Well I don't have to worry much about walls since most of my forts so far have just been holes in the ground, though very nice holes with smoothed walls and engravings. I guess I'm going to have to build moats around my animal pens now though.
On another note, my prisoner for life [sp]eternity[/sp] Urist Mctotallynotavampire is now ecstatic. I guess she must REALLY like that finely crafted lead chain. Oh and the door I used to seal her off until I build a tower for her to guard over is a legendary bone door with various spikes and engravings on it, so I guess that helps.
I just imagine the dwarf sitting in the cell smiling, and weighing the pros and cons to being imprisoned, coming to the conclusion that sitting in the cell is the best thing hes experienced, because he can now look at the door for eternity
We should make all our cells out of adamantine. Then dwarves will never want to do anything but be in jail, so anyone you don't like you can just toss 'em in there.
On second thought, that's a bad idea. Nothing would ever get done.
I never put my vampires in jail. As soon as I discover one, I lock it in a room until it goes insane. Berserkers are promptly put down, melancholics and ravers get built into the forgotten beast silk farm as bait.

ftfy
but yeah, I agree. Too bad the door is out of the eyesight of all the other prisoners. The vampire is in the back of my prison in a separate room.
no I have a fort on region 2. I abandoned my region 1 fort and couldn't find another good place to build one so I never use it. Do legends not work while a fort is running?

the only titan I ever took down was made of salt and just disintegrated when my hammerdwarf hit it with a silver warhammer.
I can imagine seeing a huge as fuck being just turned into salt flakes when a dwarf hits it.
Sorry for promoting a bit, but I am streaming again. I have 238 dwarfs right now in my fort, if people are interested to see shit loads of 'em. http://www.twitch.tv/sax850
one of my dorfs is starving in the mines. Is there a way to tell one of the other dorfs to give him food and water?

seriously... the fuck? I removed a glacial slope and the square turned into... nothing. I can't build on it, my dorfs don't seem to move across it, it's just... nothing.
Should I report this bug?
see what happens when you throw a cage on it or designate it as a dump. Maybe you got a free disposal chute to another universe?
Can you put dwarves in cages?
Can you put dwarves in cages?
I had a few beserking dwarfs in cage traps after the clean up effort of a battle in my murder hall where spiders had been particularly generous with their silk. May the gods of the sea have mercy upon their souls.
Can you put dwarves in cages?
You have to have them get trapped by a cage trap, or designate them to be used as part of a jail I believe. The cage trap is tricky, you need either silk on the trap, the dwarf to be unconscious, or the dwarf to be hostile to your other dwarves - berserk, opposed to life due some mod, etc..
Settled in a evil region, now my dwarfes are being chased by "Incredibly Muscular" mussel shells.

Muscle shells?
I have corpses all over my fortress. Yes, I have several refuse piles with corpses permitted. Any solution?
Put bodies on a stockpile on a retracting bridge over magma.
Open bridge.
[editline]26th January 2014[/editline]
Bodies under mountain, mountain only held up by support. Support linked to lever.
Pull lever.
[editline]26th January 2014[/editline]
Bridge raised up, bodies on a stockpile under bridge, lever connected to bridge.
Pull lever.

Build a moat. Chuck a necromancer down there. Chuck bodies down there.
Instant defence.
If you want a more effective necromancer pit make sure to kill creatures in a way that insures they explode into various body parts.
Oh, another one. Not sure how feasible it is, but y'know.
Fill minecart shotguns up with the dead bodies, use for fort defense.

What happens when you make a single-tile garbage dump over a drawbridge and never take anything out of it? Do you then get a dwarven MLRS?
Necro-siege arrived 3 seconds after an elf caravan. If there's one thing worse than LIVING elves...

At least the dead ones simply gnaw on your ankles instead of running around screaming due to the fact that all the trees are gone.

it flys everywhere with it quantum state of storage spewing away and it covers the entire world in miasma.

Its a dorf.
decided to settle in a haunted biome, for some reason all the surface water disappeared
it's been raining dwarf blood almost every day, I don't know what the dwarfs are using to clean themselves with but they seem to be all enjoying their baths lately
