So Gamecom is this week, and Nintendo has a presence. I hope we get a character announcement this week.
and a good one too
I was actually wondering when the next big, character reveal-worthy event would be. Could this be it?

damnit Luigi
Ah, Luigi has learned well from PhaeroMan.
The more I think about it the more I can't imagine how Mega Man could possibly be not be the most broken character in the game. When you look at his range with most attacks and all of his projectiles I can't imagine any other character being able to stand a chance against him. Most character's projectile attacks are either fairly weak or need to be charged up, but Metal Blade looks fucking nuts AND can be shot in eight directions.
The "Challenger Approaching" Button is gone again, which means another challenger can come in the next few weeks

Because he basically can't do shit at close range. As jigglypuff absolutely fucking has to stay in the air to be effective, Megaman will need to stay a certain distance away.

Well, in their own game, the Metal Blades were quite broken. But with so many other characters with anti-projectile specials (Mario's Cape, Ness PSI Magnet, Villager Pocket and Fox's Reflector.) I doubt he becomes utterly broken.
I just hope Sakurai learned with the whole Meta-Knight thing and balance the game correctly. Fingers crossed!

wait, what? are metal blades catchable or something?
wait, what? are metal blades catchable or something?
This is nothing new. If I recall correctly most throwable items were catchable in previous installments.

Which is why Peach isn't god tier in SSBM.
So, I might be a little late, but who else thinks they'll replace Lucario with another pokemon that's more recent, like Zoroark?
Though I'd love to see either one kept alongside Mewtwo, with Lucario/Zoroark/whatever focusing on speed and brute power, and Mewtwo requiring a lot more proper positioning and technique with a focus on powerful throws and juggling.

Couldn't you, in fact, catch Samus's Missiles in Melee?
wait if they add reggie to the game, would he have to be a reskin of the wii fit trainer?

Absolutely guaranteed. They've made no secret that they have extensive communication with Game Freak to find out how to best advertise current pokemon products.

If I remember correctly, he ONLY has ranged moves. No punches, just Mega Buster. The closest thing to a melee attack is the slide.
He could very easily be balanced by making him light and easy to smack around and/or making his attacks do not a whole lot of damage.
The lack of melee moves is already enough to put him on a very low tier, especially if wavedashing is reintroduced in SSB4.

But Lucario is getting a mega form in the upcoming game. If anything Lucario is more relevant than Zoroark.
Also Zoroark is both lame and completely irrelevant in the face of an oncoming generation of brand new Pokémon.
Lucario is too but he's got some legitimate popularity behind him. Zoroark to me seemed like an attempt to recreate that popularity that failed

Lucario isn't irrelevant since he has a "mega" form.

Ah, but you're thinking games. The reason Lucario was in Brawl to begin with because he was in a movie. Ditto Mewtwo in melee. Now, is there gonna be a movie about angry mode Lucario?
So if they're gonna add a character based on extreme modes, it'll be Mewtwo since he'll be the focus of the movie about it.

since when was the metal blade a throwable item? is it not one of megaman's attacks?
[editline]19th August 2013[/editline]
i know some characters have throwable items as their attacks but i didn't think a sawblade projectile would be one of them

Some Specials can be grabbed and thrown back, like Peach's Turnips.

Sakurai demonstrated that if you angle it diagonally down, it sticks in the floor and you can then pick it up and throw it like a regular item.
I don't know why, but a lot of the time I end up not using specials as often as I probably should, other than Up+B [sp]which I use every 2 seconds[/sp].
I don't think it can be caught when you fire it normally, it's gotta hit the ground and be picked up again
The lack of melee moves is already enough to put him on a very low tier, especially if wavedashing is reintroduced in SSB4.
First off, wavedashing? I kinda doubt it. I don't remember when or where precisely, but Nintendo has publically stated that wavedashing was a glitch and wouldn't be legitimized. I'd love to see something similar - like a "superdodge" - in which the player presses a direction and the block button at exactly the same time and quickly zips a couple yards in that direction, taking less time than a roll and allowing you to input a command immediately afterward (whereas in a roll you have to wait for that animation to finish). With a cooldown of course, and the lighter your character, the more they're able to do it.
Second... The comment about strictly projectile-based characters falls a bit flat, considering the fact that there are many, MANY Melee Peach players out there who can keep an opponent airborne for a minute or more with just turnips. It just means you need to familiarize yourself with arcs and flight time and knockback and areal setups - Skills a lot of Game & Watch players surely know well, for starters.
On a slightly unrelated note, I'd love to see a few robot masters as assist trophies (Cutman, Quickman, Airman, Heatman, etc), attacking in their trademark pattern once released.
I don't think it can be caught when you fire it normally, it's gotta hit the ground and be picked up again
Considering the projectile is unaffected by gravity, it'd need to be catchable during flight or it'd be impossible to grab at any point unless the Megaman player shot it into the ground.
Remember that the window for catching a projectile that's thrown at you is incredibly tight, so a failed catch is damage against you.
Also don't forget that Megaman himself can just follow up with a shot from the Mega Buster, it's not like anyone will want to try to grab a projectile when a second one is going to hit you right afterward, it'd force the non-Megaman player to shield, which allows Megaman to pressure it in hopes of breaking it, forcing a dodge/roll which makes it predictable to follow-up, or going for a grab.
Wavedashing was not a glitch, but an exploit. It was the physics engine working exactly like it should; making you slide in the ground if you landed with momentum, and directional air dodging made said momentum contollable AND without stun.
