[sp]I believe the clowns are heavier than the drawbridge limit, which I think disassembles the drawbridge if you try to atomsmash them.[/sp] Not certain though.
[sp]How effective is atomsmashing vs the clowns? They can't destroy bauxite drawbridges/mechanisms with their custard pies, right? I'm imagining some very dwarfy system of drawbridges here.. hmm[/sp]
[sp]I believe you can't atom smash the large procedurally generated clowns, they simply break the bridge.[/sp]
[sp]I thought the point of those words was so that we didn't need spoiler tags[/sp]
[sp]I believe you can't atom smash the large procedurally generated clowns, they simply break the bridge.[/sp]
Darn. Wellp, at least it'll work against Elves!

Clowns carry seltzer water for a reason, y'know.

why are people spoiler tagging things in a dwarf fortress thread there is no storyline to speak of
The clowns are the end of the story. THe ultimate fun
The clowns are the end of the story. THe ultimate fun
Well, unless you somehow embark near a spire and earn the ire of the mimes.
Oh wait now I think I know what you're talking about. Now I just feel disappointed.
why do i always embark at places with no iron ore this is the worst
why are people spoiler tagging things in a dwarf fortress thread there is no storyline to speak of
Yes it does. It has whatever story to want it to have, built around its procedurally generated history. The best story.
why are people spoiler tagging things in a dwarf fortress thread there is no storyline to speak of
there are certain game "secrets" and easter eggs. Seems like toady likes and is probably going to add more "hidden fun stuff".
yeaaah eat shit giant that migrant wave you slaughtered half of was just bait to tire you out, all according to plan
there are certain game "secrets" and easter eggs. Seems like toady likes and is probably going to add more "hidden fun stuff".
I sincerely hope Toady doesn't add more Hidden Fun Stuff. Hidden stuff is okay.
There's this dude in my fortress who keep putting seeds in a barrel next to my little farm. And then when he's done there's another dude who isn't so appreciative of his work. So the guy goes and takes the seeds out of the barrels and puts it back into a stockpile. Then the cycle repeats. :v:
there are certain game "secrets" and easter eggs. Seems like toady likes and is probably going to add more "hidden fun stuff".
I looked up hidden fun stuff on the wiki and it autodirected me to the Carnival. What hidden fun stuff is there besides the Carnival?
I looked up hidden fun stuff on the wiki and it autodirected me to the Carnival. What hidden fun stuff is there besides the Carnival?
[sp]Forgotten Beasts I guess. And the new Spires and Vaults in adventure mode, as well as the temples and crypts.[/sp]
I suppose there is also [sp]underground fortresses that lead to hell, filled with undead and demons.[/sp]
I suppose there is also [sp]underground fortresses that lead to hell, filled with undead and demons.[/sp]
[sp]Isn't that the circus?[/sp]
[sp]Isn't that the circus?[/sp]
[sp]Pretty sure the circus is Hell itself, not the fortresses.[/sp]
Is everyone else's forts made up of old dwarves? My youngest dwarf is 59 years old, I'm a few years into the fortress and have had 0 children so far.
Is everyone else's forts made up of old dwarves? My youngest dwarf is 59 years old, I'm a few years into the fortress and have had 0 children so far.
Dwarves live for a very long time, much longer than Humans. 59 is young-ish for a Dwarf. The lifespan for a Dwarf is around 150-170 years old. [editline]20th July 2014[/editline] A 59 year old Dwarf is roughly equivalent to a 30 year old Human (assuming Humans live for 80 years)
Woah, Goblins attacking me very early, damn. I have no weapons or military. What do i do? D:
Woah, Goblins attacking me very early, damn. I have no weapons or military. What do i do? D:
Axes and pickaxes work. Draft a quick militia if the attacking force isn't too big. [editline]21st July 2014[/editline] I mean, they might just run away, but getting some of your dwarves killed is less bad than getting most of them killed.
I think I'm too picky with embark locations..
Picky about finding a safe, resource-rich embark, or a nightmarish deadly one?
I just look for a place without an aquifer,I can make do with everything else.

The leader's squad was The Mountainous Women, not a great sign. Had 30 dwarves ready. No weapons, no armor. They proved worthy of their squad's name. Everyone suffered horrible and bloody deaths. For some reason a lot of dwarves ran into a pond and drowned themselves.
Picky about finding a safe, resource-rich embark, or a nightmarish deadly one?
Just the general geography of the area - I tend to go for sites with a river for easy fish and fresh water I can pump around to places, and some nice sheer cliffs I can tunnel into and fortify the heck out of. Not all that fussy otherwise; Goblins/Zombies/Elephants are Fun, after all.
