever for me on anything but really small worlds.
Two ingame weeks, takes forever for me on anything but really small worlds.
it started 2 minutes ago. I'm at day 4. I hope it doesn't go exponentially slower or something like that. Oh sweet it just went to day 5 as I'm writing. I'm on an old computer though.
Thing is, -all- beings are generated on world creation, it's just that for some reason night creatures and the like are generated using some janky ass algorithm that no one understands :v:
I understand that every creature is generated, but bogeymen aren't just a static creature like a boar or crow. I don't really know where to find bogeymen in the raws, if they're even there.
Cackling. Which is just creepy laughter. You need a companion with you to not get killed by bogeymen. I really wish bogymen weren't a thing TBH.
You can now simply climb up trees to escape them.
Can you fasttravel somehow?
A black hole is less dense than that king's head. Demons are usually fucking huge & evil-looking. Lies can only get you that far. Must've worn a fake mustache or something. Somebody draw this.
Way, way, waaay late, but I just have to give that one a go: [T]http://i.imgur.com/dITyylW.png[/T] 'Pologies for my half-assedness and shitty scanner quality.
Is there any way to prevent people from incessantly chatting you up in Adventure Mode? I'm trying to sleep so I can get past night and avoid those dose fukken boogeymen, but people keep talking to me and forcing me to chop their heads off so I can get some sleep. Bunch of weirdos, lying stacked on each other like pancakes.

Even my invincible shit wrecker Bronze Colossus only managed to kill 2 of them after like 10,000+ turns of missing and pointless grabs. Even with easy strikes they have a 99.9% chance to just dodge it no matter how accurate you're trying to be. I don't understand why they exist at all.

God I wish I could build a shack or something. Little happy cabin in the woods.
Once again, you can easily just climb a tree.
Can't you just make a campfire for bogeymen to disappear? (haven't tested) alternatively, remove them from Worldgen
Can't you just make a campfire for bogeymen to disappear? (haven't tested) alternatively, remove them from Worldgen
I'll probably eventually stop being too lazy to do that. As for the campfires, they can't -get- to you past the campfires, but you also can't sleep or move (this was in a ring of campfires; they WILL show up either way). Leave the ring even for a second and you will not be safe again.

I believe I once managed to kill all the bogeymen attacking me. It was a huge accomplishment. Then a lion killed me.
