Dwarf Fortress - DF2014 released - Games

I just abandoned and deleted the world. Fuck that.

Uhhhh... the hell is a Blood Beast? I assume its a Masterwork thing, but no where on the forums, guides, or wikis does it show Blood Beast. My Legender miner just randomly morphed into it for some reason and I have ever dwarf in my fortress beating it to death, but it just WON'T DIE. [editline]4th October 2013[/editline] Its entire body is ripped open, broken, dented, etc. and it just won't go down. My dwarves are going to pass out from exhaustion at this rate.

Just embarked in a haunted glacier. Wish me luck guys.

I'm trying to lure the bastard into my cave traps but all these fucking moleweasels are running in circles keeping him in my crafting area/stockpile [editline]4th October 2013[/editline] Dwarves are retarded. They just kept running down there, I could get them to stay outside and lure it into the cave traps. I'm abandoning that fortress, fuck you, Blood Beast. You had been impaled in the head over a hundred times with a fucking spear, and all of your bones were shattered, yet you managed to rip apart my dwarves in just a few hits when they weren't gang banging you. glacier embarks are awesome, especially having to build all your farms in the caves if there isnt a soil layer

How my dwarf fortress deals with sieges: 1. Dwarven caravan arrives to trade. 2. "We've decided to make these lands a Barony!" 3. A vile force of darkness arrives. 4. All of the traders are slaughtered. 5. All of the grazing animals are slaughtered. 6. Some babies are slaughtered. 7. Goblins and Trolls die to traps. 8. Every single dwarf in the fortress spends 2 seasons picking up body parts and making coffins. 9. Baron goes insane because I haven't built him a nice room yet. 10. Baron is shot to death in the main hall.

Feels like everyone's willingness to play DF is in tune or something. Either everyone is playing DF and discussing it or nobody is.

Many of us aren't actually playing it currently (such as myself) but are in a phase of waiting for the next version, whilst more than willing to have a chat about it. You need one active player to post a bit, then we all flock to it to have a chat.

I stopped playing DF on my desktop and now I only play on my laptop simply because of the amazing world I happened to generate on it. I'm gonna miss my seven ages of myth and six ages of civilization when this new update rolls in.

Load me up with boxes or whatnot if you disagree, but [url=http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tynansylvester/rimworld]Rimworld[/url] looks pretty fucking sweet, even if it does only bear a minor resemblance to DF. It's fully funded too! Might see if I can chip in $20, but my budget is pretty limited...

Maia and Stonehearth look really good. Anyways, my Temple of Armok already failed. Any suggestions for something else?

Ie. where you focus on making the life of a select few dwarves as good as possible by devoting all your resources to making their rooms as flashy as possible, all their meals made up of their favorite things, zoos that hold only their favorite animals, etc.

My Thinkpad that I got from my school 3 years ago can run a small fort with decent FPS. That's heavily optimized though, running Accelerated DF w/o weather, temperature, cave-ins and other non-essentials

Several years old, I want it to be capable of running DF without removing cool stuff like temperature, cave-ins and weather. :(

Clearing the entire map of splatters/bloodstains and the such with DFhack does an enormous boost. When you have tens of thousands of splatters being tracked on a map, and then clean it up, I was able to run a 150 dwarf fort at excellent FPS.

I'm gunna do a glacier embark I guess! I'm still a bit awful at military creation and armament, so it'll be my goal to just get a good military force going in my fort. Nothing to fancy. Wasn't an evil glacier or anything, but I just got charged by Blizzard Men right out of the fucking gate. And my few soldiers wouldn't even attack them. I set them to kill the Blizzard Men standing DIRECTLY in front of them and they just sat there saying "no reachable valid target" and everyone died. What the fuck, DF?
