I thought Candy sucked for weapons? or is that just blunt weapons
Just sucks for blunt weapons, as it's insanely light. Best for sharp weapons.
I thought Candy sucked for weapons? or is that just blunt weapons
Ya that too, forgot.
Candy swords edges so sharp they can slice atoms.
So I've gotten so good at this game that I can pretty much without fail make a fort with a 180+ pop that will last until a fps death. What should I do to spice up the game. And please don't suggest an above ground fort those are obnoxious to do.
I thought Candy sucked for weapons? or is that just blunt weapons
I once got a candy warhammer as an artifact weapon. It wasnt even a paperweight, as candy is lighter than cork. When I sendt my hammerer to hammer a prisoner with it, he became more happy...
Candy swords edges so sharp they can slice atoms.
folded a million times with superior japanese candy forging

Bedrooms must line the walls of the cavern and all must have at least one glass window to create a sort of inside-out skyscraper.
Cavern fort. Bedrooms must line the walls of the cavern and all must have at least one glass window to create a sort of inside-out skyscraper.
I like this. Thanks [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] I hope toady adds more constructions at some point. Railings, thatch & wood roofs, engraveable constructed walls, rain catchers, etc. Just some nitpicky things though. [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] And I know this has been suggested before several times, and most of them have failed, but would anyone be interested in a succession fort? I'd be willing to manage and set it up. I think the reason why it most of them end up failing is because people have to wait too long to start their turns and eventually loose interest.

I'd be willing to sign up for one if I knew how they worked.

Possibly roleplay as the overseer of the fort/members of the fort. Then once your year is up you package it up and upload it somewhere.
Also being able to write well helps, it's still a fun thing to do because you get to take over a fort after other people have messed with it but if you want to produce something like Boatmurdered or whatever then you need to be decent at writing. Just depends whether you are doing it to create a story worth reading or whether you are doing it just for fun.
Just depends whether you are doing it to create a story worth reading or whether you are doing it just for fun.
I consider myself a decent writer but shit at DF.
I consider myself a decent writer but shit at DF.
That makes for the best DF turns

Agree to do a sucession, disagree if not.
Agree to do a sucession, disagree if not.
I'll take the third turn if we end up having one. Generally these things never even get off the ground but if more than two people succeed each other it just might have some promise.
Again, I'll take a turn, I'm reliable, though I work 7 days a week I have free time usually.
I might take a turn School starts for me in like 4 days though
How long do Giant Cave Spiders live? I know they can't breed, and my Fortress is in about year 600, so they should have died out by now, yeah? [editline]1st September 2013[/editline] Oh, and I just spotted a vampire. I think. She has a husband who is not in the fortress, and 164 kills, along with unprecedented military skills. And some bone jewelry. TO THE CAVERNS SHE GOES.

I don't think they go extinct from it, though, just they won't reproduce in fortress mode.

Checking skills and relations is an unreliable way of checking for a vampire, your best bet - if you don't want to use DFhack to do a curse check - is to use Dwarf Therapist to name her something, memorize her ingame name, and then try to find her in Dwarf Therapist. If she's a vampire, her real name will display in DT.

Honestly, I find it to be a good idea - if a little cheap - to occasionally do a fort-wide curse check just to see if there's one there I don't know about. Working to find out who it is after that is the hard part, although half the time I just let them go until they do something to piss me off. Like kill my favorite noble.
http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=130656.0
Thanks to everybody that helped out in August! I think I'll be starting with the necessary changes for chopping down trees in dwarf mode so that Zach can dive in to fortress testing in a proper way, and then it'll be back to town squabbles and NPC forts. Looking over things, I think the realistic and hopefully somewhat conservative estimate (for a change) is that I'll be through the list in mid-November, and then I'll just have to deal with the bad-to-really-bad stuff that Zach and I find in the meantime. It's obviously taking longer than we thought, but there are also a lot of new things, so imagining us as our future DF-playing selves, it'll all be good!
Ugghh not until at the earliest mid-November :( Oh well, as he said, just means more new things to do when it's out.

Hey. You shut up. That noble was great. His obsession was quivers. Do you know how many marksdwarf squads I use? I was also rolling in leather. I built him a wooden house and put in some windows and he shit himself. He was like the best mayor/book keeper I've ever had.
Do weapon traps activate when my dwarves stand on them? It says they activate when enemies stand on them, but what about friendlies?
Traps will only activate on hostile units without [TRAPAVOID], or any unit that is stunned/unconscious and webbed. Actually saved some of my units because they passed out on cage traps. In addition, any human diplomat/caravan that comes through and sees your traps will give their location to their civilization, so any traps they've seen they won't trigger.
