Nope. Someone else had that problem a week ago. Removing their version data and redownloading fixed it.
what 'version data'? Their was a file in .minecraft/bin called version so I deleted that and nothing changed.

in your appdata folder there is a folder that contains the jars for each version. just delete that folder and redownload whatever you are running on. That usually resolves most little random problems.

I've found around the nether tunnels there were a bit "broken", as example the nether portal room for the spawn was messed up, broken blocks everywhere. And someone destroyed a small chunk of my resturant in the spawn (And killed all the bartenders). I guess we got some thiefts and not so major griefers.

I only wrote the book, and maybe took the horse, but I didn't steal any diamonds or anything.

same thing to me and my friend, guy murdered all our animals and collected all crops, only left watermellon sticks. outher resourses were hidden, but still, this is not just "sharing' few cows and replanting, its basicly griefing. Took us long to gather all animals and breed them, now that is wasted. I dont like this tendency, whoever did this should be punished
