To all the people who are thinking "why Rosalina, when you have lots of other princesses like..uhh...Daisy?", i think it might be because Daisy originally came from Mario Land, her sprite was pretty much non-nondescript and was unused until the Mario Spinoff games, but she became so seeded within the spinoff series itself that the games were overlooked by the main series and possibly the RPG series. Only things we know about her is that there might be some sort of counterpart to Luigi like how Peach is to Mario (alluded) and that she's a bit of a tomboy, but that's about it. but Rosalina was pretty much of a one-trick pony, but a [I]good one trick pony[/I], bit surprising they can suddenly introduce an endearing character with that much personality in one game. (aware that she barely appears in Galaxy 2). She appeared in Mario Kart Wii, but that was presumably due to how recent she was, i mean Dry Bowser got in and even more surprisingly, Funky Kong got in, so she looked less baity, she looked even less baity when Queen Honey Bee became a character with Laiktu and Wigger as characters in Mario Kart 7. Maybe I'm thinking over the edge, but what if the ending of Mario Galaxy implied that not only she recreated the universe, but she also devised a way for Space to be feasibly an reoccurring theme for the future in the main series without the issue of a Comet that appears once every 100 years? Probably explains [sp]Mario 3D World at least[/sp], but by then, she'd probably have been acknowledged by Nintendo at this point, lets hope that they don't have some sort of ulterior motive with it, like making the female:male ratio balanced. they need to kill off Wolf though....they really haven't touched Star Fox (barring remakes) since Command, though Ness needs to return since they need to show the MOTHER/Earthbound fans the love. Of the characters so far, 6 are non-human/anthropomorphic (at least 5/6 are male; Fox, Bowser, Sonic. DK, Pikachu and Kirby gets a free pass since they're animals/Pokemon/aliens/whatever), 13 are Human (even counting non-realistic humanoids like Olimar, Toon Link, Mega Man and the Villager, 4 characters are female) only 4 newcomers were announced so far though. (Mega Man, Rosalina, Wii Fit Trainer and the Villager) wouldn't be surprised if the villager had a female version like how WFT has a male version.

Rosalina's moveset could've worked perfectly well with Ashley + Red from WarioWare. It would also let Wario have more Wario Land inspired moves, since Ashley would cover WarioWare on her own. Smash lacks females? There, Ashley. You know what Smash also lacks? Small, fast villains. Bowser Jr would be amazing, but nope, there's no way Mario will get a 6th rep now.

Rosy is going to build more hype than Ashley would've; I can almost guarantee it. And as much as I wanted Bowser Jr., it's not like the game absolutely has to fill the "fast villain" archetype.

Smash Bros does not have a limitless roster.

Why would anybody want Bowser Junior? He's annoying as hell, dominates too much screentime in games after Sunshine, and ruined Shadow Mario, an otherwise really cool idea.

Boxing arena in the SSB reveal, that's nifty. Lil mac might be a possibility.

I hope having another Mario rep doesn't rule out Waluigi. I'd be really really happy if he got in, but I'm sort of doubting it'll happen. Don't get me wrong or anything, Rosalina seems like a good character, but with so many Mario reps, I'm not sure they'd add Waluigi (unless they add him as a Wario rep, even though he's only been in Mario games so far).

MK's sword doesn't exactly behave like a sword. A light villain with a paintbrush, how doesn't that sound promising? Bowser Jr is a villain, being annoying makes him even more satisfying to defeat don't you think? Bowser's personality is basically just being angry all the time, while Bowser Jr is a spoiled kid that's always trying to show off and impress Bowser. Too much screen time is subjective. He does get more screen time than Bowser himself, though. Doesn't that prove that he would be relevant in SSB4? Also, "ruined Shadow Mario"? He IS Shadow Mario, what are you even trying to say.

The very simple fact that Rosalina isn't a clone character and has very unique moves, is enough to make me welcome her addition. With that said, there are still a lot of other more iconic characters from the Mario franchise I'd rather see added
