I don't get it why everyone wants her.
"but muh-muh loli character"
she doesn't have any influence in the warioland games, no one does.
Yeah but Ashley has that catchy theme
I remember back when I played Brawl with friends, I'd put Ashley's theme on 100% and every time the woman said "Ashley", I'd repeat it in the most obnoxious voice.
Needless to say neighbors were pissed.

Since when was wanting a character in the game about their 'influence'? I mean what influence do Pikachu and Jigglypuff have within their games? None. They are just another pokemon.
People want characters in the game based largely upon their own appreciation of the character.
Also, it's very easy to look down on someone else's opinions when you construct a strawman. It was unreasonable for people to expect her to be featured in the game, but it was not unreasonable for people to hope she was none-the-less.
Jigglypuff doesn't have much influence anyway, but Pikachu is fucking everywhere.

Jigglypuff I understand, but Pikachu is the fucking mascot lol
Jigglypuff is nowadays the least iconic Pokemon in Smash, as it is pretty much a relict of the 90's. Pikachu is everywhere, Mewtwo is everywhere, the Kanto starters are everywhere (specially Charizard), Lucario is everywhere, and even Pichu is everywhere.
Jigglypuff's roll move in Melee is my standard playstyle.
Real talk, I would love to see Pichu and Raichu as alt costumes for Pikachu. If Nintendo could remove the gameplay feature of Pichu hurting itself with its own electric attacks that would be swell.

That in and of itself would require changing hitboxes, speed, size, etc.
That being said, it'd be really cool of alt costumes like that would basically be clones but with different gravity and such. Want to play a slower, heavier Pikachu? Just change your costume to Raichu.
It'll never happen though
I wouldn't mind if they traded Jigglypuff for someone more prominent.
She's been a staple part of the roster for a good while, but she doesn't appeal to as many people as back then when she was on the actual Pokemon anime.
They should look on the bright side; once modding becomes a thing they've got a sweet new model to work with.
Why is it such a for sure thing that modding will even happen for SSB4? Genuinely curious here. Has there been any headway in hacking the Wii U yet? Even if they do develop homebrew for it, there's still the matter of if the game is anywhere near as easy to mod as Brawl is.

If there's a will, there's a way

I get that they're disappointed. But I don't understand why anybody would expect a newcomer to be plopped on the website just like that. Nintendo Directs and other press events are the only places we can realistically expect a new character.

Fair enough.
Automerge whyyy
[sp]Who is Ashley even?[/sp]
Ashley is one on Warioware's many, many sub characters.
For those who don't know:

Yes, but because of his popularity - not his actual influence in the game. With the exception of pokemon Yellow he bares very little importance within the actual game.
Yeah, her actually getting in was about as likely as what, a companion from a Paper Mario game? A sub-sub-sub character.
Besides, even IF Wario was getting another character (not very likely), it would totally be Jimmy T.

Funky.

should've been jimmy t instead of ashley imo, man his theme's so much better than Ashley's

Only like, 50 of the ~700 pokemon do. The rest have less character than the gravity gun from HL2.

That's my point. If we're basing our roster additions solely upon a character's in-game influence, then most of the pokemon currently in smash bros are going to be made redundant.
This isn't me hating on pokemon, much of the charm of pokemon is derived from the fact that no single pokemon (or very few) are of vital importance to the game, allowing you to chose which of them influence your own playthrough of the game - hence why a character's in-game influence ought not to be the only deciding factor behind their inclusion.

Sometimes still shots of Bowser look awkward, other times, I think he looks fine... Like in this last one, I feel his hair should be going down his neck a bit more.... I think I just have to get used to it. But no matter how he looks, he'll have the speed he always needed this time around!
Frankly I would like Mike to be in the game.

Reminds me of the whole Left 4 Dead 2 fiasco.
They're all whining now, but I can say with near absolute certainty that every single one of them will buy the game anyway
Looks like I have content for episode 2 of the Smashboards thread simulator video series.

It'll have to be a lot more than just smashboards this time around.
"Ashley as Assist Angst Simulator"
I have a feeling that Lucario won't be cut and that Mewtwo will also return.

It gets me hyped for a MM remake for sure.
