Mario already has enough reps without Saurai trying to cheat others in with using the "They're a spin-off now" card.
So it really just comes down to "We don't want more Mario franchise characters".
I would have liked that answer a lot better than just a bunch of dumb ratings that tell me nothing

Well, depending on how you look at it, Mario has
Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Yoshi, Wario, Rosalina and Donkey Kong, that's 8 (or 7 if you don't count DK)
Adding in Daisy and Waluigi would bump it to 10, and some also want Bowser Jr. that would make it 11. (or 9 and 10 respectively)
Oh shit

The Clone Engine was released
The time has finally come for Waluigi vs. Pit.

Im surprised people are still so dedicated to brawl hacking. Even though with 4 coming out its going to die.
So if we skip the whole idea of Daisy and Waluigi being their own character...
What if Wario's "Wario-Man" Final Smash was replaced with Waluigi? When Wario activates his Final Smash, Waluigi appears in the background as Wario's tag team partner, they high five and change places and Waluigi just wrecks havock by driving over people with his car and throws bombs and bashes peoples face in with his racket and kicks the everlasting shit out of everything! FUCK YEAH

That's like saying Melee's community died out after Brawl was released. I highly doubt people will stop modding. Maybe for a while, cause of SSB4's release and whatnot, but I'm sure we'll see more stuff from the Brawl community in the future.

But.... people stayed with melee because the combat was more tight.
Smash 4 looks like a step up from brawl.

But people are trying to fix Brawl's mistakes, plus they're adding all kinds of new shit into the mix, so i can see people staying for that kind of stuff. But hey, that's just me. :/
I want project M, but I have a PAL copy of the game :v:

To me it makes more sense to move on and watch what happens with smash 4 than to stay around with some old game that is outdated.

Thats kinda why I gave up on brawl mods. Hopefully it doesn't take so long to get to modding Smash 4.
Modded brawl and vanilla Smash 4 will provide very different experiences and are therefore each worth pursuing. Simple as that.
Thanks to Dolphin Emulator, Brawl is "on" PC as well. (Doubt we'll see good Wii U emulation any time soon)
With that, when 4 comes out I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried backporting it's assets to Brawl.
Reckon create-a-stage will be back?
Maybe? I don't think it was very well received to begin with, frankly.
I hope so, cuz I loved creating different fight spaces, even with the limited number of blocks. The one thing that I want most if it were to make a comeback is to incorporate a layer system, so you can have some structures built into the background (and perhaps the foreground). I don't see why they couldn't bring it back, unless they face time constraints.
Why would it be gone? Thers no reason to remove it, just improve it from last time
Yeah make it less "put blocks together against generic backgrounds".
It'd be nice if we could choose from more than three stage types. In an ideal world, they'd base the settings off of various elements. Stuff like Fire, Grass, Water, Sand, Wind, the works. Think Pokemon Stadium's transformations. It'd also be nice if you could plop trophies into the background to use as decorations alongside the provided blocks.
Then maybe let us choose from different stage types, such as scrolling, grounded, or aerial. Offer some pre-made stage hazards and remove the block limit. Make the grid size smaller to allow for more precise placement. Oh, and most importantly, don't make blocks take up more space than they should.

I think someone said this before, but something close to Forge World from Halo would be awesome. Every object should be fully manipulatable with very forgiving proximity limitations, if any. Though it's wishful thinking, the limitations in Brawl's stage editor might have been there to avoid glitches... or to preserve some kind of aesthetic.
Actually, I just found this Smashboards post from over a year ago that states all of my ideas, but better.
Stage Builder was a good step in the right direction for ur own custom content. But it was boring & could've been so much better.
More block options: lava, water, sticky blocks, quick-sand blocks, transparent blocks, disappearing blacks, even shrinking blocks would be appreciated. Blocks need to be rotatable & have better sizes to choose from. There should also be different variations of the moving & falling platforms. Walk-off stages & scrollable stages should of been implemented in Brawl, I would really like this option. Weather & day/night options would be great as well.
Basic themes like forest, desert, castle, & space themes should be available from the start. Game based themes should be unlockables or dlc. Stage hazards like flipping the stage or making it go temporary underwater would be fun. Other ideas include: falling debris, rising lava, & instant darkness. Game theme packs could include hazards based on their games & common enemies that could act like hazards.
Players could play their custom stages on Friend Mode or/& a mode dedicated to custom stages without both players having to download the stage before play. Players should be able to download a custom stage from the online store for free or from another player. Music from your SD card could be used for Custom Stages.
Edit: automerge why
Double Edit: In case it wasn't clear, I didn't write this post. I just found somebody else's post and shared it.
Oh, and locking the block types behind challenges was pretty dumb in my opinion.
So we have Pit, Olimar, Toon Link and Sonic all returning from Brawl. I think Meta Knight and Dedede are safe bets as well, given the series' connection to the Kirby franchise. Although I think Meta Knight might have big changes, like we've seen from Pit.
I'm also wondering if ROB will get in, or maybe if he's a one-off. I liked ROB but he's not too popular it seems. Game and Watch is also questionable if he will make it in.
You really shouldn't be too worried about characters getting removed; the only characters that have gone from one game to the other were the lazy clones and Mewtwo from melee.
ROB is unique and G & W is a melee vet , I doubt that either is going to be gone.
I suspect Pokemon Trainer will either get massively changed/removed, Mewtwo AND Lucario will be there with Mega Evolutions being a part of the move set and Final Smash respectively.
edit:
Now that I think about it, Pokemon Trainer might just get new starters, but will probably stay in the game.
I used one of the hammers that unlock challenges without having to do them to unlock one of the stage builder parts. It was, like, one block. What a waste.
No, Brawl was bad because of tripping.
It was also 'bad' because of reduced hitstun and a whole bunch of other subjective things, but tripping, fuck tripping, the only way to make a smash game worse than that would be to add moods ala the sims
I didn't mean Brawl was a bad game. I just it was a bad situation since we already got spoiled.
Major misinterpretation.
Also it was about having a global release, which is far superior to Japan getting it months in advance.

I don't see any reason at all to change Pokemon Trainer. The starters he has are given to you in XY so they're still relevant, they're major mascots through out almost every gen of Pokemon, and all pretty unique fighters, especially as a team.
