Mods that improve or enhance gameplay experience without completely changing the game.
Duel-wield parrying is a pretty 'vanilla+' mod
Violens for controlling the frequency and properties of killcams
Manual Crossbow Reload
Cutting Room Floor (can speak for its additions as I haven't seen them fully, but it aims to restore cut content)
Unlocked Grip (switch any weapons from 1h to 2h if you want that sort of thing)
Trade Routes (gives areas different prices on different goods based on the region's supply, demand, and prosperity. Basically allows you to 'discover' spots where you can buy X item low and sell Y item high)
[editline]24th November 2015[/editline]
Honestly though the best way to do this is to look through stuff like GEMS or STEP (p sure STEP has a whole 'vanilla+' section of recommended mods) or even just going through every catagory of the nexus top 100 and just deciding what you do or don't want

Pretty much the whole STEP Core compilation is regarded by the maintainers as Vanilla+, I think.

Yeah, it pretty much is from what I see on their forums. The majority of the mods included in it are either lore friendly textures, or bug fixes. Extended is generally where they put the stuff that takes away from the vanilla game more, but even then they try to keep it is lore friendly for Skyrim in general.
I'd say it'd be worth installing STEP Core at the very least, and maybe look through the STEP Packs on their forums. Extended will eventually be a pack itself (when they get to 2.3.0), but right now it's just an extension of the recommended mods. Plus, they recently released 2.2.9.2 that includes support with USLEEP.
It'd be nice if Bethesda took some time to build upon CE for TESVI. I'm sure it could be a half decent engine if they put some more time into it, afterall, the differences between CE and actual Gamebryo were pretty significant. A CE2 where they take their time to address the most obvious issues would make TESVI pretty good.
Edit: They also took away a LOT from mods for FO4. If they did that for TESVI and in the process took tips from the mods that fixed their broke dick game, that'd be okay too.
Tbh I think Beth should invest in a bigger and better software division to work on an engine.
The thing about Beth is that they probably don't just want a better engine, they want a successor to the current build that they're familiar with, and I feel that something like that probably won't just be made unless Beth works to make it happen.
Well I mean, that's literally what they're doing every game. They're just not doing it very well.
As they take the engine, apply band-aids and tack on improvements with every game, it also becomes jankier and jankier every time. At least in my experience, every game they've made since Morrowind has been jankier than the last.

Which is why I think they should start with something fresh as opposed to just tweaking an older engine more and more and more.
Is the Ashes of Apocalypse total conversion for Morrwoind any good?
Is the Ashes of Apocalypse total conversion for Morrwoind any good?
Not really
It's interesting that it exists but beyond that it's not exactly well-made.

They'll probably just keep going with it until one of their games flops for being so buggy even the mainstream people can't ignore it.

This might sound silly of me to say, but it's doubtful that that will ever happen.
The engine itself isn't bad, it's just that beth is not good at making engines, as seen in daggerfall being the buggiest thing ever. Gamebryo is a powerful engine when used right, hell mods can make morrowind look BETTER than skyrim.
when beth makes changes and changes and adds on to it each time their incompetence at developing stable code starts to surface. Morrowind is mostly stock gamebryo which is a licensed engine, and is thus far less buggy.

Morrowind is still pretty buggy in its own right.
A Bethesda game wouldn't be a Bethesda game without a superfluous amount of technical errors.
The textures on these little Nordic burial mounds in the walls always seem to be missing and I can never figure out a solution.

Is there a fix for this?
delete the texture and perhaps it'll revert to the original
delete the texture and perhaps it'll revert to the original
Idk what the texture is being changed by is part of the problem :v:
Speaking of which I have a problem with my child hands not showing up. The only mod that affects children I'm running is the one that makes them killable, I doubt that's it.
I tried extracting the childhands.nif file and putting it in the character assets folder, doesn't really do anything. I checked through tes5edit and nothing's really fucking up the childhands file. It's a really weird glitch that's always been in my Skyrim, even without mods.
Idk what the texture is being changed by is part of the problem :v:
might be in something that looks like:
data\textures\Dungeons\tombs\blah blah blah
the whole thing is going to be a crapshoot and i recommend getting a DDS thumbnail thingy for windows explorer

Oh no, it's a buggy mess, but it's the least buggy mess of the the buggy messes!
Unless you're me and you run 10 thousand mods
Is Morrowind worth buying from the sale? It's 6,69€ for the whole shebang.
I remember playing it for less than an hour over 5 years ago and stopped because I may have gotten it through illegitimate means and wanted to actually buy the game since I liked it, but at this point I have no idea if my feelings towards it have stayed the same.
So all in all, that game still worth over 5 euros?
Morrowind still holds up really well as long as you ignore the fucking trash ass combat system.
Pick argonian, pick the warrior's birthstone, get Endurance and Spear as your primary attribute and major skill, get the first spear you can find in the game and stomp over the game all the way up to Dagoth Ur's stupid masked up face.

I don't think I've ever had Morrowind crash short of really messing something up, like forgetting to activate an ESM and using its ESPs. Morrowind just handled conflicts a lot better than Skyrim. Yeah, you'd get errors in-game, but it wouldn't crash, so you'd have a chance to fix it. Skyrim just blows up the instant the it doesn't like something for some reason.
At least morrowind's combat doesnt make me feel like Im fighting on a goddamn slip n slide (oblivion). Despite morrowind's stupid decisionto include rng, its controls are probably the most responsive out of all the games (until you get caught on a collision box when jumping with really high acrobatics.)
does anyone here play the shitfest that is online
I never played elder scrolls before besides a bit of oblivion (my computer cant really run it, but it can run online for some reason), and I didn't know anything about research and deconstruction/crafting and suddenly I'm in mid-veteran ranks with shit crafting skills. I do wish to craft things with enchantments and attributes and stuff when I hit V16, but it's kind of far fetched now.
Can anybody help me with that? I might be good for materials but my skills are so underwhelming late in the game that its really hampering my ability to do anything regarding.

Not nearly that far in the game, but what I've been doing is having a few characters who are more dedicated crafters and trading materials to them, and crafted items back.
Also, don't worry about not playing a previous TES game, gameplay-wise all ESO has in common with the singleplayer games is the emphasis on exploration and player freedom, and it doesn't do either to the same extent.

I've heard nothing but good about ESO, as of the current patch / expac.

I saw that's what other people were doing too, but honestly I can't bring myself to just tediously level up by doing shit I already did on a throwaway character.
I don't wanna do that, I feel like that would take away from my positive experience.
But owning a complete V14-16 armor set, accessories, and staffs would be pretty great.

I'm pretty sure there's some players who will craft stuff for others, too.
Gotta find one when I get to that point.
I'm pretty sure they want monetary compensation? If so, I'm pretty set on Gold.
There's a lot of trading going on in ESO regarding crafted gear.
It's usually only money they're after but you may be able to trade some manuals if you find any, some of them are worth a lot.
