After lurking in this thread for a while, I went back to play Melee for the first time in about 3 years. All my data is gone. WHY. Also I probably am terrible as Pichu now, since I haven't played it. Oh well. I'll get it back eventually. I have a back-up on another memory card, but it is lost behind furniture. ugh [editline]7th May 2013[/editline]
why not just use pikachu?
Because I liked Pichu more as a kid.
Like actually, what were they thinking when they added Pichu and made it so fucking bad. I just hope Mewtwo comes back because watching some old vids of him reminds me how cool he is
I wouldn't dislclose Mewtwo not having a chance to get in, it's entirely possible. Especially since the upcoming movie revolves around him and he's making a comeback in the games with a new form. If they keep Final Smashes I can see his where he can switch between forms like Samus can. Or possibly something like Zelda/Sheik can do. If anything, I hope they keep Pokemon Trainer. He is just a blast to use, especially Ivysaur. Plus Pokemon trainers are a core part of the franchise, so it kinda makes sense that PT got a slot in the roster.
Would be cool to see them mix and match combinations of the 3 starter pokemon for different trainers. Like maybe one would have Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard, another would have Charmander, Wartortle, and Venosaur, and the last would have Bulbasaur, Charmeleon, and Blastoise. I really don't see it happening, but it'd be neat. Also, after watching that video of the TAS Mewtwo playing classic mode posted a few pages ago, I miss Mewtwo. I hope they bring him back, instead of the most recent generation's mascot, which I'm sure would be Zoroark.
Ness forever
An idea I've heard tossed around a lot is different modes for characters, kind of like the forms in Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi. On the CSS, certain characters would have different forms within their own little menu next to the character's portrait. These would include characters that would most likely turn out as major clones, like Dr. Mario and Mewtwo's Awakened form. I'm not too big of a fan of the idea, but I'm wondering what you guys think.
Ness forever
A friend of mine and I were playing on Fourside once; he was Marth and I was Ness. I grabbed him and down-threw him up against the wall of the right side of the main tower thing in the center, causing him to land flat on his face, and then I started spamming down-tilt. So there Marth was, the trained, skilled swordsman that he is, hovering above the ground, convulsing, and being savagely kicked to a pulp by a little kid. After taking about 40% damage or so, he finally managed to get out of it. And then ate a baseball bat to the face, if my memory serves me.
Fourside was a good level, but trying to recover from between the buildings was difficult as shit unless you were one of the few characters that could wall-kick.
I have no idea how they could make Fourside in Melee, a fun map, and Brawl's Mother map is... ugh that map.
As much as I love New Pork City, I have to admit it is pretty bad.
I have no idea how they could make Fourside in Melee, a fun map, and Brawl's Mother map is... ugh that map.
It's better for playing as heavy characters.
I loved Pichu as a kid and eventually mastered him in Melee. I played hours on end not realizing how terrible he is and became great with him. Now I can destroy any of my family members or friends with PICHU. ...Is that bad?
Holy shit, are you me? I basically spent all my time as Pichu the moment I unlocked him, as a kid I was obsessed with them. Hell, I have a stuffed Pichu sitting beside me as I write this very sentence I remember being proud as shit at my ability to do just about everything with him, and I was actually sad about the lack of Pichu in Brawl. Good times.
Didn't Brawl already do that with Classic Wario?
That was just an assortment of alternate costumes. I'm talking about giving slight changes to the characters, like mild alterations to their moves/specials/stats. For example, if they had this system in Melee, Doc, Falco, Pichu, Ganon, Young Link, and Roy wouldn't have had character portraits. Their panels would fold out of the original character's and give you an option to select them.
i like the idea of alternate costumes, like classic wario. the recolours are kinda boring, some more customization would be cool
Like what if for Pokemon Trainer you could switch between the Male and Female protagonists, or maybe ones from different generations. I sure as hell would like to be this guy.
I really REALLy hope the next game will be faster paced. I used to love playing Yoshi in melee because of his extreme mobility, fast pace, and forward strikes made for an excellent hard to predict attack style... but in Brawl he was clumsy as fuck, he felt slower and heavier, and I couldn't rely on speed anymore. I also hope they make less complete clones. I'm alright with clones like Luigi, where it makes sense that he shares a lot of traits with mario, but he still had some unique attacks of his own... however I really don't like clones that basically share the exact same movement and attacks and the only difference is in terms of appearance and stats. Give Ganon a fucking sword already.
Yoshi is awful in Brawl. It's sad. Luigi's pretty good though.
As much as I love Ganon's moveset already, giving him his sword would be incredible.' Would make Ganon and Link solo matches much cooler.
Toon Ganon. Oh lordy the possibilities with those Dual Swords. Not happening, but it's a fun thought.
A realistically-proportioned Ganondorf in Skyward Sword's style and carrying dual swords would be nice. He'd be able to fit with the rest of the Zelda cast and gain some new elements.
WHat if... They made players able to choose between variations of a single character that play differently? You could choose between nimble and quick Young Link or far reaching and hard hitting Link for instance.
I'd be all for character variations if it didn't mean we'd basically get less characters to choose from. If they combined Link and Young Link as one character with a different skin and stats, for example, I'd like them to throw in somone else who is different. So Link + Y. Link as 2 characters turn into Link / Y. Link variation + 1 Character = 2 characters. Failing that, I'd like to see the clones get some more variations this time around.
I wouldnt mind Midna but I guess there isnt enough information on her fighting techniques to actually make her into the game.
I'd be all for character variations if it didn't mean we'd basically get less characters to choose from.
This is my problem with the idea. I'm afraid that such a system will encourage Sakurai to add more clones and less unique characters. On the other hand, they shouldn't implement a whole system for it if they just use it for two characters. I'm thinking that giving at least 1/3 of the roster a special form would be fair.
I wouldnt mind Midna but I guess there isnt enough information on her fighting techniques to actually make her into the game.
skull kid would be way cooler. [editline]8th May 2013[/editline] maybe even wolf link.
Obviously the next new fighter is Bandanna Waddle Dee. It's genius.
Naked snake, with a fulton for his up B and less effective explosives. :v:
After playing Dark Moon I can safely say Vaccum Luigi can have an entirely different moveset (and Sunshine Mario with different nozzles)
Naked snake, with a fulton for his up B and less effective explosives. :v:
..how would that work? all of snake's moves are explosives! If anything, naked snake's moves should revolve around knive based weaponry and guns, and more of his smashes should work based on CQC.
