What do you even mean by that? From a Technical standpoint ZSS is her own character, her existance takes pretty much the same effort in creating as any single character (or more in the balancing side because she's tied to Samus.)
She doesn't physically take up a slot, I mean. She shares a slot on the roster with regular Samus. Just like Shiek and Zelda. So there is no physical loss in potential slots by including her.

Don't believe them not having their own icon on the character select screen really changes anything in the development side of things. Unless you believe they have a "number" in mind as the absolute limit of characters, which I guess is possible but I would argue otherwise with the unfinished brawl characters and that it would be a strange way to go on about it when there are "transforming" characters, worst case being Pokemon Trainer.

That's all. :P
The downside as I see it is really in the effort and time it takes for designing and balancing the characters. It might still be opted out in favor of having the time to add more characters, or because it's too hard to balance with some of the new additions.

Regardless I'm quite sure ZSS is in anyway. I possibly see Pokemon Trainer being split as it's more appealing to people on at a quick glance on total characters. (I can't really see Charizard being removed with how popular it is.) My wishes being hopefully no character is removed though, my main was practically "random" and I had fun with pretty much all the characters in some way and would be sad to see any go.
I just want to be able to choose which of Squirtle/Ivysaur/Charizard, Samus/ZSS, Zelda/Sheik to pick right at the selection screen, instead of doing some obscure trick during the loading time to choose the one I want to play with. Even maybe a "lock", so I don't have to be afraid to press the wrong button, or not pick the Smash ball from fear to change character.

It was only Samus' Zero Suit Samus transformation that you had to hold down R.

"Okay, you can choose these transformations from the select screen, but not this one. That'd just be ridiculous.

I very much doubt the smash team is taking the idea of cutting characters lightly. They aren't about to say "Eh, fuck it - can't really be bothered to make ZSS this time around, lets just cut the character." It's not as if they are starting from scratch either, given that they can build upon their work in Brawl. The only reason I could see for them cutting ZSS is if she for whatever reason required a total rework, and even then I'd imagine it to be a tough decision. Though, on subject of Samus, I'd appreciate if you weren't forced to switch between Samus and Zero Suit Samus when you activate your final smash. I enjoy playing Samus but being forced to revert to a character I'm less familiar with when using my final smash means I generally steer clear of the both of them.
I wouldn't be surprised if they cut a Kirby character or even Zero Suit Samus
I personally think they'll add another kirby character because I really want bandanna waddle dee please sakurai.
If they re-add Metaknight. I hope they balance him out to where he is not the most over powered character in the game again.
Oh god they need to show some kirby pics. like if he sucked up WFT
If they re-add Metaknight. I hope they balance him out to where he is not the most over powered character in the game again.
I feel like it should be fairly simple to do. They can keep the moveset relatively the same, but you can lower the priorities on several of his "OP" multihit moves (as well as lowering the hitbox range), slightly increase the time it takes to do his down-smash, and he should be mostly set to go. I haven't played Brawl in a few months, but I think those were the major sticking points that I had against him.

That's not so bad then.

That alone balanced him pretty well. Theres obviously more to it but that was what was apparent for me.
speaking of project m im downloading it now now to find an sd card less than or equal to 2 gb
I don't know where everyone else lies on this one but I need Wario to be announce, He is my main guy in brawl.
I don't know where everyone else lies on this one but I need Wario to be announce, He is my main guy in brawl.
If wario comes back, I want a Wario Land/world-inspired moveset. But oh god keep his bite. That move has a lot of utility, and it's funny as hell

I haven't played Brawl in a few months, but I think those were the major sticking points that I had against him.
Meta Knight is problematic mostly due to the fact he can very easily stunlock every character in the game with attacks that fire off instantly and have multiple hits. To fix this, I'd like to see all rapid-style attacks of his altered to have absolutely zero hitstun, with things like his neutral and side-B reduced to minimal at best. Only his Up/Down-B, chargesmashes and single-swipe aerials are capable of significant stun and launching. Nothing else needs to change. I think that'd balance him out nicely. He does lots of damage fast, but has a very difficult time interrupting a foe who is already attacking him, requiring a more thoughtful, nimble playstyle in which you are most effective just outside the opponent's reach, taking advantage of moments when their guard drops to quickly rack up percentage.
I done a thing for all four games, just for fun: [t]http://samuelthomaservin.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/ssb_roster_2012_12_19.png[/t] my idea was that there are two possibilities: conservative, where you drop snake, update ike/lucario/trainer, and add 3 newcomers + more reps from existing series + surprise characters like ROB/G&W/Wii Fit Trainer, and ruthless, where you do all that and drop wario, replace lucas, and drop rob, with even more breathing room for new fighters.
How the hell is Mega Man similar to Snake?
I don't believe all brawl characters will return, because I think they're more likely to prioritize time and effort it takes to design and balance a character on new additions, player favorites, iconic characters, and veterans relevant because of big titles on the WiiU or 3ds. I think Toon Link only got in because WWHD put him back in the spotlight, he would otherwise have been too irrelevant and not unique enough fighter as a clone. I think Sonic still had a chance as a third party character because he's still relevant with big titles on Nintendo platforms. I think some characters even if they're not relevant in any big titles on the WiiU or 3ds are still safe; either because they're iconic faces to Nintendo exclusive titles (Like Cpt. Falcon and Fox), or because they're popular fighters in the Smash community (like Jigglypuff and Ice Climbers). My top 3 guesses on characters getting the cut is:
1. Snake He's not relevant on any big titles exclusive to the WiiU or 3ds (unlike Sonic), his most recent big budget title was exclusive to platforms competing with the WiiU, his realistic character design differs a lot more to the other fictional characters and the colorful visual style of the game, and lastly they already have the introduction of classic Megaman as a new major third party character. 2. Lucario He's no longer relevant as a new Pokemon. His movesets (iirc) were inspired by Mewtwo, and Mewtwo is both very popularly requested as a returning veteran and more relevant with his new mega evolution. 3. Lucas He's not a very unique fighter as a Ness clone. Since Earthbound was recently re-released on the WiiU virtual console, I could see it possible that he'd get replaced by a new fighter more relevant to Earthbound than Mother 3.
[editline]21st December 2013[/editline]
How the hell is Mega Man similar to Snake?
3rd party character iconic to classic Nintendo games but with no relevant new titles on Nintendo platforms. Snake and Megaman are both guest appearances.
i'll be very sad if lucas doesn't return
I'll be very pissed off if Mr G+W doesn't return Come back you beeping bastard :(
If they showed up in Melee and aren't a clone, then they're good to go. Don't worry about it. It's the Brawl newcomers who have the highest mortality rate in my mind.
i'll be very sad if lucas doesn't return
As much as I love Lucas and his wimpy underdog protagonist character, I don't see him returning.
I don't know where everyone else lies on this one but I need Wario to be announce, He is my main guy in brawl.
Hell yeah, me and my friends used to have four level 9 Wario CPUs brawling against each other and then bet on who would win and shit. Sometimes we'd put a level 1 in just for funsies. (He never got last place oddly enough)
