I've never seen such a boring fey mood item... [editline]3rd August 2014[/editline] What can I expect from a skeleton I guess.
Update on my reservoir project: Dis shits taking a crazy long time mang.
Shankboat died faster than I expected it to from the lack of food and booze and Arrowballs dug too deep. I need to plan out my next fort properly. [editline]4th August 2014[/editline] great fort names if nothing else
Are saves compatible with version updates?
For these bugfix releases, for the most part yes. I just moved my 0.40.05 save to 0.40.06 with no problems, for example. If you're jumping from 0.34 to 0.40, though, you're out of luck. If an update does break save compatibility, Toady will mention it in his dev posts. Perhaps more importantly however, Dwarf Therapist isn't yet compatible with 0.40.06 this soon after release. :suicide:
One of my dwarves just cut down a tree, and the falling logs broke the tree he was standing on, removing the floor tile. The dwarf can not leave, because he has no floor to stand on. But he also can not fall, because the tile 1-z level below is a solid root. I now have a hoverdwarf.
Are 0.40.05 saves compatible with 06? I moved one over and my dwarves don't seem to be willing to dump a bunch of stuff (and I do have a garbage zone assigned) [editline]4th August 2014[/editline] also I just had a dwarf with a secretive mood teleport from his bedroom to a workshop it needed as soon as it was done building :v: [editline]4th August 2014[/editline] figured the dump issue out- by defauly dwarves don't dump stuff on the surface.
also I just had a dwarf with a secretive mood teleport from his bedroom to a workshop it needed as soon as it was done buolding :v:
Ive noticed recently that when a strange mood needs bones, it teleports the bones to its workbench. :v:
be carefull when creating a military squad I assigned a few guys a steel armor set they didn't have yet, and they got really unhappy because they stripped themselves of any clothes not in the uniform and ran around naked for like a month. As soon as I disbaned the squad they started collecting clothes.

And the whole conscruction is shaped like a battleaxe for that extra bit of dwarfiness. [editline]4th August 2014[/editline] Testing the new bolts and arrows in the arena. It feels pretty good. Iron bolts go through copper like butter like they should, but iron armor will block iron bolts very often. Steel armor seems impervious to iron bolts. Basically, the whole bolt/armor penetration seems more like the other weapons rather than raping everything with anything. Goes through shittier materials, sometimes goes through equal material and are foam darts against better materials.

Alright, I've said this to myself for a long time. But I'm going to give DF a try now.
Alright, i've said this to myself for a long time. But i'm going to give DF a try now.
I'd recommend downloading the Dwarf Fortress starter DL, the one that has Therapist and a few other startup options. It's a nice pack that lets you tweak options without having to get intimate with the init files or muck about in the labor menu in game. [Editline]4th August 2014[/editline] Like, will i lack any features or bugfixes?
Wait Can wagons travel through Z levels- Staircases? Fuck
yep they can go up/down ramps as long as it's 3 wide not sure about staircases though
Wait Can wagons travel through Z levels- Staircases? Fuck
My entrance is at the bottom part, basically a bunch of ramps. So the wagon comes up to the T. That staircase in the middle is a maintenance entrance. They couldn't go over the staircase there, I had to cover that up with a floor.
Will it matter that it's using an outdated version of the game? [Editline]4th August 2014[/editline] Like, will i lack any features or bugfixes?
you'll lack some bugfixes but none that will ruin your experience
you'll lack some bugfixes but none that will ruin your experience
Cool, I'll probably post about my horrible failure later.
Cool, i'll probably post about my horrible failure later.
Thats what the !FUN! is about.
Sorry for sounding so dumb, but has lazynewb pack gotten updated now or do I have to search for all the mods manually?
Will it matter that it's using an outdated version of the game? [Editline]4th August 2014[/editline] Like, will i lack any features or bugfixes?
I think they might have starter packs for old versions.
Sorry for sounding so dumb, but has lazynewb pack gotten updated now or do I have to search for all the mods manually?
called starter pack now http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=126076
called starter pack now http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=126076
Thanks!
Wait Can wagons travel through Z levels- Staircases? Fuck
Wagons can traverse ramps but not staircases IIRC
Do you guys ever get the dreams? When you play for ten hours straight in one day, and try to sleep, but all you ever dream about is the ascii and the tiles and the dwarves? Where you cant stop going over what mining layout you want to use and what areas you want to dig? I tried to sleep last night. Tried.
