Well, me and one of my trials buddies got lucky then. We both got full auto, and I got Third Eye. I've seen someone else with a full auto trials scout.
There are only so many first perks it can get randomly, full auto is fairly common.

By the way you said you got disconnected like that it seems like it was a DDOS. If you could report them still, I would. Bungie really needs to step up against that shit. It's pretty much impossible to win a match if you're down 1 in trials

The first perk is always full auto on the Trials scout. It's only the second perk that can be random, and it's only got about 4 options. It's just like the raid weapons.

I've been playing the trial for Destiny and it's okay so far. I don't really have friends to play with. Is it worth getting mainly for PvP? I wish I didn't have to buy it to try that part. And I've heard the base game sucks compared to the Taken King. So should I just use the item in my inventory that automatically makes me level 25 or should I level up from scratch since it's my first character?

People say to just level your first character normally but I don't think you're missing anything. Totally up to you.

I would play the base game and save the consumable if you want to make another character

So in regards to PvP? I was hoping this would be a pretty big selling point coming from Bungie and all. This may change but it's my main interest at the moment.

I don't play PvP that much, but I think it takes a backseat to the PvE content. PvP is fun but limited in customization - you can't even make private lobbies/matches to play against friends. it is pretty fun and in my experience not laggy, even though there are no dedicated servers, but the content is way below what a lot of games offer. I wouldn't buy Destiny if you're going to be focused on PvP
Crucible(PvP) is a love or hate kind of thing imo
the gunplay itself is great but theres a lot of issues with balancing
the lack of custom games is also fucking appalling this is 2015 for christs sake

Yeah that's one thing I was a bit curious about. How they keep the pvp balanced being sort of an MMO with many different levels and equipment varieties.
Also I thought they recently added custom games with the last expansion?

Nope, it really is terrible. Ever since the game came out I've wanted to 1v1v1 my two friends without any other interference. Even just having private matches would be such an improvement, we don't need any halo-style custom game modifiers.
It would also help develop the more competitive side of this game enormously.
