I've never found a wolf, and i can't make him stand up. But yeah he's chilling at my base if the owner ever returns
Got any room left ;(?
I think there's one room left in the apartments, though it's getting kind of crowded.
A bunch of you guys ought to get together and start forging your own dwarven stronghold.
A second location I was going to build if someone took my island first was at a massive mountain just north of us, around X +235, Z -2600. It's a pretty thick mountain and has a nice, flat area on the eastern side that would be perfect for a gate and entrance.

In other Dwarven news, the Arcanum is just about finished and 90% operational (just need bookcases, 3 more brew stands and glass bottles.
The hallway to the rooms are still bare and ugly, but I'm aiming to fix that up Saturday (may not be on Friday). After that, the Arcanum will be completely finished. PROGRESS!
Every above-ground town like Wildeholt seems to have died, which sucks.
I've got Reeds and Leather for books for you Scorp.

Decided to go on a quest to figure out a name for the dwarven hold, other than "Dwarf Fortress" as everyone has been calling it. Someone, I forget who, said it should have the word "gold" in the name so I embarked on to the internet to find the Tolkien Dwarf words for "Gold Island". After some lengthy searches (apparently there isn't a dictionary for it, I had to find a 'Neo-Khudzul' dictionary pdf) and the resulting name would be
"Biriz-Guzyu"
Hard to remember and kind of a mouthful. So remembering that, in Lord of the Rings, "Moria", the dwarven stronghold there, isn't the Dwarf name for the place but an Elven, I decided to look up Sindarin for "Gold Island". The result was:
"Mallen-Tol" which sounds a helluva lot better.
My fellow dwarves (and I guess anyone else), rate Informative for Biriz-guzyu and rate optimistic for Mallen-Tol.
Spawn automatic chicken farm is now done

1 or 2 people, including myself, still live there and come on. I wish more people would come here because it's a really nice town.

I've been kinda slacking, my shit being stolen got me a bit disencouraged. Might actually hop on some time in the future.
Some fuckhead actually had the audacity to mine into the side of my house, and then leave a fucking trapdoor in it's place.

They also took some shit from my ore chest. Not fucking cool.
---
Seeing lots of homes around spawn being griefed; walls having holes in them from people mining inside, windows busted out, etc.
It's started happening in the last few days, someone from the newly whitelisted is a griefer - or just a plain cunt.

my crops got fucked without anyone replanting.
sad really :C
Once again, if you want me to look into stuff, I need the exact coordinates of where something happened, and preferably a time frame.

My vote is also so that puts the majority Dwarf votes for Mallen-Tol

I hadn't been on for a week before this had happened, and I really don't think you'd be willing to sift through that many logs, would you?
Whitelist me?

That's why I want coords. I can filter results down to individual block types being removed from a chest. It doesn't matter if it was an hour ago, or a month ago.
minecart rail system at the desert village was damaged, I tried what I could to fix it

Thank you for saving it!
I started searching for wolves last week, and in several hours only found one, which I tamed. By chance I discovered another tamed one in Felinite's cottage, but it was sitting down. Fortunately I discovered using water buckets makes them stand up long enough to breed - and now I have plenty of tame wolves, but leading them across the nether was tricky, and there may still be a few there stuck in various places. But if someone other than Felinite or I want to own one then they're going to have to find a wolf.
P.S.: Cheers to whoever dropped off a couple of music discs in my base. Jeers to whoever set off a creeper in the town centre. (Neutral response if you were the same person.)

Seems like everybody here hates me, or something.
Right, dwarf-talk for dwarf-city.
Right now I've only got three sections for the first crop floor sorted out. I want to extend it to about six sections, all of which are going to be wheat. Then I'll do a second floor underneath, for its own crop. Third layer for another, etc. until all's done.
I propose we also build a minecart system, to transfer items. Would be very helpful to shoot wheat crops to the animal farm, or stacks of cobble and coal to an auto-furnace (use hoppers to get coal and ores out of chests into auto-smelters in the great furnace), would be many good uses for one.

Sounds like a plan. I carved out a spot that can be used for the great forge and was hoping we can rig a minecart system from there to the tree farm for continued supply of charcoal.
I don't remember if Lord George said there was a mine shaft or a ravine under the mountain, but we ought to get tracks from there if it's the former.
I also dug a 9x9 shaft straight to bedrock for our mine, so we can start branch mining the hell out of everything. Unfortunately, the process cost us a diamond pick and it didn't yield a single one in return (though we got a stack of iron).

It was a ravine, and it's a little far out from the mountain if I'm remembering the geometry correctly. It's down on the south side of the island by the forest. Haven't found any abandoned mineshafts in it yet, but I'm staying optimistic. Gonna take another look later today after I gather up some food and equipment.
[editline]5th January 2015[/editline]
If I can, I'll find the northernmost point of the ravine and post the coordinates here so we know where to dig to.
I'll try to tunnel from the mineshaft in the fortress to the ravine then, that way we'll never have to go topside again after we're finished.
Dwarves of Mallen-Tol,
In delving through our mines, I have come across several ravines that are modestly connected to one another, making almost a several hundred block long snake through the earth.
Unfortunately, in what few I could explore (my torch supply ran out), they were extremely dry of resources and I only made it out with a stack of iron and a couple pieces of gold.
But! I have discovered, raided, and lit up a skeleton spawner under the mountain. The single chest in it contained only a disc and a few bars of iron, but we've got a good opportunity to have an in-built xp generator.
I have posted the location of the spawner on a sign in front of our mines. It takes some twisting and turning to get to, so you may want to wait for me to log on and guide you. It's located southwest of our home, just out into the ocean off the coast of our island.
Now, onto the construction front:
Waffles/Zakkin and I have devised a plan for the farms and the Great Forge, using autofurnaces with a minecart pipeline to the food sector. This requires a lot of resources, so if anyone can collect iron for both tracks and hoppers, it would greatly help.
We've also completed the Arcanum, with a fully functional enchanting area and brewing room. Though, in my haste, I forgot to make the enchanting room switchable between lower and upper level enchantments with sticky pistons. Feel free to correct my mistake if you want/can.
Waffles/Zakkin also needs a lot of manual labor help in clearing out room for the farms (which look spectacular thus far). We've still got a lot of digging to do before the Dwarven hold is theoretically fully habitable.

PS: That shit moment when you realize that the Sindarin name for your hold is grammatically incorrect and should be "Tol-Mallen" :v: But meh haha.
