Started a new fortress. [t]http://puu.sh/dDZdb/832dac9ebd.png[/t] Probably the best way to start a game. I don't even have my first farms set up, let alone a hospital.
The will of armok is absolute.
Oh my god, wall/floor building now has its own labor which everyone has THANK YOU BASED TOADY
Devlog
Let's see... there was a farming bug, where having multiple farmers on the same field caused issues. I also stopped the dwarves from deciding it's a good idea to channel their own square.
0.40.23 released, it's an almost-Christmas miracle
A third set of fixes for the job priority release, as well as a fix for the army "camp forever" problem from July. Major bug fixes - Fixed cancellation bug with farming jobs - Fixed problem causing camping armies to lose sight of certain goals once play began Other bug fixes/tweaks - Stopped situation where channeling dwarf decides to stand on channel tile - Fixed some raw typos (Gorobay)

- Stopped situation where channeling dwarf decides to stand on channel tile
This pleases me.
Can someone explain this to me? One of my miners died from ??? so I made a coffin. The coffin says that this is his resting place, but his skeleton has been left in the hallway for months. I've got this creeping feeling that they removed the flesh and left the bones behind. If these guys get spooked then they can't blame anyone but themselves.
Kind of sounds like a bug, but if not, pray for no necromancers. Because not only will you have an animated spooky skeleton running around making friends, think of the deboned animated flesh.
Decided to move his coffin, he didn't take it too well and went on a spooking rampage. Settled down after a few minutes and now he rests peacefully. Behind locked doors. In the corner. With a trench around him. Just to be sure. His skeleton is still in the hallway.

For some reason that didn't make the ghost go away BUT he's actually pretty calm. He just chills in the crowded dining hall minding his own business, not spooking anyone.
Is there a dwarf therapist out for the newest version?
So I wanted to make a Dwarf Fortress Succession thread and then realized I had way too much work to do to spend time updating the OP and keeping track of everyone's turn. So instead I have a great idea [t]http://puu.sh/dJGgV/09d32c6b64.png[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/dJGi6/5d5e18db15.png[/t] walking in a winter wonderland... [editline]25th December 2014[/editline]
?
?
Fuckloads of snow
Sweet jesus that snow
Is there any mod that allows you to play the game in isometric mode, or is that still unable to happen? I remember there was a tool that'd let you visualize your fort isometrically.

I give it two seasons before cannibalism to survive sets in. It'll be like the movie Alive, but with dorfs.
Is Dwarf Therapist updated?
Battle of the Five Armies was great, if a little cheesy at times. I ended up going with some local gamer friends, they couldn't stop making jokes about how every single fortress I've ever made has disgusting amounts of gold and gems but no other useful metal
I've got two worlds at the moment, one on the laptop and one on my good computer. I just started a fortress on the laptop and it literally has walls of gold and granite. Does anyone know if it's possible to smith gold weapons and armour? I like the idea of having an all-gold army.

At last! I lasted more than a year without dying horribly or getting bored or confused! Struck gold too, next caravan will make me some mad cash [editline]25th April 2014[/editline] seriously, too much fucking gold and no other metal I'm screwed if I get attacked before the next caravan
and my current one (Half the yellow walls are orthoclase but the furniture is 100% gold)
I'm having difficulty finding a tileset. I like the look of Obsidian, but it was last updated in 2013?!
Is there a Starterpack for the latest version? The one I normally use doesn't download and the ones people have mirrored don't start up and I'm too much of wuss to play with ASCII. EDIT Nevermind, got it working.
So who is down for a succession fortress?
I!
I am!
Moi
So I opened up the health screen to see if my soldiers were all alright, and I saw that something was starving. I thought 'what the hell, we have plenty of food'. Turns out it was a horse, so I thought maybe it wasn't somehow assigned to the pasture outside. I checked that and it wasn't the case. So back to the health screen, I recentered on the horse and turns out it's stuck in the middle of the leaves a tree, along with a foal.

Right so for the succession fort, does everyone just want to do the latest version or a mod like Masterwork?
Wait, so it was stuck there, living off leaves, for so long that it gave birth, so long that the tree grew around it and it's baby? Such is life in Dwarf Fortress... right.. ?
Cutting the tree solved it, with no injuries whatsoever. Such is life in dwarf fortress, indeed.
