Are there any utilities or commands in game that I can do to channel an area easier? having to carve out each floor is getting really tedious and takes up a great deal of time.
you realize if you press Z you can also wait, right? it's the same thing. you can't sleep if it's not safe
Trees are considered safe, they won't wake you up if you're sleeping in one.
Hey guys, are there any entities you can play as that as strong or fast as a terraformer? I don't know if the titans are this strong, but I want to play as something that can easily pull the head off of someone and then smash everyone else up with it. Here's some pictures for reference: (Slight Terra Formars spoilers, but I doubt you guys read manga anyways) http://www.batoto.net/read/_/160657/terra-formars_v3_ch9_by_display-none/8
These immediate post-release crashes always manage to get me. Since it's 40.03 I decided to get a bit bold, so I made a more permanent character. I randomly generated her name until I found Arazi Warancient, which I changed to Warchild (which narrowly lost in a dice roll to Warfaces) and set out into the world. I started in a hamlet called Onslaughtface which is nearby Murdershovel. Founded by The Realm of Nations which has been in a bitter war with The Long Skunks, an elven civilization. After some initial losses that culminated into a great battle for Murdershovel itself, The Realm of Nations launched a series of brutal counterattacks that have been steadily pushing the elves back. Their last bastion, Dyebeast, was conquered just last year, and it's current population is two human settlers. For unknown reasons certain groups have laid claim to Murdershovel since even before the siege, and today there's fourteen groups vying for control in the streets and in the sewers, some of them led by close relatives of the local lord, Artuk Swallowedtaught. This is where Arazi comes in. Having arrived in Murdershovel, Arazi was immediately attacked by some random reptile woman after she said hello to the human outsider. Defeating the reptile woman, Arazi was informed that there's apparently a goddamn civil war going on, further inquiries revealed the reptile woman to be the former leader of one of the factions. Figuring the best place to look for rebel scum was the sewers, Arazi went into the winding tunnels under Murdershovel and had all sorts of interesting encounters. Apparently some dumbshit peasants wandered down there and died, and then there were dead elves (presumably thrown down the shitter after failing to capture Murdershovel and being captured themselves) and one random honey badger. Unfortunately, Arazi was never much of an acrobat and she lost her footing after jumping across a chasm. Falling deep underground, Arazi found herself face to face with a giant cave spider who was in the middle of sucking the brains out of some dumbass troglodyte. Sensing that the spider wasn't friendly, Arazi promptly stabbed the fuck out of it and butchered the corpse for delicious spider bacon. Amazed that she didn't explode into a shower of person bits from the fall, Arazi needed to find a way up that didn't involve climbing up a huge goddamn hole and risking her luck a second time. Fortunately for her, the underground labyrinth of caves and tunnels provided ample opportunity to eat, and at one point she found water that wasn't stagnant. What would become a week of wandering eventually led to a small criminal hideout, one she had heard of before, and the only thing standing between her and the bright blue sky was a bunch of dumbshit goblin wrestlers and elkbirds. Having killed fucking everything smaller than a cave dragon while she wandered the depths, these few opponents did not test her skill and soon she was outside. At that point, I felt fucking amazing, so I decided to save and then continue after getting something to eat. (it had been hours of intense DF action, I worked up an appetite) When I came back to load, however, I noticed Dwarf Fortress had crashed in the middle of saving. I felt like I had died a little bit right then.
Cackling. Which is just creepy laughter. You need a companion with you to not get killed by bogeymen. I really wish bogymen weren't a thing TBH.
You can edit the number of bogeyman types during worldgen. I was unbelievably pissed when bogeymen were introduced, but when I found out that little feature while generating a new world... oh, my plans for fortresses were put on hold. [editline]15th July 2014[/editline] These days I like the bogeymen, because they add additional levels of Fun.
I have never used throwing before now, and I have to say that it is my new favorite thing: [editline]15th July 2014[/editline] I don't even need a bow or crossbow! My throws are too OP
oh necromancers
Uh what the fuck, so I meet a night creature, the Ogress of Twilight. And I make her my companion. We roam around a bit and stop by a river. I decide to wait for an hour for my stomach to get empty. I see her icon go from a @ to Ñ and then: What the hell, I thought we were best buddies.
it is terrifying I assume she either glitched out or somehow past thoughts got to her and she got mad at all humans/dwarves whatever you are?

I heard of plans to assassinate Swebonny
why do dwarves like to drown themselves so much
I heard of plans to assassinate Swebonny
It was inevitable.
two of my dwarves killed themselves after being trapped on the other side of the river. rip

Probably because of a glitch I got a King for no reason (I was nowhere near the requitments for a monarch to appear). So I just dropped him into a 1x1 dungeon and left him there to die. When he died another person became king... Then I gave him mining labor and ignored all of his needs, which turned out to become a terrible mistake. It cost my fortress after he went on a rampage with his pickaxe, killing 9 dwarves and leaving the fortress to descend into a tantrum spiral. :suicide: He was the last dwarf left out of 60 with no injuries.

In Dwarf Fortress, nobles who earned their positions really did earn them.
Is there some sort of trick to finding the exit to a generated fortress as a dwarf adventurer.
Just take any stairway or ramp that goes up. If it leads nowhere double back and choose another one.
Does anyone have the link to that indev version of Dorf Therapist that worked with the newest update? I saw what was implied to be a link to it but I can't find it.

so i just modded in a race of obsidian golems with magma for blood this is a power not meant for mortal men
A merchant got stuck up a tree then went berserk now I lost 6 dwarfs and a pet goat. Dwarfs are too pussy atm they just get scared flee and then lay down waiting for death instead of fighting an easy opponent.
Are there any mods or such that can give me whatever equipment I desire in adventurer mode? I want to roleplay as a character, but finding shops is hard.
Are you using a specific mod for your Kobold fort or did you just mod 'em in yourself?
I'm using masterwork mod, the newest version allows for dwarf, orc, kobold, gnome, warlock and succubi fortresses. Each fully fleshed out and with different playstyles.
