I wouldn't recommend leveling a subclass with motes. You'd need hundreds to even max one.
Just save them for leveling weapons and armor instead, and just use bounties to level the subclass even if it's a slow process.
As for other uses, all I can think of is buying shit from the Speaker, or the blessing emblems from Eva. We used to be able to buy exotic engrams for 23 motes, but they removed that.
Don't motes not affect subclasses anyway?
As for other uses, faction rep for 5. If you have fuckloads and want shit from them, give them some I guess.

They're less effective if used in quick succession, such as outside of strikes.

I just soloed the Daily Heroic (Kill Oryx, story etc) and feel pretty damn good. That was pretty intense.

Every day that goes on, I'm thinking less and less "lol people still play Destiny?" and more like "Well I have the base game, the controls were pretty good and the shooting was fun, and it'd be nice to have something I can keep coming back to..." Fuck.
If I have the base game, what would be the best way to upgrade to The Taken King? Just buy the $60 package that comes with the two DLCs and TTK?

If you have $40 just buy it off the store. If not go back to GameStop or whatever you have near you and return the base game and then get the physical copy of TTK.

Don't just buy TTK on it's own.
You need the first two DLC's for it.
Buy the $60 package with Base Game, Two DLC's and TTK.

Literally everything gives you them getting any faction ranked up gives you 5 motes and 5 coins

Completing the subclass quest will net you the bond for that subclass. On my hunter I'm sitting on a gunslinger one and a nightstalker one.
How many subclasses are there in the base game? What are considered sub-classes also? :v:

Base Game:
Warlock = Voidwalker & Sunsinger
Hunter = Gunslinger & Blade Dancer
Titan = Striker & Defender.
You unlock subclasses once you get your first character to level 15.
