Same can be said about skyrim.
Thing is, Skyrim can be "tolerable" with a minimum of decent mods. Vanilla Oblivion makes me borderline physically ill. [editline]sfasp[/editline] And on the other hand, I can enjoy Morrowind without any mods at all provided I'm in the right mindset for it. Which means I have to turn my brain back on, which is difficult after playing the newer Elder Scrolls for so long :v: [editline]adsf[/editline] Well, functionally "unmodded". Morrowind is pretty dated and it's still a Gamebryo Bethesda game, so bugfixes, a few minor tweaks, small atmospheric mods and maybe MGE is like my minimum.
Oblivion needs so many mods to be tolerable. It's almost tragic.
I nearly went insane playing Oblivion without mods And it's a shame too because I really wanted to appreciate it but I couldn't take one step without seeing something that I felt was in desperate need of modifying
I feel like the odd man out here for jumping right into vanilla Oblivion for 8 hours before even downloading the unofficial patches for it. :V (Part of that is probably due to having no idea how the scaling worked, or even how to level up-- I assumed it worked just like Skyrim and got a surprise the first time I slept --but the rest just seems totally what I'd expect for a game from 2006.) Personally my biggest problem with it is something that mods can't address-- namely, the fact that the map looks like an agitated mound of mashed potatoes more than any recognizable geography.
The moment I saw this on the Nexus I couldn't wait for someone to put up a video of it
Chruses jist [editline]asfd[/editline] Just get a fucking woman to do the voice, I don't care who. Anything but demonic Donald Duck.

nothing is sacred submit
Same can be said about skyrim.
Skyrim still is the better base game though. In a very subtle and slight way, but it is.
So uh, anyone else get that wicked annoying bug where you're playing Skyrim and you open the Steam overlay and suddenly it thinks your shift key is constantly on so EVERYTHING YOU TYPE LOOKS A LOT LIKE THIS< AND NOTHING YOU DO CHANGES IT SO TALKING WITH FRIENDS IN THE OVERLAY IS SUPER HARD? yeah how the fuck do i stop that from happening

I have that bug too, it's strange. I don't know how to fi it.
'See what you have wrought, silly Triune! Columns of nonsense and litany fiends! I cannot believe how reason or temperance can be made whole again due to your eating, eating, eating! Consort with more demons, why don't you?' Vivec stabbed the wizard through his soul.
rekt

I just slap both shift keys a few times and it fixes it for me
Just press caps lock.
Skyrim does really weird things with the keyboard when it involves the overlay, I use home to open the overlay but skyrim is that one single game which is so borked it makes it so I need to press 7 on my numpad to open it. And the only reason I found out which key opens the overlay is by pressing every single key on the keyboard. I'm assuming skyrim shits itself and inverts key functions for no god damn reason since numpad 7 works like the home button with numlock off, and that would explain the "sticky" shift keys.

Of course, I have to do that every time I open the overlay.
If I wanted to give Skyrim a hardcore system like what Fallout New Vegas got, what mods would I need then? I would want a system that required you to sleep, eat and drink. It would also be nice if it was an easy way to see how hungry/thirsty your char were, without having to press (x) and see some small popup messages. Any suggestions?
iNeed works well enough. I use it.
Change the Steam Overlay hotkey to something else.
Doesn't work. If I bind it to another key it does diddly dick. The only combination that works seems to be Shift + Tab. [editline]30th May 2015[/editline] The reason why I feel like it's a bug being caused by Skyrim is because it never happens to me in any other game.
After tabbing in and out a few times I've noticed my character randomly starts sneaking without me pressing the button, sometimes a few minutes after tabbing back in. It happens with no particular rhyme or reason that I can tell and seemingly only after I've tabbed out a few times.
Nexus logic.
This random sneaking is getting ridiculous, I was trying to read a book in the College of Winterhold and accidentally stole an inkwell, causing me to get fried.
What the fuck is wrong with my Lydia:
P sure that can happen if an NPC turns invisible (from like a stealth mod or whatever). Has she been invisible-ing? [editline]asdf[/editline] Disabling and re-enabling her should fix it, but that's bound to get annoying if it keeps happening.

She actually made me jump from my chair a few times. Oh well, i'll download a glasses mod or just shout her down from High Hrothgar. Again.

Again.
I remade the "Fix Double Face Bug" spell from the Unofficial Oblivion Patch because I reckon it'd help with this too. It shouldn't conflict with anything, all it does to vanilla anything is add a marker to the "Elsweyr" cell that gets moved around when you cast a spell. Please note I didn't get a chance to test it on someone with actual rendering issues, but I bumped into a Necromancer on the road and the spell seems to work. Known issues: * On existing saves, the spell doesn't get added. I marked it as "PC Start Spell" but I guess that's not a retroactive thing. You can add it with: player.addspell xx000d62 * The menu icon looks weird. This is because I didn't actually look for a "menu item display" object that was designed for the spells menu, I just scrolled and picked something. * Since the spell moves the actor's reference to M'aiq the Liar and back (because I didn't want to make two references in Elsweyr), it might not work if M'aiq is nearby. For best results, go to an interior cell.
