You can start sniping the tank before it even lands and take it 2/3 of its health before it lands. Snipers + crit spots = 2 stronk

My friend and I have both played Destiny for a couple hundred hours each, we're both level 28. But we have never done any raids. How easy is VOG for two complete scrubs?

If you were on Xbone I'd do it with you.
Anyway, the Vault of Glass is piss easy now. So many strats have been found to make it easy such as the shield strat with the relic on the final boss.
If you find a team that's at least done it once or twice I bet you could finish it in under two hours. Obviously a game full of complete VoG noobs it could take you 12 hours. (My first time back when it released took me 3 days of breaks to beat it)
It's all up to your skill and the strats you use. I've done it more than I can count so if you need any tips just ask.

I'm using a old Voifang Vestiments, fully upgraded giving me 30 light, would it be better for me to upgrade to a DLC legendary chest armor (33 light at max) and try finding an exotic helm, or just buy a legendary DLC helm?
Currently using a 22 light Legendary Helm, unupgraded.

Not got any void weapons and I'm a Titan who does Arc and Solar Damage, going to have to browse the vendors for a void weapon so I can...get whatever this Dark Below questchain gives me. I can't do nightfall or weekly strikes I think until I complete the quest chain and killing 100 wizards/acolytes with void weaponry without dying is going to suck.

Wooo comcast. Having a bit of trouble connecting to the servers today.
God dam, I have 90 Ascendant energies and only 2 shards. Irritating as I haven't got a shard in like 10 hours of playtime. Just 8 energies.
Got legendary enagram, turn in and its just more ascending shards / materials i dont even need, Thank you based RNG god
Finally managed to get a legendary auto rifle, got the Up For Anything. Pretty nice, but eats through ammo.
