About five minutes after that kid fell into a strange mood, this happened.

I thought it'd be no big deal, just raise the bridge up and hopefully weather the storm. Nope. Pulled the lever too late and sealed it inside the fort. Had some errands to do, so now I'll finally see how this plays out.

The initial werepanda ended up just killing a horse and then turning back into a human, so things continued normally. Now this.

Goddammit Unib.

I think this is a good point to end on. 5 dwarves left, 1 miserable, 1 gone mad, 1 a werepanda responsible for the slaughter of all the others, and 2 more dwindling down to miserableness.
Hey guys how do I make outdoor rooms and buildings and such? I know make walls, but then how do I make roofs? I'm trying to make an outdoor dwarf fortress.
build up stairs next to wall
build down stairs on the same tile a level above
build floor
Anyone got a brief list or summary of what's going to be in the next major release?

I'd recommend a ramp instead for roofs, that way it can easily be dismantled after the roof is built.
Also I'd just like to ask, is dfhack worth using? I use lazynewb pack basic to launch and play. What does dfhack offer?
Oh jesus, it takes a LOT of materials and time to build an aboveground fortress.
Yeah, overground fortresses take a lot of time.
I highly recommend making them out of rock blocks, as it adds an extra stage, but increases value, and turns one rock into 4 blocks.
As for DFhack, I tend to add it to my DF whilst still using LNP, it offers many features, from lag reducing ones (I think it can clear clutter) to cheaty ones, to the ability to prospect an embark site before going there, to avoid embarking and finding out that the "shallow metal" was a few nuggets of galena.
It also allows for a quick exit to DF if you don't want to save the fort with the "die" command.

It's worse when you're making out of wood. When it comes to stone though, you can mass produce blocks and get 4 blocks for ever 1 boulder. Blocks are also lighter and make 'smooth' walls and floor.
If on a volcano with sand nearby / have magma with sand nearby, consider a line of magmaforges making glass blocks to be a total badass.
I have a problem with Masterwork. Every world i generate I cant bring cats or peregrine falcons, so I cant get rid of vermin. Is there another animal that can hunt vermin?

Can't decide if I want to hook up the volcano to my goblin bridge. It would kill them all, and burn away the crap, leaving iron, but I kind of want to keep goblin copper and such too, even though I already have 500 copper bars or so, and only 1 armoursmith, 1 weaponsmith, 1 blacksmith and 1 metalcrafter. Probably need to set forges to working constantly.
My marksdwarves seem to be pacifists when it comes to shooting through the fortifications, though they were more than happy to chase after two thieves, spraying bismuth bronze bolts at them. (got a load of bis bronze I brought at embark)
Magma glass forges are great too. Ideally the sand would be closer to the glass furnaces, but it's only a few z levels up in the northern bit (which is enclosed by glass walls and floors)
Someone suggested the use of minecart shotguns to spray the bridge in magma. Would be kind of awkward due to magma channels around the area (one for forges, one for glass) but it would be badass... if I was to figure out how to get the carts ready first...
Wtf, my very flimsy miner apparently broke his right thigh after walking up a ramp with a rock... After that all the dwarves I had set to dumping the rock dropped their rocks because they were going to help him, but they dropped some of the rock on him and killed him...
Wipe out the world trip report: going quite swimmingly at present. I finished a handful of quests, made a decent amount of bank, and cleared out a bunch of monster lairs and the inexplicable tunnel complexes underneath towns. Lots of gold and silver coins and jewelry to trade up for nicer stuff. I can't be arsed to convert coins into gems (more than needed, anyway) because I'll probably recover it all anyway once I massacre the whole world.
Highlights: Dealing with a group of a half dozen bogeymen during a night attack without suffering a single injury. I guess this counts as the only highlight really.

Shalswar, Moleweasels, Frill Lizards, and I think one or two others.
How do i make my farms work faster?
I have a 6x10 farm but my dwarves are still starving and I can barely brew any drinks because they don't have any plump helmets...
I have 207 seeds btw.

I think you can make fertilizer somehow.

Need to check that out.

Try using a bunch of 3x3 farms instead. Then you can have different crops growing simultaneously, and can have multiple farmers working all at once.

Thanks for the tip, should've thought about that sooner, i think my dwarves are going isnane, one threw a tantrum.
my little sister watches me play DF and has played it herself a bit so i asked her to draw me a typical dwarf

Welp. Operation 'wipe out the world' failed today at the very first combat. Some asshole crossbowman put a bolt through my eye and into my brain. You are deceased.
Time to try again.

Make a Demigod and put almost all points into dodging, rest into spear/sword/dagger/whatever weapon you wanna use. And of course reading.

and it still managed to connect. That has got to be the worst luck I have ever had to date. I know enough about builds, but sometimes the RNG just doesn't give a toss.

I can't see that being an n
Wait, how old is your sister?
No matter how adorable she is, you know the rules. All children to the atom smasher.
