i think the biggest issue with PoE is the fact that it barely changes. The mechanics arent interesting enough to allow for a small amount of bosses, so you ended up doing the exact same shit every week, which meant killing 35 major vandals over the course of 10 minutes. Obviously, you got a lot of motes/coins and other stuff as a reward, but all but 1 of the weapons was ever seen in play. I consider that mostly to be a result of rerolling (which i hated), but still, the weapons had no identity and very little use (other than Benevolence in Crucible.), the waves were as boring as they were grindy, and the bosses were basically bullet sponges with some half assed baby mechanics put in.
Skolas was the only good thing about PoE. He was intense as fuck.
House of Wolves was awful. It was the Mad Moxxis underdome DLC of Destiny

Still twice as good as Dark Below. House of Wolves had a great new social space, the wolf bounties, actually interesting characters, good story missions, but most importantly, Trials of Osiris.
Dark below on the other hand had 3 missions and a raid, all of which were mediocre.

PoE = X amount of trash waves to get to a maybe good boss fight
Court = straight to the boss fights which are usually hectic and super fun
Which is funny because way before Taken King was announced, I kept saying that PoE needed a special boss rush mode. Where you just bang out boss after boss after boss. Would've been so much better.

I'd play through the story first if you want to try and experience the lore and grind up. I don't really remember much of anything from the base story honestly...
Idk. Do what you feel. You can always revisit the content at lvl 25.
For those who have boosted, is there any gain from playing the first two expansion content? People seem to be running the strikes jus for the xp gains, which is fine, but I've noticed all the content is unlocked already. I have no direction on what I should be doing, it feels.

Probably because the story is enigmatic as fuck and they tell you nothing about everything. They just kinda expect you to either know already or accept. Seriously, I wish I could mute dialog and just have subtitles so I don't miss mission directions.

When my sister got her PS4 I played through Destiny before she sold it back to Gamestop and actually paid attention to the "story" and I can tell you they didn't explain anything. There are spoken lines in the game that are along the lines of "I could tell you but I'm not going to." Probably what offends me most about it is that the dialog still goes on and on throughout the game like you know what they're talking about you [I]never have a clue[/I]. I like playing Destiny, I think it's fun and I actually think it does some pretty old school MMO things which is surprising, but the story is one of the most thin and insulting things I've ever seen in a video game.
I would believe you if Taken King hadn't released. Now the story makes much more sense. It's been explained.
destiny is an extreme case of bad story, good lore
the lore is fucking amazing and fascinating IMO but like a tenth of it is actually in game, the rest is all in the Grimoire which is really dumb
And the Grimoire isn't even in the actual game.

even worse when after 4-5 chests game bugs out, you stop receiving rewards from chests, and have to go back to orbit to fix it
