Patch 1.9 broke animations and lip syncing and they never fixed it.
usually if something like that happens on a later patch, the cost of effort to fix it outweighs the benefits of fixing it. Kinda sucks when that happens.
Such is life with software development
I know right, probably my biggest complaint. They allow players to make different looking (and even sized I think) characters, yet forcing the same voice for all. why
But like I've said, that voice isn't going to make it or break it.
The game looks like a blast of the year, unless they miraculously managed to make the entire game hollow and short, after all the impressions and different factions we've gotten from trailers and other announcements, and some leaked material.

I can't imagine it ever working in an Elder Scrolls game, unless you get more voice actors for the main protagonist(s) of each race.
Or a single very impressive voice actor to do all of them.
Dee Bradley Baker
I just got really interested in Skyrim again right before Fallout comes out. Damn
Nolan North voices everyone in Skyrim 2 trust me my dad is COE of Microsoft.
Man I wish Bethesda would go back to having a rich world like Morrowind.
So much culture and lore to explore in that game, it was like stepping into a new world.

So Basically re-hiring Kirkbride... and someone else to restrain him when he starts writing about robots and flying Minotaurs again

No, let him do the cluster fuck, sounds more interesting
No, let him do the cluster fuck, sounds more interesting
For some reason a generic fantasy world + some unique elements sounds more interesting to me than a clusterfuck of a family world. It's like there'd be too much interesting stuff to the point where nothing's interesting anymore.

I adore his weird stuff, but it needs to stay on the sidelines. For one thing, then TES would lose it's appeal for the huge amount of people who aren't into that stuff, and then bye bye TES games (or at least TES games with MK involvement).
For another thing, it just wouldn't work as a game, it would be too insane to know what is even happening most of the time.
I would love if he had a direct role in the next game rather than being freelance writer/Bethesda's favourite fanfiction writer.

i don't mean literally
but seriously i've seen a lot of people who find out about the deep lore and say "wow, i'm glad that's not in the games" or who simply don't care and are happier without it being shoved in their faces
it would keep most of its fans, but it would lose some
edit: it was an awful way to put it
university has killed my ability to into words

I didn't mean as the main part of the game, but the extra lore and stuff.

what I've noticed is that fans either ignore the lore because they don't care, or they love the lore and gobble up all of MK's shit
really I don't see any problem with him getting involved in it again
Kirkbride's crazy ass writing works well as background lore.
I like TES as a seemingly rather light fantasy universe that's really simple to grasp but then the deeper you look the more crazy eldritch horrors and other lovecraftian creatures there are.
Having it be balls deep insane from the get go with all the crazy alien shit immediately visible to the viewer kind of alienates the more occult/esoteric aspects of the lore.
I'd love a TES game that's got a seemingly dead-simple and classic plot (simpler than Skyrim) then halfway through you get a huge bait and switch and suddenly the game turns into full on MK territory.
I'm not a big fan of MK's side-story because it's so utterly incomprehensible. Stop staring at Cthulhu, Mike.
Also I like Nirn, don't destroy it.

Imo the only other fantasy worlds with lore as deep as TES are Thedas and Middle Earth. Losing one of them would break my heart.
The big problem with Kirkbride's lore is that most of it can never ever be put in the game. Sure, the concept of giant moth spaceships on a religious expedition to the Corpse-Moon is flipping awesome, but actually putting that into gameplay would be a nightmare for the developers. Kirkbride's stuff as fluff is always great, but then it always ends in disappointment as Bethesda once again refuses to try and slot his batshit crazy ideas into the story.
The best actual use of kirkbride is for concept art, he's good at more exotic themes which would be especially useful if Beth decides to visit the elven provinces.
there needs to be a wild wasteland perk in like the alteration tree that adds kirkbride's stuff into the world
do you wish to spend 1 perk point to unlock 'CHIM it out brotha'?
credits roll

The way Bethesda does it where it's there already, but only if you look for it, is the best way imo.
I would love to see him have a more direct role again, but seeing as even though he's still friends with the devs, he quit during development of Morrowind and only comes back when they ask him to write something, I don't think it will happen.

"yeah we're gonna go to the corpse moon to meet our god on this sick-ass giant moth! hop on dude!!"
and then you get there after a single loading screen and it's like a 2x2 kilometer square with one repeating texture and 20 fps with a bunch of NPC's milling around talking about mudcrabs

oh
bethesda couldn't use his writing because everything flaccid about skyrim would be multiplied if there were supposed to be actually interesting things happening

There may have not been a stellar main quest, but with shit like this I can't help but grin.

it's funny when you fuck that jump up and land too close to the rocks and the impact kills you.
USLEEP has been released.
USLEEP has been released.
what the hell is USLEEP? Link?
I totally forgot Skyrim had unarmed kill animations. I was fighting a bandit and ran out of mana, so I swapped over to my fists and punched him to finish him off. Renault the mage proceeds to pick the bandito up, spin him around and then slam him head first onto the ground. I think I'll rename him to Macho Mage Renault Savage.
what the hell is USLEEP? Link?
usleep is a function used in the programming language 'c' on the operating system Linux.
The usleep() function suspends execution of the calling thread for (at least) usec microseconds. The sleep may be lengthened slightly by any system activity or by the time spent processing the call or by the granularity of system timers.
But U.S.L.E.E.P. is this
Is it any different than the other unofficial patches?
Same team. They just merged them.
For some reason installing USLEEP just makes Alternate Start stop working entirely. Which makes no sense because it's not a master mod, it'd crash if it was, and I don't renember seeing anything in the desc saying that AS required the other unofficial memes to work properly.
Good thing I can just rollback n stuff
