Here's hoping he eventually makes dwarves move things to barrels instead of only moving barrels. Doubtful though.
49:15 cracks me up so much. Such timing.
Later today I'm very likely going to do a documented DF run with screen shots and all that jazz, assuming unexpected work doesn't get in the way. Today's theme: GLORIOUS UPRISING OF THE WORKING CLASS.
If I recall correctly, brewing a plump helmet produces seeds, so basically he's finishing a brew and then storing the left over seeds, it happens to me all the time, not sure if I can help with a fix, I just let it solve itself when he eventually goes back and leaves the barrel alone long enough for farmers to grab some seeds
Oh shit, right. Completely forgot about that. Well that explains it.
so far my dwarfs have made two weapon artifacts a bone warhammer and a tin mace good job guys
Somehow a child managed to kill a berserk Ranger with his bare hands while his legs were torn apart by the Ranger's axe.
I have returned from my boring life to do this run. Here's what I've done so far: I went ahead and made my world with these settings just because I'm new to DF, give me a break here. This was my final choice once I looked over the options for starting out; it's a bit easy sure, but I made sure there was something provide challenge! If I remembered correctly, there was a small goblin stronghold a ways away. So there is still some guaranteed """""fun""""" coming my way. Embarking details: Group name: Fortress name: Equipment/Dwarves: As you are reading this post, my adventure has begun. While I play I'll make sure to supply updates to help advance this little story. LET THE GAMES BEGIN. Also, because this lacks much involvement from fellow FPers, I'd like to put up a list where people can suggest names for my future immigrants. A Skype group I'm in is getting these updates too, so expect extra names coming out of nowhere. Current list of names: Urist McMaxios Urist McVodka Urist Urist Ron Paul (2016)
Urist McMaxios Urist McVodka
Urist Urist.
Current list of names: Urist McMaxios Urist McVodka
Ron Paul
Ron Paul
For shits and giggles, make him the broker and the bookkeeper.
Immediately start producing silver coins.
For shits and giggles, make him the broker and the bookkeeper.
That's a horrible idea, he'd only work a few weeks out of the year.
Got a update for you folks, I finished up planning our site: Before: After: I positioned this so that the workshops had minimal distance from the stockpile, and everything else would be a few stair steps away. More information coming soon. Current list: Urist McMaxios Urist McVodka Urist Urist Urout Urine Ron Paul (RAWN PAUEL 2016) Alexander Romanov
Urist McMaxios Urist McVodka Urist Urist Ron Paul (2016)
Urout Urine
Expect the next update to not come out until I set up a proper base. Keep up those names!
You can always have an internal trading depot, then have a separate trap corridor entrance for goblin sieges. Control their movement with bridges. Makes it much safer. Put on Monster Hunter's "Last and Decisive Battle" as goblins charge along a 1 tile trap-infested bridge with deathfalls on either side, flanked by dorf crossbowmen. Bonus points for spraying it with magma from a minecart, though I don't know how to do that myself.
I decided to compile them all instead of posting them individually since I'm not a post count whore, here ya go: Update 1: Started construction as the rain started dropping, listening to "Russian Red Army Choir - Polyushka Polye (Song of the Plains)" on a high volume is making the equality intensify enough for me to not give a fuck. Update 2: Weather cleared up, digging out the assigned locations has confirmed future successful creation the glorious equality loving fortress I'm making-and it's raining again. Update 3: Moving in the stuff from our wagon over to the brand new stockpile. Our refuse/corpse pile (A.K.A. Elf pile) is set up a moderate distance from the entrance. Seems like stuff is going well. More rain sadly. Update 4: More rain, the dormitory is being built as I'm typing this Update 5: Most of the living area is dug out, our surplus of wood is being used for beds for the time being. I cannot wait until we can make a bridge so I can stop worrying about early invasion. Update 6: We have hit Summer! We got two extra wheelbarrows being made for a future mining operation. Our new beds are safely held in our stockpile until the dormitory is dug out, our trading post is even complete! In a minute I think there will be enough content for a post. Update 7: The rain never ends, our wheelbarrows are made and the beds are put into their new rooms. Here's the progress made before I start up my farm: Edit: OH GOD, HOW DID I MESS UP THE WORD "WORKSHOP" TWICE?! [editline]16th October 2013[/editline] Huzza! the first wave of immigrants have arrived to assist us. The reason I held off on the farming and mining was because: 1) I forgot. 2) I wasn't sure who we were going to get for assistance. Now that they are here, I want to tell everyone how the naming game works. You see, I will be rolling dice to decide who should be named what as opposed to going down the list. I will embolden the text to indicate what I rolled. Here are the results: Edit: Failure count rising, turns out it wasn't just two immigrants... it was NINE. Which means every name will be used. [editline]16th October 2013[/editline] Weird, the reply turned into a edit.
So my 10000 year old world, became 9300 years. The world is around ~300 MB big. I had to close the laptop down, and so I canceled the world generation. But I am going to look up if I can run DF in text/terminal mode for better speed/less memory usage. I can upload the folder on my dropbox(probably) if any one is interested. Here is the link, you can download it as a zip through the dropbox functions or so it seems. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/34doglc2len2pqt/oKYfcCO1s7
You inspired me to test my laptop's ability to render a small region for 10000 years. It took around four hours, but I did it. The final file is ~120mb. It actually created some really neat ages including "The Age of Dragon and Hill Titan," "The Draconic Age," "The Golden Age," four "Ages of Twilight," and four "Ages of Fairy Tales." It sounds like everyone's been through some shit. [editline]16th October 2013[/editline] Also, there appears to be only one Dwarven civilization left.
Hey, are you naming dorfs after people in the thread, Robust?
Hey, are you naming dorfs after people in the thread, Robust?
Not necessarily, you can say you want your name added in. But I am also taking other names if someone suggests them.
After I do this run, I might do a run themed around 'murican liberty and democracy. The mission would be to eliminate any and all Elf Communists.
You should name one Urist McGarry
This just struck me, a dorfs main name, Urist, means dagger. Dorfs consider daggers exotic weapons and cannot forge them. Maybe we should be able to forge them by default for one ingot or something. Daggers stabs also have 10% of the striking area of a short sword tip, they're fairly good at armour piercing...

Well I'm out of ideas. I've dropped one of my many prisoners into a 1 tile walled room and have just been tossing various objects in and around my fortress on him from about 13 z levels up. I think I'm going to finish this and issue a mass stone dumping, actually dumping large serrated discs seems to work pretty well too. Actually i realized I had many crossbow bolts laying around the map so I just reclaimed and dumped all of them. He is dead.
