yeah I unassigned bins from the stockpile, he grabbed cloth and made a statue of one of my dwarves staring at crutches. Thanks for the help.
Also, what weapons should I focus on making? heavy weapons like hammers or weapons which slice up shit I.E. swords? I've got copper and silver in my fort (although a trading caravan just arrived so I put any iron ore/bars to maximum priority), and I read that silver hammers are quite good.
Silver makes the best warhammers, they're great against armored targets. If you've got local silver but not any iron, you'll probably end up better off using the silver for weapons and saving the iron you buy for armor.
I need to learn to play Fortress mode in less than five days to complete my New Year's resolution. I have tried in the past, but failed? Any good guides aside from the wiki?
There are a few video tutorials but the wiki is the best guide in my opinion
I actually kind of recommend not using a guide and just diving into it. I used a guide for my first time playing, and quickly lost interest. For my second time playing, I just sort of set out and came up with short term goals. Whenever I couldn't figure out something myself, I looked up how to do that, and only that, with the wiki. "I found [Metal], I want to make stuff with it, how do I forge stuff? Better look up forging." I ended up holding my interest long enough to learn how the systems essentially work.
I used the wiki combined with let's plays and figured it out after too long.
When I started I watched Captain Ducks playthroughs, just a few videos so I could follow his basics. From there I just played and referenced the wiki for anything. But whenever there's something I don't know how to do, I'll look up a video about it, like building a functional hospital, or a well that wont flood the fortress, stuff like that.
expect to be watching a lot of videos for info, and having a lot of DF wiki pages open at once. I finally got to the stage where I can figure out how to set up most of the stuff in my fort, but I still have a multitude of wiki pages about the little things.

I've been having strange stuff happening with my bee hives lately. I ordered my guys to build some hives on a field after they got made in a workshop, but I got a job cancellation consisting of something like "job item can not be found/does not exist"
I just realized that a DF2013 release is not going to happen, instead it's going to be DF2014. Kind of cool now that I thought of it.
So one of my dwarves fell into water near the river and died soon after embarking. He is now a ghost due to me being unable to reach his body to bury. He's still in the water. What do I do?

You'll need a Mason's workshop and a dwarf with Masonry enabled, a Craftdwarf's workshop and a dwarf with Engraving enabled, and one stone. At the Mason's workshop build a rock slab. Once made, at the Craftdwarf's workshop you can now engrave the slab as a memorial to that dwarf.
That should stop the ghost, and you can place the slab as a building from the build menu if you want.
So I had the no wheelbarrow/mining cart bug (odd cause I'm running 100% vanilla) and did the fix told here, but I still can't cinstruct them. They aren't in the list. Can anyone help?
Oh my God a tragedy occurred. My Woodworker just had gotten married and finished partying. He went to bed when suddenly a dwarf turned into a wereiguana and killed him...
[editline]28th December 2013[/editline]
Also how do I isolated the infected dwarf?
Burrows are a good method. Atom smashing works pretty well too.

I read that as weregina. Thanks for the nightmares.
I read that as weregina. Thanks for the nightmares.
And every full moon, it turns into... A PENIS!
[editline]29th December 2013[/editline]
I swear there has to be a manga about that.
Can you guys elaborate how to "dispose of" this dwarf? Any easy method is acceptable.
Atom smashing. Cave-in trap. Drowning. Actual Danger Room. Locking them in a room.
Atom smashing destroys everything they've got, though. Drowning can be annoying to clean up if you want everything he's got.

This sounds like a shitty marketing ploy.
Now made with 60% more danger!!!!
Well I have a plan, but how do I lead specific dwarfs into rooms?
Well I have a plan, but how do I lead specific dwarfs into rooms?
you can assign a single (specific) dwarf to a burrow

Actual danger not included
while adventuring in some sewer-dungeon called creepyscarred, i came upon a fat 69-year-old female kobold swordsman named "drunker"
because my dwarf is a quadriplegic vampire, i killed her by ripping out both of her arms with my teeth and sucking her blood as she passed out from the pain
Thanks, will be useful. Too bad though the rest of my fort is already going insane though.
And now to pass out because I did the double feature and then stuffed my face like a hobbit at denny's.
You are now my favorite poster.
How does one tell what is missing for a noble's requirements? I seem to have all of them, but it still has REQUIRE listed as red.
[editline]29th December 2013[/editline]
Oh God now my dwarfs won't move these corpses oddly.
Dammit, I didn't know that companions would become hostile if they saw you suck the blood of some random creature. RIP Adela Ivymint.

My chief medical dwarf who is a convicted criminal just finishing her sentence for killing a guy as a vampire was just made mayor. She must be really convincing to win the votes.
Dwarves are idiots. I convicted a vampire of 3 different murders and they still made him the mayor after his beatings.

i don't know man
i'm pretty sure if a dwarf kills 3 people, and when found out, takes a long brutal beating without care, it's pretty obvious he's the alpha male of the pack and you should watch the fuck out
you gotta respect the alpha dwarf and let him be mayor or else you won't get any more alcohol
