The level cap is now 40, so end game stuff has been readjusted. Surely you didn't expect them to keep level 20 heroic/nightfalls around?
No but maybe up it to level 30ish. I was just surprised they made it the current cap.
Consider level 40 the new 20
Should I just trash all of my old stuff except exotics since they're pretty much useless now?
So, this has probably been asked, so sorry in advance, but I heard this expansion changed a lot of things that people had problems with in this game. Is that true? Or is it just more of the same and if you were let down by it before this won't bring you back?
So what's everyone's opinion on Nolandroid vs Dinklebot? I kinda prefer Nolandroid because Dinklebot just sounded bored to me. I know he's a robot and all but still.

From what I've played so far. Best Super is Stormcaller, then Nightstalker then Sunbreaker. (Might just have been because Taggart was barely using his super) Best Grenade was Storm, Sun then Night. Melee was Night, Sun then Storm.

You want to read along with it in your head but the pacing and intonation really throws you off. however, it's good as a whole. I just think he went a tad too whimsical and sounds slightly breathey like he's JUST barely mocking a 'dumb blonde' accent or something

I bought the game on release (even got the limited edition PS4 with it) and enjoyed it - for maybe a week. It has changed so much since then, both in terms of content and in user experience - which in my opinion were the two worst things about the game initially. It is more of the same at the end of the day but the way it's done is much better for the player in lots of different ways. I would certainly suggest looking into it again.
If I do end up getting back into it, would I need to play all the prior expansions to actually play the most recent one?
The expansion gives an item that allows you to boost your character to level 25, the minimum level to participate in the expansion, so no. I would suggest doing some of the vanilla content before doing that though.

I probably won't buy TTK right off the bat, but it'll be something to consider if I like the changes enough.
You don't have to buy the old DLC. There's not really any reason to go back to year 1 DLC, but you will miss some major plot points in Dark Below if you care about that. House of Wolves is pretty irrelevant story wise, so you could definitely skip that one.
I played most of the expansions outside of endgame raiding and junk, and the most it should really make you feel out of place about is the fact everyone keeps saying "yeah so you killed this guy's son and now he came here and is fucking shit up because you're an asshole", while you just sit there like "why you gotta blame me I didn't do shit"
Anyone else having fun chest searching at the Dreadnaught? There's such much secret stuff as well like [sp]a cave with a chest but the moment you enter it, you start "taking consumption" losing health fast unable to actually make it to the chest. And another chest on a platform but the moment you step on it, you're attacked by lv36 Blind Thralls that are immune to all damage and the chest itself is locked. Doesn't say what key it reuiqres like the rest, but just "A scent is the key"[/sp]
is it just me or is nightstalker's ability rather lackluster for PvE? I can totally see the PvP benefit but it feels wasted on NPCs. You can pop one bigger dude with a good shot but then it just kind of inconveniences everyone around him, which the NPCs seem pretty quick to adjust to their situation and keep firing/finding the right cover, unlike a player would
You get to fire 2 more shots when you level it up enough, it's perks are great

Holy fuck, the taken captains are so annoying. Fuck that black screen bullshit they attack you with.

Shit you're right, misread the digital download prequisite.

This is completely random: But why did Bungie make Destiny an MMO? It would have worked so much better like Halo did, a singleplayer with multiplayer as well like most other games these days Granted you could say "dey alredy did dat" but not really.

TTK Finale spoilers [sp] Did Oryx just turn himself into one of the Taken at the end there?[/sp]
OMFG. Played the first mission of taken king. Yeah, again..not gonna blink for days. lol

Coming into Taken King as someone who thought Destiny was just kinda fun with friends, they really improved everything. I'd say it makes it a great game even, especially with how the people at the tower seem better characterized in it. Cayde turned into my favorite character.
