I've never actually played DF with Truetype text. Maybe I should? It takes up less space and is somewhat more readable, even if I don't use a tileset.
I'm going to guess that when she grows up she's going to slaughter the shit out of all the elves she can find because they're guilty of two things in her book: liking nature and killing her mom. Haha oh wow. My 10 militant dwarves died to 20 incubus invaders. They killed off more than 70 dwarves, but fuck me, as soon as they entered the fort, they decided to go mess with my pasture area... and boy oh boy, what a baaaad idea. These mammals are HARDCORE I'm telling you. Killed two of the incubi, and the rest fucking SCATTERED OFF. Best cows ever. They should be named lords of this mountain capital.

War turkeys on the other hand are hilarious and pretty damn effective, also danger room training a duck.
I can imagine. It literally doubled my fortresses wealth. Edit: Ohai vampire
For a vampire, he seems a pretty swell guy.
Looking through the legends I found a Female Kobold Thief that for 101 years stole from and fought against the goblins finally dieing of old age ,may try finding her heirs and seeing if they are having similar careers. Also found a Hydra that has made enemies of two Empires the enemies list has to be over 2000 different settlements.
Amazing. Truly a masterwork.
Not really. Artifact weapons get an increase in hit chance over masterwork, but the same damage bonus. Wooden swords are still pretty shitty.
Volume of attacks means you have a greater chance of getting critical hits and hacking off limbs and shit. I'd take a legendary cat dick scimitar over a regular steel battleaxe any day of the week. Now, if I had an equally legendary steel weapon, I'd take that without second thought. The only time I'd hesitate is an adamantine warhammer, which would be pretty fucking useless due to it's low weight. [editline]22nd July 2014[/editline]
That baby deserves a danger room. Her revenge is must begin
She survived to childhood. She can now feed herself, which means she's ripe for all sorts of training techniques that will hone her body and mind into an elf/goblin slaughtering machine. Also, the proper elves showed up to trade and were assaulted by the goblin-loving elven heretics. Then a werelemur showed up and died right away because it's a goddamn werelemur and is the shittiest werecreature of them all. I hope that after all of that, my trademaster was like "hey, these hamsters sure are nice but could you send like, fucking lions or scorpions or something next time? Thanks."

You can try to argue about solid strikes all you want, it's not going to get through any metal armor any invaders bring in. It might be useful for cutting up helpless animals, but anything with any fight in it is going to shred the dwarf using it.

He had full armor, bronze/iron. Armor user skill is important for this very reason.
What square tileset are you guys using? Haven't really bothered with tilesets, but after making square rooms like this: I think I should start using one.

You can aim shots in adventurer mode, you just have to hope for the best in fortress. And nine times out of ten, even skills dwarves tend to hit better protected areas.
Embarked between a dwarf town and goblin town, edge to edge. Has an aquifer so I drop a plug. Works, 1z of aquifer... finish that to notice I embarked across a stream from a goblin building and a squad of goblin cross bow men. And yes, we are at war. It is why I chose this spot, front lines! Hope I can poison the river leadind to goblin territory. Or at least fill it with goblin blood and bodies.

When I did, the square-ness seriously fucked with my perception of everything because I was so used to the rectangular tiles that I had issues building rooms the size I wanted them to be built. So I just stopped using tilesets.
Everyone get inside D: (and then some stupid kid decides to ignore the civilian alert and just stand there "picking up equipment") Edit: Oh... it turned back into a fish woman. Also the saving/loading fixed the kid.
Any way to train your favourite dwarves without them getting unhappy about being drafted?
Any way to train your favourite dwarves without them getting unhappy about being drafted?
When they have military skills they'll stop being unhappy about the draft, I think.

is it a bad idea to kill all of my military dwarves' children i want to use my danger room but they are always carrying their babies with them
is it a bad idea to kill all of my military dwarves' children i want to use my danger room but they are always carrying their babies with them
That's true dwarven thinking, son. I'm proud of you. The only babies that deserve to live are the ones that survive! [editline]23rd July 2014[/editline] What's the old saying? "Suffer not a babby to live..."
Wow. Just started a new cutebold fortress. Immediately, three giant tentacle monsters leap out of the nearby river and beat my doctor to death.
