Bethesda has already managed to create procedural cities and worlds before all the way back in Arena. I don't understand why it would be so much harder to do it now just because there's a higher poly count and less 2D assets.
Because the world no longer consists of a parking lot floor and cube buildings?? Do you have any idea how much work went into building the cities of oblivion and skyrim? Modern 3D worldbuilding and BUILD engine-esque cube generation have nothing in common.

Most of the parts are not complex in terms of the exterior shape - they tend to be square or rectangular, with some special parts that are intended to fit a certain spot (like columns) or serve as clutter.

Procedural generation can only go so far. In terms of world building, it could be useful for populating forests or oceanfloors or tabletops. It can't create whole world. Unless you're world is going to be bland and repetitive like most voxel games out there. Doing it by hand gives opportunities to tell stories simply through how the world looks. There are countless cases in Fallout and Elder Scrolls where you can go into a building, or shack, or cave and piece together a story from what is lying around even if there are no journals kicking about. Bethesda do a lot of subliminal story telling like that. Procedural generation could never come close to doing stuff like that outside of very linear stories like the continually repeating assassination quests in Skyrim.
I wonder if there are mods so I can turn roll of papers and random herbs into joints. Or a pipe instead of roll of paper. [editline]27th July 2015[/editline] Also, it's kinda bullshit that you can't eat raw mushrooms for hunger. And other really random ingredients like giant's toes. Not that there isn't a lot of food in Skyrim.. Or alternatively/additionally, more drugging effects. I think there was a drug mod for NV that added some effects. :v:

It could be a lot of things.. but knowing Bethesda, not so much.

Are there any mods that allow Morrowind or even Oblivion-style equiping?
Are there any mods that allow Morrowind or even Oblivion-style equiping?
Could you be more specific? :v:
I think he maybe means more armor options than the ones in Skyrim. But I have yet to see that.
Because we haven't found a way to do it, and bethesda won't throw us a bone and update their tools to give us the ability to do it, same problem as new weapon types + animations.
Actually something more along the lines of these: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23173/? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49608 http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32948/?

So a couple of months ago I was contracted to write a modding guide for skyrim, and it's finally available (I finished writing it a while back but complications on the editor's side pushed things back a little). http://www.gamersnexus.net/gg/2025-skyrim-graphics-mod-overhaul-and-benchmarks-2015 Quite happy with the final result, despite the time it took to come out.
I just spent two weeks out on a summer camp, at there I talked with some guys about Skyrim and Dark Souls a bit, got myself really hyped to play both of those again, got home, fired up Skyrim, fucked around for a few minutes, then turned it off and don't really want to play it again. Help
Nah, discovered physical sports and don't really even play video games now; BJJ is the shit.
scrub [sp]i have literally no idea what BJJ is[/sp]
brazilian jiu-jitsu it's like the pop of martial arts now. shame actually, the art itself is fantastic, but too many faggots make it not seem worth getting into because they just go to the classes to get in shape and try to get laid. mostly.

Getting mad because people are doing something for *slightly* different reasons than the reason you might be doing something is stupid.
dont be ridiculous, im too lazy to get into martial arts im just saying that its become very popular and like most other things that get super popular real fast it kinda deteriorates from what made it so awesome in the first place. now i have to go find a fighting style that's still somewhat underground, like penchak silat.
There is this :v:
And there's apparently this too, which sounds better but I haven't dared to install either. In fact my complaint here is that both of them add drugs from, well.. real life, like cocaine cannabis heroin.. In fucking Skyrim. But this "Skyhighrim" mod also the adds ability to prepare the various mushrooms in the game, like as if cooking with weird/colorful effects included when you eat them. Plus a few other herbs for drugging effects like night vision with different shades. So, I might give that a shot.
I'm just going to plug this here. Beyond Skyrim's Bruma project is starting to take shape. They're closer than they've ever been, and it all looks amazing. They posted this video of their interiors (one of the last things they need to do for Bruma) a couple of days ago. If any of you are versed in modding in the creation kit, the Beyond Skyrim guys are always looking for more helping hands.
So what exactly are they trying to do? I can't tell if they'e just making resource packs or they're actually trying to recreate the whole of tamriel..
So what exactly are they trying to do? I can't tell if they'e just making resource packs or they're actually trying to recreate the whole of tamriel..
Their aim is to make all of Tamriel to explore, during Skyrim's time period. This includes more items, NPC enemies, and ultimately a "main questline" for each region. It's an incredibly lofty goal, and the only projects that are making any headway are Cyrodiil, High Rock, and Hammerfell. So far, only the Cyrodiil project has almost finished with Bruma. Even so, the things that they have accomplished so far makes it feel incredibly exciting. I've found it a very worthy effort to help with (I'm voice acting). Again, if anyone is able and willing to contribute, go to their site. I just really want to see this realized (at least, to a good extent).
I suppose that at least sets it apart form Skyblivion and Skywind. I was worried that they were going for a similar goal.
I suppose that at least sets it apart form Skyblivion and Skywind. I was worried that they were going for a similar goal.
It's evidently a common misconception with Beyond Skyrim. Nearly everyone I talk to about it seems to think that it's trying to remake the older games. :v: Skywind = Explore Vvardenfell as Nerevarine Beyond Skyrim = Explore Morrowind as Dragonborn. If they ever get to making it :v:
If the morrowind one is ever done, and if skywind ever comes out, I'm going to try to make a mod that has you use an elder scroll to go back in time to take over Nerevarine in that exact spot. It would be a fun little mod
I would be way more enthusiastic about modding Skyrim if the Creation Kit wasn't a pile of shit.
