I think you should be able to leave the fireteam and remain in the instance if you leave yourself through the menu but I dunno.
If we're gonna run again later, I'm down. Hopefully we'll all be able to bop in the same instance this time as well.
I thought so too but I didn't even have the option to leave the fireteam anywhere, checked every menu and the return to orbit UI and nothing =/
Whose idea was it to not allow you to have matchmaking on Raids? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Jumped into Rumble with a friend so he could help me get sword kills for the exotic quest, turns out there were two other people with the same idea so the whole match turned into everybody running around hitting each other with empty swords like idiots :v:

TBH from what I've seen of the raids a matchmade group would get fucking destroyed the majority of the time due to lack of communication, people not knowing tactics etc
I would absolutely hate getting a group of randoms in the raid personally, but i never go in without a full fireteam.

Why? Why do raids need matchmaking?
Why? Why do raids need matchmaking?
The rest of the game either allows matchmaking or pairs you together with other people, so why not? The whole idea of "lack of communication" doesn't make any sense to me. The game already has voice chat, and communication is already important in any other co-op related activity.
I don't have any friends who own the game, and it would only be faster and easier to actually get paired with other people if they want so as well. So at least having an option wouldn't hurt anybody.
It's just a really unnecessary limitation in my opinion

Because having no choice over who you have in the hardest content in the game isn't a good thing?

He means as an option. It's pretty dumb there isn't an option to matchmake.
Nightfall's don't allow matchmaking either because they're fucking hard.
If you need a group use https://www.the100.io/
And You'll get stuck with groups who don't know what they're doing 90% of the time, unless you get in with a premade fire team by some chance.

At least there's this. Thank you very much for the link.
raids are super complex unless you have a team you know, matchmaking would probably be a disaster
raids are super complex unless you have a team you know, matchmaking would probably be a disaster
I could see it being horrible and being useful about 60/40 percent of the time. Mostly because of people without mics
Awyis, 295 light with my best gear on, 293 with my usual loadout, gonna have to find a King's Fall group soon enough.
You would never finish a single raid if it had matchmaking. All it takes is one idiot/griefer to fuck up the whole raid. Then there's people who don't bother to use mics, so what if half your team doesn't have a mic?
Just use a LFG site, it's really simple. This is probably the most used one http://www.destinylfg.net/
Most of the people on there know what they're doing. Unlike the randoms you would probably find in strikes.

I haven't beaten the raid yet, I got up to [sp]The Daughters[/sp] and it wasn't really that bad so far with some dorks from destinylfg. The only reason we couldn't beat them was because two nerdos were fighting with each other and focused on that telling each other off rather than the raid. Maybe they could have a lower tier raid (less difficult versions of the boss with slightly worse rewards, but that can also help you gear up for the "real" raid). Getting past 295-297 sucks right now, I wouldn't be surprised if trying to even get past 290 caused a decent amount of players to quit out of frustration.
Matchmaking (or LFR) would be awesome, it's crazy that I have to leave the game and use a third party website to find a group. That's what kept me away from vanilla Destiny and it's starting to make me think about giving up on TTK.
Destiny barely has any social options in the game and none of my friends play Destiny (I don't blame them) so it's crazy for Bungie to think there are a lot of players with 5 other friends who all play Destiny, who are all free at the same time, and that are all geared up to raid.
This isn't me shitting on Destiny or anything like that, I really like the direction they're going in with this but they still have a long way to go before I would consider this a great game. But locking down the most interesting content in the game and putting this huge barrier of needing 5 other people you know to play with you is insane. LFR or matchmaking could do a lot of good for Destiny, maybe they'll figure that out next year.

There are games with matchmaking that still allow kicking. I don't see how Destiny couldn't allow kicking if they were to implement matchmaking. I also imagine they would be some sort of algorithm to the matches made. It could look for how many time you completed a raid, light level, all that stuff. Match the people who are new with the people who are new, match experienced players with experienced players.

how can you decide whats fair when you haven't even finished the raid?
all it takes is one bad player to fuck up the experience for the others, and i will gladly take the extra 20 minutes it takes to find someone instead of getting a bunch of shitty randoms
Again, options are options. It doesn't hurt anybody who isn't willing.
But yeah, I'm probably gonna keep myself away from Raids because barely anybody on the PS3 seems to be organized enough to care. I'll probably get it again on the PS4 if I ever get one. (Or on PC assuming it ever comes out)
Man once Xur turns up I can buy literally 55 Three of Coins, gonna be gooooooooooood.

I imagine a vote to kick option wouldn't be hard for Bungie to implement. I did most of it, I can tell it's the most interesting content Destiny has, and most people who beat it say the same thing. I didn't have to beat it to tell it's stupid to hide the best content in a game that has a lack of content to begin with.

votekick option is already a thing on raid parties. There have been many cases where groups will use a random to get them through a raid to the chest, just to kick them when they're at the part they want, and invite their friend to get the loot.
And you're suggesting that this should be a public matchmaking feature?
I have a group of friends I play with who I know personally (co workers) and my current raid group, one person I know and the rest are on the other side of the country on the east coast. You don't need to know people to raid. Lfg some groups and make friends. If you aren't a goober and don't fuck up send some friend requests and try and make it a regular thing with that group.
Clearest image we have so far of the new Iron Banner gear

using lfg, io, /r/fireteams, etc is actually pretty damn effective
my run with 2 randoms from /r/fireteams was the smoothest raid ive ever done
[editline]1st October 2015[/editline]
the hunter cloak doesn't look as cool as i thought it would
Got a dead orbit class item from a nightfall run. I hate Y2 nightfalls.
Welp, it seems like my first raid is going to end at Golgoroth. Easy stuff so far actually, just a little coordination needed.
[editline]1st October 2015[/editline]
Also got Elulim's Frenzy.

oh my god i need full sets of that shit NOW
[editline]1st October 2015[/editline]
too bad i don't have ps+ anymore
[editline]1st October 2015[/editline]
or a ps4
I don't have PS+ and I'm stuck in a shitload of Quests because they all require me to do Strikes.
Also, people have been calling me out because I don't let them join my fireteam. I tell them I can't do it because the game doesn't let you do that without PS+ and people go like "REALLY DUDE? U CAN'T DO THAT WITHOUT PLUS?" and they think I'm bullshitting them.
