it's much less a bound level and more just a tangible measurement of your equipment, it seems. You even have a light rating at level 1. So like, you can unlock all the zones and general story content just by [I]playing[/I] to level 40 instead of reaching cap at 20 and being left to aimlessly collect better gear to level up beyond that, but being 40 still doesn't mean you're ready for the biggest baddest raids.
Feels to me like they're not 'removing' light levels so much as making the system less grindy just for sake of attaining level cap, and more comprehensive so people understand the correlation between gear and their capability. (hell if I could really tell how light was calculated before), it's like "oh this armor's 2 HP better than the one I have on now" [2 full levels gained] "cool this other piece blows my current one out of the water" [slight nudge]

In the patch notes and weekly update, it said that eris will be focusing her ire on oryx instead of crota, so she will not be offering bounties regarding Crota's troops any more.

I'm glad they moved away from light determining your level. Now they just need to take light off of class items, because it's killing character customization the exact same way light leveling did.
My ToO hood has 30 defense on it and the ugly blue hood I just got as a quest reward has 130. I swear, Bungie doesn't think these things through.

Does the level of the PoE affect the queens chest rewards at all? Planning on doing a bunch of 28's since the exotics were moved to the queens chest.

They did, after the update, but there was a nightfall this week.
So according to destiny ghost hunter i have 85/77 dead ghosts. I know that 3 of the extras are in Crota's End and then the three under the grottos on earth, but i have no idea what the last two are.

Crotas End is harder now because of the Sword Clash Mechanic they added.
Theres a chance if you hit an enemy with a sword, with a sword they'll parry your hit causing you to get knocked back slightly.
