Why doesn't kobold thieves get trapped in cages? Am I doing something wrong?
[QUOTE=stee_vo;42688902]Why doesn't kobold thieves get trapped in cages? Am I doing something wrong?[/QUOTE] They have [TRAP_AVOID] in their raws. Only way to trap them is to stun them into a trap.

Well this is weird or possibly [B]fun[/B]. Never seen this before, and googling doesn't come up with anything. But I just embarked on the side of a mountain, and the first thing that happend in my activity log was to report several "lairs", which I then saw are dwarf vampires. There are 7 lairs, they haven't moved outside the lairs yet. I wonder what will happen if a dwarf gets close to a lairs entrence.

Get some lava ready
What happens if I channel the first layer of a brook? Will my dwarf be swept away/killed/fall down, anyone know?
[QUOTE=stee_vo;42691703]What happens if I channel the first layer of a brook? Will my dwarf be swept away/killed/fall down, anyone know?[/QUOTE] It turns it into an air tile over a water tile. All a brook effectively is is a bunch of grates over running water.
My kobold fortress is going well. But since its above ground and kobolds have so many fucking kids, baby snatchers run off all the time. But kobolds have like three kids at once and couldn't give two flying shits if one disappears.

[QUOTE=stee_vo;42692128]So if i remove the top layer, that's an awesome place for a drawbridge? Awesome.[/QUOTE] Yeah, but there'll still be ramps on both sides leading out of the brook unless you use DFhack to flatten them.
[QUOTE=Alxnotorious;42686242]I hate when my proletariat dwarves end up with gem walls in their bedrooms.[/QUOTE] I've got two worlds at the moment, one on the laptop and one on my good computer. I just started a fortress on the laptop and it literally has walls of gold and granite. Does anyone know if it's possible to smith gold weapons and armour? I like the idea of having an all-gold army.

Don't believe so. Silver yes, gold no.

[QUOTE=axelord157;42693995]That's the one thing you gotta love about kobolds: They take the shotgun approach to parenting.[/QUOTE] Oh my god they are so fucking stupid though. Baby snatchers just keep running up to them, grabbing one of their kids, and just running off while the parent just stands there scratching it's ass. [editline]30th October 2013[/editline] Oh my fucking God, one of my soldiers had a baby with her. I sent them to attack a snatcher. It stole the soldier's baby and ran off, dodging all the attacks. [editline]30th October 2013[/editline] I also have well over 2,000 in food supplies, because these fishermen fish. A lot. And I have about 50 Giant Jack Rats I want to butcher. [editline]30th October 2013[/editline] A kobold thief was spotted, and tried to run away through my Giant Jack Rat herd. Those fuckers swarmed him and beat the fuck out of him. Also, why am I getting like four thieves a minute?

Decided to play unmodified game with no tileset. It's so FUN. A werehare came to my fortress, killed a wombat, tearing APART her hair 30 times, choked her, turned into a dwarf and ran away. Oh, and a dorf with fey mood made a dolomite harp. Without any form of strings i assume... unless they are from cut gems/dolomite.
[QUOTE=Lijitsu;42692682]Don't believe so. Silver yes, gold no.[/QUOTE] You can add the weapon modifiers to the raws and make gold an armor/weapon material. Granted it'll be as bad as copper (probably worse,) but you can do it.
Well, it's better than copper for blunt, worse for sharp. [editline]30th October 2013[/editline] As for armour, ask someone who has tested it. I'd imagine its performance to be comparable to silver armour, but silver armour cannot be made either, unless you do some raws work.
Makes me wonder. Since there's just a subsection for each type of metal, why doesn't someone just add the flags for every metal to be used for weapon/armorworking. It'd make the early game a bit easier if you couldn't find much useful metal but didn't want to use wood of all things. Plus it'd be amusing to have dwarves in full lead armor with lead mugs for drinks.
Anyone playing this Genesis Reborn mod for the game? I'm doing adventure mode, as always, and I would like some tips if anybody knows... Or where can I find some magical tomes and what-not to gain some power?

Wait, thats normal. I support this idea. [editline]adf[/editline] Also, is dwarf lobotomy in this version, or due for next version? I wanna play with it. And then name the results things like Farmbot and Brewbot. And then chain their former families up in front of them and sic lions on them so the blood splatters across them and they grin all the way through it and ask the mangled corpses if they'd like a fresh brew.

I just had ten or so child snatchers appear in five minutes, how do I stop them from snatching my children?
Shoot them in the face. [editline]30th October 2013[/editline] Alternatively, pasture animals around. Snatchers and thieves flee as soon as they're discovered.
A snatcher tried to play a magic trick on one of my many children. For some reason, instead of kidnapping the child, he stabbed him in the arm and pushed him into the river and ran away. [editline]30th October 2013[/editline] Water-sign Kobold, so he swam out.

What would a kidnapped kobold child even be good for? They can't do much physical labor, most are dumb as bricks, and probably wouldn't taste good.
So they're basically dwarves except they breed faster?
