I do hope we reset, i hope 1.8 comes by soon aswell. I've finished most of my stuff here and i don't have much reason to make any farms with what i have done, and i'd rather have a map reset than go find a new place. either way till then i'll just run around decorating till then.

I built my home a long way away from spawn and I forgot to place down my bed because I was moving it and one of those zombie kids killed me. Is there anyway I can get taken back to my house?
I won't teleport people for things such as that. Especially with the limits being so small. It should not take you more than an hour to cross the entire map.

The border has been increased to 10k from 0,0 in the overworld, and 1250 in the nether. The map has had some features disabled until I can assess the performance as people explore new areas.

Also, how soon are we expecting 1.8? Last snapshot info on Mojang said "[I]We’re starting to wind down our development cycle, and as such we’re now focusing on bug fixing for a smooth release[/I]",
though no actual release date yet. Im just kindof stuck since I want to play mc on this server, but cant build any of my projects because of coming map reset which I want myself too. :(

I'm sort of expecting it sometime in October. I'll start tinkering around a little bit with the terrain generation in a few weeks, since I'm assuming there won't be any changes to it past that point.
Remember, I'm releasing the world data.

my frien has been complaining lately about the transportation. He is a lazy guy and all, but maybe we could add that "home" plugin just to move faster atleast between spawn and home or smth, idk

That kind of defeats the point of this being vanilla, it starts with a home tp plugin, then it gets to more ridiculous plugins that make it basically a creative server with a hunger bar.

Use the nether roads. Make your own branch to access the highway.
The server will stay vanilla. The only mods are ones that don't effect gameplay (except the world border, and even that is going to be included in vanilla 1.8), and some moderation tools that I've only had to use a miniscule number of times.
