So what are some key changes you guys are hoping to have made for certain characters? for me it's mostly making moves that aren't even that good less punishable. It's bullshit that characters like Fox, Meta Knight etc have so many really quick, really dangerous attacks. It'd be a lot more balanced if ending lag was directly proportionate (or something close) to how powerful or useful an attack/move is. Things like Ness's PSI Magnet, Mario and Luigi's fireballs, and really any other really slow, not very useful move, should either be sped up or made more potent. If Ness's PSI magnet was more like Lucas's, it'd be great, and it'd fit perfectly. I already talked about potentially merging some of Lucas's better aspects with Ness's all-round superiority, but does anyone else find it weird how slow and relatively useless Mario's fireballs are? In the actual games, they always came out quickly, travelled quickly, and travelled a long way, yet in the Smash series, they're slow, Mario is slow to use them, and they only bounce a couple of times before they disappear. Contrast to something like Falco's blaster, that's relatively quick, has range that's as long as most stages, and is almost unpunishable in any non-close range circumstances. It's things like that that make the game fundamentally unbalanced. I understand it's important to make characters play differently to each other, but that doesn't mean they can't be equally as effective in their own area as other characters.

To answer your question, one change I would really like is for all characters to have some sort of wall jump. I don't care if the heavy characters have one that's terrible/not as good as the lighter characters. I just want a little bit more consistency, as heavy characters already have a hard enough time keeping up with the light characters before they gave them the ability to recover from seemingly impossible situations by bouncing off the walls. Speaking of wall jumps, I wonder if they're gonna give Mega Man the ability to wall jump. I'd like to imagine it would look like X's wall climbing if they did.
Question: Can you play a custom stage that you made with someone over wifi? I'm not really sure how it works. [editline]8th August 2013[/editline] By the way, if anyone wants to play in like half an hour, I'm down. My friend code is 1891-0839-5191.
From the W101 blog:
This episode will be hosted by a special guest you all know and love, who will show you the latest trailer and tell you how to play the game… DIRECTLY! Make sure to watch it all the way through, because there might just be an exciting new announcement at the end!
Looks like we might get some double dipping in the Smash news front this week.

No way for them to know the data of the custom stage.
Seems to be a bit of hate for spirit tracks - If you play through it, (& Phantom Hourglass), I think you'd find it surprisingly fun.
Nope. No way for them to know the data of the custom stage.
Wasn't there a way to do it with Homebrew?
I made a series of custom stages to play with my friends. In all, there are 6 new stages--for Path 1A, a random stage is picked to teleport to. The intro stage branches into the Path 1 stage and Path 2 stage. Path 1 branches into stage Path 1A and stage Path 1B, the same with Path 2. So, no matter who wins, there are four different endings. By the way, the winner of the fight always makes the decision of what to do. I'll post screenshots and the music for each stage later. Choose Your Path Intro: You wake up lying down in pitch black darkness. As you begin to sit up, you immediately hit your head on something that feels and sounds like metal. This is clearly not your bed. You feel around and find that you are totally encased in some sort of tight, metal pod. You frantically push out at the top of the pod in an attempt to escape. You push with all your strength, trying to get the thing open--hoping that opening is one of this object’s functions. But it’s no use. Your heartbeat quickens. Your breaths become shorter. You close your eyes for a moment. Will you be stuck in here forever? Will you simply dehydrate to death in here, without ever finding out why you’re in here anyway? Angrily, you punch and kick inside of the metallic sarcophagus. Nothing. Burning with fear and frustration, you let out a scream. You let out a scream as if that scream would be the very thing that saves your life. “Voice Recognition Completed”, you hear a soft, female robotic voice say. The overhead door opens, and you are blinded by light. After a moment, your eyes adjust, and you seem to be looking up at a ceiling. You sit up. New information meets your eyes. Across from you is an empty pod, identical to yours. Standing around you are your three closest friends. They seem to be surprised when they see you--happy, in a way. But by the look on their faces there is clearly something wrong. As you’re about to say something, you are deafened by a deep, explosive voice that sounds throughout the room. “Listen closely--I’m going to make this short because I don’t much enjoy talking. You don’t need to know where you are or why you’re here. Fight or you will all be stripped of your souls by my hand. The last person alive will secure their soul and the souls of two other beings. Begin...” There is silence as everyone in the room makes the same decision. After the fight, the thundering voice sounds again. “Well done! That was an incredible fight. Probably the best I’ve seen in all thousand of my vaults. Yes, it was a good choice not stopping at nine-hundred-ninety-nine. Vault 1000 truly harbored the smackdown I’ve been looking for...Oh, see? You’ve gotten me so excited I’m rambling. Anyway, you may now choose two of your friends’ souls to save. Wait, did I say soul? No, I meant life. Might as well go on and tell you now, since you seem not to care much about killing your friends. Hell, it looks like you love hurting people just as much as I do. I already have your soul and all your little friends’ souls. You aren’t getting them back. What I can give you is the chance to keep your life, even though when you die you’ll be trapped forever in an icy cage of pain and suffering...But the only way to hold on to your life is to be the last man standing. Listen carefully. You will now fight your remaining two opponents. The winner will choose one out of three to fight against. The winner of that fight will keep their life and I will let them (not their soul) go free. So prepare--you have one minute to choose your opponents. Thirty seconds after you have chosen, I will revive them. Make sure you give me a good fight!” After as much thought as you can fit into a minute, you tell the man your choice and take a look around the room. There are two paths out of this room: a staircase that leads upwards and a ladder that drops straight down into a pit. Path 1: You walk up the stairs to find a room with a large cylindrical machine capable of holding about two people. Inside, there is a control panel with just one button. The button reads “TELEPORT”. Furthermore, beyond what seems to be a teleporter, there is a ladder. Looking down the ladder, it leads to what seems to be a soul reservoir--four icy, glowing cubes. But the reservoir room is locked. Looking upward, the ladder seems to go on for a mile. There seem to be two choices: take your chances with the teleporter or climb up the ladder to see what you can find. But before you can do anything, your thirty seconds are up and your opponents appear. Path 1A: After winning the fight, you tell the man your choice of opponent and immediately activate the teleporter. You arrive in a strange place. In a few moments, you are joined by your opponent. Apparently escaping the vault did not mean escaping the fight. Afterwards, the man congratulates you, then transports you back to your home. You are without a soul and without your friends. You killed their friends. Your eventual death will be met with an eternity of suffering. How do you feel? Your next course of action is up to you. Path 1B: You climb up the ladder as quickly as you can. You see a tall tower above you, and atop it is a black, metal chest. All around you are floating blocks. You step on one. It begins to shudder, and you quickly jump off before it falls to oblivion. In front of you, your opponent appears. Both of you fight as you jump upon the floating blocks, racing to the top of the tower. Once the fight is over, the winner opens the chest to find a gun and glowing blue key. You hear the voice again. “Stop, I order you to put down that key this instant!” he shouts. “I promise you, whatever you think you’re doing, it won’t be good for anyone.” You make your way back down to the ladder and climb. Once you’re back in the room, you climb down to the reservoir and unlock the door. You touch one of the icy blocks with your hand. The cube glows brighter and brighter and creates the sound of a hurricane before it vanishes. You touch another. And another. But you feel nothing. You realize that these must be the souls of your friends. Though they are dead, they can at least rest in peace now. One icy block remains. You touch it with your palm and feel your soul flow back into you. “Do you think you’ve won?” says the voice. “You’re still trapped in here forever! Hahahahaha!” You pull the gun out of your pocket and escape. Path 2: You climb down the ladder to find a large room full of machinery. It appears to be some sort of power reactor. Beyond the reactor is a hallway. On the wall, you see a floating platform that seems to beckon you to a large, open window. Suddenly, your enemies appear. Path 2A: After the fight, you walk down the hallway to see a massive room, and what seems to be an armory at the center. Your last opponent appears. After you finish them, you take a floating platform to a ladder that you promptly climb. You find yourself on the roof of the armory. You walk to the opposite side of the roof and look down. On the wall of the armory, you see a secret hatch that someone left open. You crawl inside, and through a security display you see three large piles of explosives. But as you make your way through the armory, your path is blocked by a wall of spikes and you’re forced to go back. Outside of the armory, you begin to think. You think for a while. And as you pace the room, you see something. It’s a large hole in the wall of the armory. How could you have missed it! You climb inside, take the explosives and make your way back to the reactor room. You strap the explosives to the reactor core and activate them, giving yourself fifteen minutes to retrieve your friends’ corpses, climb back up the ladder into the main room and secure everyone into their own metal pod. As the vault explodes, you are safe, and you feel a flowing sensation throughout your body as something seems to return to you. You don’t hear or see anything, but you can feel yourself being thrown around at what feels like the speed of light. Eventually, the pod comes to a stop and you gently say “Open” to the pod’s AI. “Voice Recognition Completed” it says. The doors open and you find yourself in a beautiful mountain range. It’s morning. You see one of the other pods in a nearby tree. Another is right next to you, laying against a boulder. You take a few minutes to search for your other friend. You take an hour. Soon you begin to think that they’re simply lost. But as you walk to a nearby river to get a drink of water, you see the pod drifting along and you grab it with both hands, and pull it onto dry ground. You make a small shelter near the river. It takes you several hours to heave the other two pods back to your shelter, but you manage it. You destroyed whatever was keeping your souls trapped, so you know that your friends have their souls again, and for now can at least rest in peace. But you wonder how that evil man revived them to fight. “Revive” you say to the three pods. “Voice Recognition Completed” Immediately you hear the sound of working machinery. After about 30 seconds, the sounds stop. “Open”, you say to each AI. And as every door opens, you see all of your friends wake up peacefully to see you. They’re all smiling and laughing. You have no idea what happened--but one thing is for sure. You and your friends are alive. And life is good. Path 2B: You manage to climb through the window, and find yourself in a room full of mushrooms. You look up and see a beautiful vista of blue skies and mountains. Suddenly, your final opponent appears. After defeating them, you have no idea what to do. You’re surrounded by mushrooms. The walls are too high to climb and it seems that the window has been blocked. You remain trapped for days. Eventually, you succumb to thirst and hunger and begin to eat one of the mushrooms for food and moisture. A rush of kaleidoscopic colors and otherworldly hallucinations immediately meet your eyes, ears, and tastebuds. With only one food and water source, you are forced to eat magic mushrooms for the rest of your life. Every day you grow more and more insane and your hallucinations become increasingly terrifying. You are more and more miserable with each trip. After about three weeks, the day comes when you run out of mushrooms. Trapped without food or water, you die alone a sad, painful, screaming death.
are you sure you're in the right thread
are you sure you're in the right thread
Yeah. It'll make more sense with screenshots, but I can't get to that right now as it's 2:00 AM and I've spent hours planning, building stages and writing.
Wasn't there a way to do it with Homebrew?
AFAIK, that only works if you and your friend want to play a hacked in stage, and you both have it. But vanilla custom stage? No dice.

Looks like Lucario is also getting a new form in X and Y: I thought Lucario was going away in the next smash, but I am not sure now.
Maybe we'll have both.
Maybe we'll have both.
Probably, they even did official art of the two fighting in their new forms for X and Y:
Perhaps their mega evolutions will be their final smashes. That'd make sense. Since "mega evolutions" can only happen during battle, anyway.
Aren't there gonna be Smash Bros announcements during today's Direct?
