They aren't focusing that much on the roster this time.
Which is silly in my opinion, because to me it's foolish to assume that most people don't buy the game mostly for the new roster
Sega should get another person in the new Smash Bros that isn't sonic related. And I know just the guy... SPARKSTER from Rocket Knight Adventures!
They aren't focusing that much on the roster this time.
I've seen this referenced a lot around here. Sakurai said something to this effect, but it's hard to ever take anything he says at face value. There are other factors too, like Namco-Bandai getting involved after he made this quote. Really, there's no way to know about the size of the roster until E3 or whenever they give us more details.
Forget the roster for now, what about stages? Zombie infested London?
Stages based on Mario Galaxy, Skyward Sword, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Epic Yarn and that goddamn Wuhu Island thing are a given
They aren't focusing that much on the roster this time.
Did they say that!? I doubt it. Didn't they say they were looking deep into classic Nintendo games for character ideas?
Fuck everything else. Add some shit from Eternal Darkness, because that was technically a Nintendo thing. :v:

However, there are still plenty of modern choices available, as well. Sakurai won't be running out of potential characters any time soon.
Stages based on Mario Galaxy, Skyward Sword, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Epic Yarn and that goddamn Wuhu Island thing are a given
There will probably be a stage based on the new 3D Mario rather than Galaxy, since that will surely be out by the time Smash Bros. 4 is.

There's no way they'd have the gravity mechanic (albeit in 2D) just for that level, so it'd just be a fancy background, maybe with some launch stars.

There were a number of sections in both of the Galaxy games that had Mario or Luigi walking upside-down and then toggling to right-side up.
It'd be like Palkia Spear Pillar all over again, and that scares me.
Palkia inverts the screen vertically. I mean invert the gravity outright, having 2 floating platforms with their own gravitational field that you can access by double-jumping off some soft platforms. It'd be hard to do vertical KOs but it can be made into a workable stage. I'm proposing a gravity thing that's primarily based on where in the stage you're located, Palkia did things randomly and that's how it screwed with people.

Someone suggested a Harmoknight stage that looked pretty nice.
Someone suggested a Harmoknight stage that looked pretty nice.
As much as I dislike scrolling stages, that feels like the kind of game where one would be appropriate.
? I dunno I think it has the potential to also be done well officially if they tried. I mean size isn't much of a issue, just look at Olimar and Pikachu.
Too small, Ridley's canon size is big enough to pick up Samus like a rag doll. I don't know about you guys, but I'm anticipating Bayonetta coming as a guest character in the next game. It just makes too much sense.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm anticipating Bayonetta coming as a guest character in the next game. It just makes too much sense.
Zero Suit Samus x Bayonetta pics flood Miiverse.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm anticipating Bayonetta coming as a guest character in the next game. It just makes too much sense.
More women in the game. Good. There were still only 3 (4 if you count nana) in Brawl, which is less than a tenth of the roster.
More women in the game. Good. There were still only 3 (4 if you count nana) in Brawl, which is less than a tenth of the roster.
To be fair, the other nine tenths of the roster aren't all male.
To be fair, the other nine tenths of the roster aren't all male.
But they are.
But they are.
It's more like eight tenths. There's also the robutt and all the pokeymens after all.
More women in the game. Good. There were still only 3 (4 if you count nana) in Brawl, which is less than a tenth of the roster.
Why would you not count Nana? Unless you're talking about seperate characters (Which you aren't, only gender.) then she most certainly counts.
I think Jiggz is a girl, too.
Also, I have nothing against Bayonetta, but I would really not want her in the next Smash Bros. She doesn't fit at all, something I still think about Snake. They just don't feel right in a fighting game that's so cartoony and outlandish like this one.

Its loads of games together, theres no specific genre or style. And Bayonetta would work.

Actually, what started out as a witty comment could actually kind of work.

Or maybe just have an Eternal Darkness stage, like Pious' lair or the cathedral.
