I think it's pretty clear that the only reason people play Skyrim is for porn mods
I remember one of the Mage Guild quests that was wicked hard for me you like went into one dudes dreams and shit and the mobs were always like 3 levels over me
I remember that quest being a bitch. Had 3 minotaurs if I remember correctly?
I remember that quest being a bitch. Had 3 minotaurs if I remember correctly?
something like that
I think it's pretty clear that the only reason people play Skyrim is for porn mods
I like roleplaying as a blacksmith and just crafting shittons of swords.
I like to try interesting builds, currently doing a clothes only/no alteration spellsword orc with a flair for alchemy. Basically a glass cannon build that's less boring than sneak archer. Doing master difficulty with perma and asis pretty swell.
I'm currently working on a modlist program so that I can sort through my mods better, would anybody be willing to try it out when I'm done? It doesn't actually change your load order or mess with any mods, it's just meant as a better version of the mod sorting feature in Mod Organizer, so that you can see more clearly what you should/shouldn't activate and what order everything should be in, what each mod does, etc.
Guys, I need help. Whenever I try to enter the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary I get a desktop crash. Tried searching for help on the net, but I all I can find is type "coc DarkBrotherHoodSanctuary" in the console and I still get the crash. This is the first time I'm going in there and have no idea how to solve this :c Edit: I have no mods, only the dlc downloaded. I have completed the main story. If this is of any help.
:words:
I think every thing you said is spot on, and Bethesda's (or Todd Howard, because he's been the game director for BGS games ever since Morrowind) ideal that the player should be able to see everything in one playthrough makes sense as to why the game was made this way. I think that BGS are perceptive enough to see if the majority of players like or dislike it, and will change accordingly, after all, Skyrim has been the only game of theirs to do this. Let's hope that they listen to their fans.
The worst thing about the Skyrim DB quest is that it's basically set up so there's zero consequence to meeting the conditions to join it. In Oblivion you had to actually murder an innocent person which gets you into hot water with the guards. In Skyrim there's zero consequence to killing Grelod because everyone hates her so much that the guards turn a blind eye.

It's fucking #9 right now on the Steam stats page and it came out over three years ago. I don't think I'd call Skyrim tedious either, it's not playing replaying it is a chore like a jRPG could be or something.

I look at it objectively, and skyrim can be very repetitive, it's combat middling, and the writing not the best, but I have 2000 hours of playtime. I fucking don't get it.
Skyrim is one of those games that you know is incredibly flawed, something you might even outright say you dislike, but when it grabs you, it doesn't let go.
Skyrim is one of those games that you know is incredibly flawed, something you might even outright say you dislike, but when it grabs you, it doesn't let go.
That's usually bethesda games in a nutshell.
I have a bajillion hours because imagination. Also it and Fallout are the only games of their kind out there (obviously there's Oblivion and Morrowind too, but Morrowind hasn't aged very well and I can't get over the faces in Oblivion. Also Oblivion randomly screws up on me and becomes unplayable whenever I get momentum with it), and I really, REALLY like this style of game. When I was little I would just wander around the hubs of 3D platformer games, because that's all I really wanted to do. :v:

You can just go around and beat rabbits to death with your fists exclusively if you want and the game just keeps on going. And it's insanely modable. So you can have actual fuckery.

I've made up countless random senseless excuses about how the game is ugly, or complex, or the voice acting is bad when none of those things are true. It doesn't grab at me the same way Skyrim does, plain and simple. I completed Morrowind despite the weird combat and I loved games that were complete horrid garbage, but I still can't get that fucking Oblivion main quest done. I swear I've reinstalled the game 30 fucking times over the last 4 years, only to mod it a little bit and uninstall it after reaching the city. I might just have mental problems at this rate
I've found that Oblivion with mods is actually way more fun than Skyrim with mods

People probably say the same thing about Skyrim but I actually love it's environments. Maybe because I live in Colorado. And I know there are mods to fix it too (Oblivion, not Skyrim) but I just haven't gone back to Oblivion yet because Mod Organizer doesn't like multiple installations.
The general opinion is that Mod Organizer isn't recommended for Oblivion Use Oblivion Mod Manager and Wyre Bash instead
Now I'm just turned off completely.
I use nexus client and LOOT for both.

I suplexed Grelod the Kind. You'd think the guards would comment on that.
*big rant about Skyrim's faction questlines*
Let's not forget the odd trend of the former guild leaders either being killed by the main antagonist (College and Companions) or by the player character for betraying the guild because they're either making a huge profit off of them and telling a Daedric Prince to go fuck herself (Thieves Guild) or because they're petulant about change and don't want to see their faction return to their former glory (Dark Brotherhood). [editline]28th June 2015[/editline]
But in Oblivion you're not grabbed by the hand and brought to the quests, and when you start them out you're just another nobody who's joined in for whatever personal motivation they may have. Don't forget the part of the main quest of Skyrim where you're essentially forced to join the thieves guild to know where Esbern is, at least on your first playthrough.
If you have a decent level in Speechcraft you can skip Brynjolf's offer with a persuasion check. [editline]28th June 2015[/editline] Hell, if you have 100 Speech then you can literally skip the "test" to get into the College of Winterhold with a persuasion check. It's just sad how easy it is to get into these guilds. The faction questlines are the only thing that make me want to install and play Oblivion. Then I remember everything else I don't like about the game and how tedious it is to mod and I give up.
The faction questlines are the only thing that make me want to install and play Oblivion.
Mage's guild questline was amazing simply for the adventure it took to get in
Mage's guild questline was amazing simply for the adventure it took to get in
I'm all about the Dark Brotherhood, but I've heard the Mage's Guild is arguably one of the best factions in Oblivion. But again, for the aforementioned reasons (like how Mod Organizer doesn't play nicely with Oblivion), I can't bring myself to install and mod the game again.
You don't really need Mod Organizer with Oblivion, just throw the unofficial patches in and the mods that fix potato faces and you're good.
I really didn't like the DB quest because [sp]You stand there like a slackjawed moron after they wrongfully tortured the dude trying to get to the bottom of your dead drops getting hijacked[/sp] and as much as I remember there was no option to go "Listen here you little shits"
There's no option to get angry because regardless of what your previous dialogue choices were, your character knows better than to attack a bunch of highly skilled assassins who sit near the top of one of the most active and dangerous congregations of killers in Tamriel. He either doesn't give a shit since he's only here for the murder, he respects them if you went for the zealot dialogue choices, or he simply doesn't say shit as usual since you can play like three quarters of the quest without uttering a single word.
