I know Nintendo probably wouldn't ever do this, but I still think a series like Smash needs a limited semi-open beta before release, to make sure overlooked bugs or balance issues get looked at and fixed before launch. If Brawl was any indication, I don't think their in-house testers are quite up to the snuff we need.

Which is weird because historically the series has been more successful in English speaking regions. Japan's still mostly on about Street Fighter and Tekken. The fact that the west is so much more into Smash is the reason why Japan-only games have had a bit of trouble getting representatives in. Lucas was going to be in Melee, but nobody over here would've had any idea who he was, so they left him out. Marth and Roy were also going to be Japan-only, but a massive plea from the west encouraged them to be included internationally. We've got a LOT bigger of an influence on the series than a lot of people think.

I liked the original NES stages in brawl, like mario bros and donkey kong. We should have a stage like that in the new smash game.. like excitebike or urban champion stage

I said this in the Wii U thread, but I reckon the direct will reveal Pokemon Trainer. it is the 15th anniversary of Red and Blue, after all.

Going from Mushroomy Kingdom to the Mushroom Kingdom from NSMB will certainly be an awkward transition.

I want to see a Mario 3D Land/World stage complete with the catchy music. [video=youtube;oIm-diI36ew]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIm-diI36ew[/video] Kinda give it a Yoshi's Island (Melee) feel, with the stage being made entirely out of things you'd expect to see in actual gameplay, from item blocks to warp pipes to enemies wandering through.

Well I do believe that you are probably in luck, as I thought that they confirmed a Mario 3D Land stage for the 3DS version at least. It'd be a shame to not add in what was probably the best track in the game.

They'll probably do a more NSMBU/3D World inspired stage, but it's all the same style these days really

Are we going back to the Melee style of having one song per stage with hidden songs, or back to Brawl's songapalooza? That's something I'd like to know.

As long as they leave the Brawl remix of Gourmet Race in, I don't care either way.

Brawl's Songapalooza is the way to go, especially with the Wii U's higher data allowance. Maybe they could even let us connect an external hard drive and play music straight from it.

Would be nice to be able to customize what songs play on what level, songs specific to that franchsie of course. I hope the stage creator is a lot more detailed this time around.

Building stages by hand on the gamepad would be great.
