I say give the 3D Zelda color palettes and costumes to adult Link (OoT, the Zora/magic armor from TP, etc)
and give the 2D Pallettes and costumes to Toon Link (ALttP, the original LoZ, etc)
Yeah!
Original LoZ Link actually is an alt costume in Brawl

Haha now I remember thinking how cool it was to play as Dark Link
Other M is tearing us apart.
I'm just gonna talk about Sonic. I think Chemical Plant Zone would be a cool stage for Sonic. Though we are probably going to get Planet Wisp or a Generations style Green Hill Zone. But seriously look at this concept art.

This concept art would transition perfectly into a Smash Bros stage.
Fuck this level in Sonic 2. I don't want to see it ever again.

Eargasms ahoy.
Ugh. I don't have a WiiU and I really don't want one, I do have a 3ds and am planning to get that version...
...But looking at how detailed the WiiU version looks.....Nintendo might actually get a sale off me.
Hopefully by the time this game is out the WiiU has a price drop.
I do want a Wii U, as it turns out, I want that Wind Waker edition Wii U :v:

Also, if Chemical Plant Zone is added as a stage, it would be awesome if they put the Sonic Generations Modern version music in as an alternative track.

Didn't they confirm that Sonic and Snake weren't going to return because they wanted to cycle guest characters with every game?
Did they? I don't remember them every saying that
Didn't they confirm that Sonic and Snake weren't going to return because they wanted to cycle guest characters with every game?
I have never heard of that. Sonic not returning would surprise me quite a bit what with Nintendo and Sega having a partnership with Sonic Lost World and more to come.
I remember Sakurai saying during the Developer Direct that he wouldn't "just let any character participate from other companies," in reference to Mega Man and his popularity. That was probably just him noting that he wouldn't toss third parties in at random.
He also said that Namco-Bandai characters wouldn't get any special treatment because they were helping to develop the game. A lot of people had been asking him about Pac-Man, but he simply ignored the question and responded with this.
And he also said he wasn't going to overload the roster with too many third parties, as that would take away from the Nintendo All-Star aspect.
But no, I don't believe he said anything about third party characters only being allowed to appear once in the series.
You know what I'd love to see? An alternate way to unlock new characters for those who don't want to pour dozens of hours into local play or blitz the campaign.
Do it the way Metroid Prime Hunters did it; If you beat an unlockable character enough times in online multiplayer (regardless of who uses it), you'll unlock that character for use in all modes.
[editline]t[/editline]
So for instance, I beat someone who's using Megaman, move to a new lobby, and beat two other people who are using Megaman. Boom, I unlock Megaman.

Then one person can just unlock a character and give all their newbie friends said character by getting beat.
So? People have been throwing matches with friends to unlock characters in Smash for years. This just makes it less tedious for people who want the complete roster faster so they can be competitive online.
This also means that people who don't have local gaming friends and don't care for the campaign or botmatches can still unlock all the characters.
Guys, someone just pointed out to me
SMB was released on September 13th, right?
When was Peach revealed?
SAKURAI DIDN'T REVEAL HER AT RANDOM AT ALL. SHE WAS PLANNED.

Japan Time pointed that out last week.
I kinda wonder how the customization thing will work out. Like, is it going to be how the stickers worked in SSE, where you can boost your stats and/or start off with items? Or, are they going to be purely cosmetic items with some sort of create-a-character kinda thing (like how Soul Caliber does it). I figure that it's probably going to be more of the cosmetic side, but what are your guys' thoughts?
I hope it's more on the cosmetic side. Getting upgrades just for the Story Mode wasn't fun, for the most part they were useless. I mean really, who regularly spends time playing the SSE after they beat it? Nobody.
I'm trying to think of balanced and fun ways to implement stickers other than SSE boosts and putting them on trophies...maybe putting them on your character (though I would never do that as I'd probably just look dumb)? Maybe stickers could influence item drops in item-enabled battles (so a Poppy Bros sticker might make Kirby items and bombs drop, things like that), or stickers might occasionally create game-specific stage hazards.
Maybe there could be a game type like Special Brawl where there would be the option to allow stage modifications and player benefits from players' stickers. I doubt most of these things would happen. However, I'm guessing stickers will be a part of the next game.
In terms of customization in general? I'm thinking a lot of new stuff with skins. More skins in general, and maybe unlockable skins (from completing some sort of achievement or finding it by drop).
Certain skins could affect your stats, while of course balancing them out. But, say if you were Wario, wearing the biker outfit instead of the traditional one may lower your speed and raise your attack damage. Trading skins may also be a thing.
I highly doubt they would put in the work to do this, but maybe skins would be a way to change to an alternate Final Smash. So, say instead of Olimar's "End of Day" Final Smash, wearing another skin would give him a "Pikmin Horde" Final Smash, calling over an army of Pikmin to pick up enemies and carry them to the KO zone (with the potential ability for players to break away, of course). And, I said this before, but maybe there could be new Pokemon that can be found very rarely by drop and used by the Pokemon Trainer.
What I care about most of all in terms of creative tools is a retained Stage Builder (which I'm nearly positive will be kept), but one that's more fleshed out. To be honest it felt a little half-assed to me (the amount of building materials at hand, the annoying interface, the size restriction, the building limit, etc.). I also hope there'll be more music available for custom stages.
Pic of the day. The two heroes swing it out with a double Spin Attack! Wouldn't wanna be to the one to get hit.
Those purple particle effects could use some slight refining. I see jaggies.

You probably won't when it is moving, I imagine they will only flash for a second.
I'm really hoping they look better in motion, or from far away. You know, like how the game actually plays?
Just great

uh is the AI trying to play as Pit
I'm getting that impression
Looks like we got a Nintendo Direct this week on October 1st.

Waluigi replaces Pit, so unless you figured out how to and put the time and effort into completely rewriting the AI for Pit to fit Waluigi, as well as adjust everyone else to fight Waluigi like he wasn't Pit, you're stuck like that.

In that case it'd be better if Waluigi replaced someone who had a moveset that's very similar to his so that the AI wouldn't be that too far off.
Pretty much any melee-reliant character would do better than Pit.
He's actually using Ike's AI. Look at the comments.
Although I can't explain why Waluigi doesn't uses his B+Up to get back on stage. :v:

nothing for smash is going to be revealed because it's stuff for 3DS and Wii U released this year
nothing for smash is going to be revealed because it's stuff for 3DS and Wii U released this year
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the August Nintendo Direct was advertised as "for Wii U and 3DS games coming this year," and we still got Luigi.
Edit: Found an old article about the August Direct on Gamnesia:
It doesn't sound like tomorrow's Direct will be anything groundbreaking, as the announcement text said Nintendo only plans to share details on games launching this year, but at the very least we can all look forward to hearing Iwata's latest pun on delivering information "Directly."
Bottom line is Nintendo is just a bunch of liars. We won't know until tomorrow.
