would anyone mind helping me play this game? i dont want to spam this thread with small questions where the wiki doesnt help
This thread needs more spam, listening to newbie tales are usually pretty interesting anyways. Just ask questions in here and I'm pretty sure you'll get a quick response.
would anyone mind helping me play this game? i dont want to spam this thread with small questions where the wiki doesnt help
Same as falcon said, I am pretty new (in experience, but I understand how to do everything in the game) but I would love to help you or anyone else for that matter
what is tetrahedite and quartzite for
Tetrahedite contains both copper and Silver, so if you smelt it down you have a chance to get copper and silver in variable amounts. Quartzite is just a typical rock used for all common masonry.
could i add you on steam? ive got a few small questions which arent worth making a post about
Ehm, I'm still a relative newbie but sure. Steam name is Scraig390.
could i add you on steam? ive got a few small questions which arent worth making a post about
Again man, really this is what this thread's about. Even things you might think stupid, we'll gladly answer. One of the friendliest threads on FP. Also if you find a stone you don't recognize and the wiki doesn't have an article on it, - which would be weird, I'll admit - this is a pretty handy reference chart.
Ok so I discovered a cavern when I was building a stair way down, and I just cut it off because naked mole dogs kept bothering my dwarves. But now the dwarf that deconstructed them is stuck down there, and it won't let me build any stairs or anything, so how do I get him unstuck.
Channel a legal ramp down to him, then build a floor over it. [editline]28th September 2013[/editline] The floor is to block it off.
So uhh. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Ns4oNKV.png[/t] This happened. It's a ^ without any connecting mountain tiles. Worse, the "peak" is a single tile of the region tile... So what I'm left with is a 118 z-level high spire and everything else you see in this image.
you have to build your fortress on the top
Turn it into a giant chimney stack.
I want to see a fleshy thing dropped from it--
Turn it into a giant chimney stack.
Go one better and pump lava out the top.

You might need to build a little bit of scaffolding to get to the top without digging through it.

There's no reason he can't do all of these at once

I sent my lumberjack out to collect wood. The second he stepped outside the gates, about ten giant grey langurs appeared out of no where. One just ran up and ripped him in half instantly. They then proceeded to steal all of his clothes and quickly leave the map. They could have just bought him dinner first.
They then proceeded to steel all of his clothes
Having all his clothes turned into steel sound like a pretty good deal to me. :v:
Again man, really this is what this thread's about. Even things you might think stupid, we'll gladly answer. One of the friendliest threads on FP.
Have we ever had a single fight here, other than the bronze vs iron deathmatches re: sharp weapon effectiveness? (iron wins this build, but it was bronze in the past for one build...) I'm not sure we have. Maybe the game sates all bloodlust and leaves us as the friendliest individuals on FP.
What the shit. I set up some mining tunnels to find some materials and my best miner just went in there then mined until he died of dehydration. I appreciate the enthusiasm but I'd rather you didn't kill yourself.

I'd rather my miners die of dehydration than get mad about lost socks and kill everyone else.

There's so many ways to do everything, and none of them are wrong. DF is like some kind of anomaly in that it's hard to pick an actual fight with someone about something that has to do with it.
I want to be able to make weapons out of cheese. [editline]29th September 2013[/editline] and armor. [editline]29th September 2013[/editline] and furniture. Hell, I just want to make an entire fortress out of cheese.
I thought you meant you wanted to make weapons out of furniture, and I imagined a mace with a large ornate chair at the end.
Why not make weapons out of furniture made out of cheese. [editline]29th September 2013[/editline] "The Hammerdwarf swings at the Goblin Thief with her =Large Goat Cheese Throne Mace=, hitting the left forearm and tearing apart the bone"

[editline]29th September 2013[/editline] Breached my first cavern. Oooh, candy, in the first cavern layer! Nice! My fortress was overrun by clowns before my first caravan had even arrived.
