IMO I don't think he has as much significance now as he did first in brawl. I think of Brawl as his minutes in the spotlight, but after having payed those respects and no titles for the WiiU being relevant, and his character design in general clashing horribly with the new direction... If absolutely any characters from Brawl are being cut, all my bets are placed on him.
Except it really doesn't clash horribly with the new direction at all, certainly not any more than Zero Suit Samus does, being a realistic looking human does not mean you have no place in Super Smash Bros, that's just a stupid way of thinking
He looks horrible, no matter how I try to look at it he's an overly realistic gray character and it would be hard to fit him alongside a bunch of colorful cartoony and fantasy inspired characters (because Link and Samus are still colorful and fantasy inspired). On top of that, he's got no big titles on the WiiU and his latest big title is being developed only for the consoles rivaling Nintendo. So no, unless absolutely no characters are being cut from Brawl, his chances are significantly worse than all the other characters.
It's detailed in a less realistic way then, compare Mario's pants in Brawl to Mario's pants in the new Smash.
So because of the less realistic detailing, alongside wearing very dull colors, having significantly more realistic proportions and weapons than the majority of all the other characters, and most importantly being a third party character with the most recent title not being developed for WiiU... I see him as the least likely candidate of all Brawl veterans to make a return. Not impossible, but least likely.
Snake was in Brawl when there either was MGS4 in development or was already released (I have no idea which, but it really doesn't matter). The only MGS game on a nintendo platform was the remake, which was on the gamecube, so I guess you could say this time he's even more relevant because of his 3DS game, but really I don't think Snake's relevance to Nintendo was ever an issue. In fact, his irrelevance was what made him a shocking and hilarious addition. I doubt he'll return, I'm pretty sure he was just a one-time appearance (Kind of like how Twin Snakes was a gift from Kojima, you could say Snake in brawl was a gift from Sakurai).

Samus, Fox, Captain Falcon, Ness, Jigglypuff and Pikachu don't have games on the Wii U let's cut them
Samus, Fox, Captain Falcon, Ness, Jigglypuff and Pikachu don't have games on the Wii U let's cut them
None of them are third party characters, all of them are iconic to Nintendo
None of them are third party characters, all of them are iconic to Nintendo
I debunked one point which the others have nothing to do with
I debunked one point which the others have nothing to do with
The fact that he's a third party character and they're not, is a pretty damn significant point. They are and have always been Nintendo exclusive characters, Snake is not.
By this fact alone, yes, Nintendo is likely to be more lenient on the requirements for them to be included in the game.
Not to sound like a jerk, but why don't you guys want Snake back?
He was a very fun and unique character, and it would really suck to see him missing.
They released MGS3 on 3DS
And it's more bright and colourful but that doesn't mean it's less detailed, you only need to look at Link, Donkey Kong or Fox to see that
Well then, twin snakes on GameCube was for solid snake.
So just switch him out for naked snake. Problem solved.
I won't particularly mind if he gets in the game, but there are plenty of characters I feel are more deserving.
Besides, I'm talking more about what I think might happen, not just what I personally want to happen. I don't hate Snake, I just don't give a rats ass either.
I won't say this with full certainty, but I could see Snake being left out simply because he's significantly more realistically designed than all the other characters and the new more bright and colorful art direction. Not the only reason, but one of the reasons.
Snakes not going to be in it because of PSA:BR.
That Smash clone that no one cares about. I would seriously doubt that sony would let him be in another smash if they plan on making another one of those.

They aren't making another one.
Does anyone still play Super Smash Bros Brawl?
Does anyone still play Super Smash Bros Brawl?
When I have friends over I play it. But its kinds boring playing it solo and there's a million other games competing for my free time lol
They aren't making another one.
Not to mention he wasn't even in the first one because he was already in smash.
Does anyone still play Super Smash Bros Brawl?
I play All-star mode every once and a while, I'm trying to +skill for Smash 4.
Does anyone still play Super Smash Bros Brawl?
I would, but my Wii can't read discs. Hoping to get a Wii U around the holidays, though.
why haven't we seen any alternate colours for characters yet
or Final Smashes
wait, what if they removed Final Smashes
By this logic they would've removed Kirby and all the Pokemon from Brawl
I saw a tumblr post where some people legitimately worried that Zelda was removed.
... :v:

They've shown Samus firing a gigantic laser beam and Wii Fit Trainer using her 'Wii Fit' final smash to terrorize the field. They're still here.

Just hope they tweak (and change the cloned Final Smashes) into interesting ones.
Like Falco could get a Arwing instead of the tank and it would work similar to the Dragoon, but you get (maybe) 3 shots.
In this thread, some mentioned an interesting idea of the Ballad of Gales for Toon Link's, where twisters appear everywhere at random (bit like Hyrule Castle from the SBB64).
There is so much potential in those!

That was me. :v:
I think Falco's should be kinda like Snake's. He hops into an arwing and flies into the foreground, and starts bombarding the stage with smart bombs and plasma shots, before turning the thrusters to high gear, taking aim and kamikazeing into the stage at full speed, making one last big explosion when it hits just as Falco jumps out.

Perhaps instead of doing the Dragoon, maybe make it so that it's like Snake's final smash (assuming he doesn't get back in, which I don't have any opinion on whatsoversodon'tincludemeintheargument) where you jump into an Arwing, and you overlook the stage in said Arwing. From there, you can fire 3 smart bombs onto the battlefield, as well as fire lasers with medium damage and no knockback.

Holy mother of fuck you stole my idea

I bet you were just looking over my keyboard and copied what I wrote, didn't you?????

Or those!
So a lot of stuff is going down with Pokemon X and Y at the moment. Charizard now has two mega forms. This brings the totals to 2 for Mewtwo, 2 for Charizard, and 1 for Lucario. I have no idea how they could possibly incorporate these forms into the characters. If Brawl Pokemon Trainer returns, his Final Smash might just be Charizard Mega Evolving and kicking butt. But if that happens, would the form he evolves into be decided at random? The same goes for Mewtwo.
It's suddenly become very tough to guess the Pokemon reps any more. The frontrunners were Mewtwo, Lucario, and a Pokemon Trainer with pretty much any generation of starters, but now it's really hard to argue who has a leg up over who. We might have to wait until October 12th and hope for another character confirmation to get some answers.
Not only that, but with the recent leaks, I'm starting to wonder if a Generation VI trainer isn't out of the question. [sp]If I had to guess, he might end up with a team of Fennekin/Frogadier/whatever Chespin's third evo is going to be called, if that pic is even real.[/sp]
Also, something I notice in the Sonic Reveal video, is that it seems that we'll get an Adventure Mode similar to Melee's, with character specific stages.
Near the end, you can see a Sonic Lost World inspired stage but it looks rather big for a VS stage (unless it's another Hyrule Temple kind of stage).
Also, the camera at the beginning following Mario looks like a new feature for Replays. Was it possible to follow a character in the Brawl Replay system? I never used it once, but I don't think such thing was possible.
Unless it's just for the video...

The Lost World thing is probably a stage, but we've known about an alleged return to Adventure Mode through the 'daily lives of the Smash cast'. Rumors are rumors of course, but I remember something about how the leak of Brawl's cutscenes before release discouraged the devs and Sakurai a bit from wanting to go full tilt again in the story.
I'd like to see each character get a unique mini-campaign consisting of five or so stages (four levels and then another character as a boss) that emphasizes their unique strengths and weaknesses, while telling a story you'd expect for that character.
So for instance, Wario's trying to find a lost fortune, Pit is rushing to find and defeat Dark Pit, the Zelda cast are on journeys to recover their respective parts of the triforce, Megaman's trying to stop Dr. Wily, Bowser's leading an assault on mushroom castle, etc, etc. I think it's the perfect formula for getting used to a character and learning their potential.

That would be pretty awesome. But their stories should all intersect at the end, with everyone uniting to fight some common enemy.
