It gets me hyped for a MM remake for sure.
true, true.
Yesterday's pic was the only really special one this week. I hope we get something really cool tomorrow to think about over the weekend. Last time I thought that we got Luigi sniffing Marth, so I guess we'll see.
And that's not special?
double announcement picture of lucario and mewtwo charging balls
how i felt on the inside when skull kid was made a assist trophy
Every character we get to see rendered in the SB4 engine is a blessing in my book. I would have been ecstatic if Skullkid was playable, but I'd sooner see him an assist trophy than not at all.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/3deEsZZ.png[/t] :v:
After looking at this, I saw an avatar of Doopliss in there. That got me to thinkin' what if Doopliss was an assist trophy? He could transform into one of the fighters on screen (That includes your current character.) and uses easy bot AI to assist on the field? Instead of him being on a timer, he'd just change back into Doopliss and disappear after taking a small beating.

I still have the Nintendo Power Player's Guide for SSBM. They actually listed Ditto in the Pokeball Pokemon section, oddly enough. Here's what it says: "Ditto will Transform into the player who threw the Poke Ball, then join up with him or her for a short time."
It was removed due to the mechanic being confusing to players and very difficult to program
TBH I'm pretty sure SmashU could do it. All you'd have to do is swap out Ditto for a CPU modeled after the player. It'd be just like the 100-man brawl; you just have Ditto despawn and be replaced with a level whatever CPU
Their problem was this: > 4 Ice Climbers > 4 Pokeballs > All 4 thrown at same time, 4 Ditto appear > There are now 16 characters running around, 12 of which need a complex AI subroutine Visually it'd be a clusterfuck and potentially laggy, and under the hood the AI demand is so high that the routine reacts slower and slower until it's unreliable (or possibly crashes altogether).
Just make it so only one Ditto can be on screen at a time
Even then it was ultimately dropped for being confusing. I'm guessing QA didn't like the idea of items becoming AI players spontaneously, or a balance couldn't be found between ability and fairness in their AI. You don't want it to be too good, you don't want it to be too bad. Too good and it just wins for you, too bad and why even bother. That's a difficult thing to puzzle out, and they just didn't want to press for it.
Or they could have it so Ditto is a rare spawn, and can only transform into a random (playable) Pokemon, since Ditto has only been able to transform into other Pokemon in the games, and it would be like Togepi.v2 if it just transformed into another Pokemon that's spawned from a pokeball.
Here is a rumor that was floating around Smashboards, that came out before Ashley, and predicted her:
Rosalina is the only Mario newcomer. Waluigi and Toad were at once considered, but Waluigi remains an Assist Trophy, and Toad a move for Peach. Bowser Junior, Paper Mario and Daisy were never considered. Bowser Junior was planned to be an Assist Trophy, but was scrapped. Fawful is a new Mario Assist Trophy. He acts like Mr. Resetti, but will attack opponents at random. Diddy Kong will be the next revealed veteran, to coincide with Tropical Freeze’s release date. Diddy is paired with Dixie Kong as a tag-team, similar to Zelda and Sheik. Dixie has a separate moveset from Diddy, but it’s still being worked on. King K. Rool is a newcomer, the heaviest character on the roster. He is powerful and can KO light characters with 2 good Smash Attacks. His final smash has him use the blunderbuss and fire cannonballs from the top of the screen while they fly in from the sides as well. Gangplank Galleon is a stage. There is a new Zelda character, although it’s kept a secret so far. The names heard most often are Tingle and Ghirahim. Ganondorf will be buffed, although he still retains some of C. Falcon’s moves. He can equip a sword using his Down Special. Chrom is a Fire Emblem necomer. He wields the Falchion, and does not replace Ike. Chrom is expected to be revealed to celebrate the anniversary of the first Fire Emblem. Lyn’s Assist Trophy from Brawl has been scrapped. King Gangrel and Aversa are the new Fire Emblem Assist Trophy. Gangrel runs around slicing with his sword, while Aversa flies above using Aversa’s Night. They are the “unexpected” Assist Trophy. No newcomers for Yoshi or Wario. Wario’s overalls are now his default attire. The Kat & Ana Assist Trophy has been scrapped. Ashley from WarioWare is a new Assist Trophy. Ridley is a newcomer, and is scaled down a bit. It was a major feat on the development team. No new Star Fox characters. Falco is farther away from being a Fox clone. Wolf is no longer a semi-clone. Villager has a female costume. Mr. Resetti returns as an Assist Trophy. Tom Nook is a new Assist Trophy. He apparently drops bells across the stage, which causes opponents to trip. (Due to Sakurai saying tripping is removed, it’s unknown if forced tripping, like this and Diddy’s bananas will return, or if only accidental tripping is removed.) Palutena is a newcomer, with her moves based directly off Uprising. Magnus is a new Assist Trophy, and acts similarly to Little Mac in Brawl. All Pokemon veterans from Brawl return. Mewtwo returns. Mewtwo and Lucario have very different movesets. No new Kirby characters. Meta Knight will be revealed sometime in the summer of 2014. No changes made to the EarthBound series. All misc. characters return (Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B., Ice Climbers) Little Mac is a newcomer. He has the look from the Punch-Out!! reboot for the Wii. The Male Wii Fit Trainer is indeed an alt. for Wii Fit Trainer. Wii Fit Trainer has a butt attack. It is replaced by a headbutt for the male costume. King Hippo is an Assist Trophy. The Ghosts from Luigi’s Mansion are an Assist Trophy. Snake returns. Pac-Man will be the final newcomer. He is a secret character.
Take it with a grain of salt, just because it predicted Ashley as an Assist Trophy doesn't mean it is 100% right.
Ridley is a newcomer, and is scaled down a bit. It was a major feat on the development team.
Confirmed fake.

She really doesn't have many attacks at all. I'm calling this out as fake. Not that I wouldn't mind her being in smash bros, I'd just prefer Magnus as a fighter instead of an assist. Put someone else in there, like one of Viridi's other generals. Arlon would be really good, but I would lean more towards Phosphora since a lot of people like her.
I like the sound of just about all of it, but Diddy/Dixie tag team? Fuck that, they'd both work as individual characters. Also, keep Tingle away, please.
Take it with a grain of salt, just because it predicted Ashley as an Assist Trophy doesn't mean it is 100% right.
It's still incredibly unlikely for someone to make a guess at an assist trophy being one of the supporting characters in a spinoff series unless they guessed all of them. There's a whole host of characters in the WarioWare franchise and if anyone, Jimmy T. or Mona would be the most likely to guess given how they're the most prominent across the entire series.

She's a witch after all, the others are just normal people. Not a hard prediction to have made, honestly.
Well this is going to be harder than I thought, it looks like the moderator FalKoopa was doing sweeping editing/deleting posts due to how some people reacted with the Ashley reveal. Apparently someone threatened suicide on the boards over it too, but all posts dealing with it except a non-quote which I assumed he missed were purged.
If Wolf doesn't get taken out, I don't know who will be. Also I'd like this to be Wario's new Final:

Though this may just be me lying to myself because of how much I don't want Pacman or Tingle in this game, especially not over the likes of Waluigi.
If Wolf doesn't get taken out, I don't know who will be.
Falco
Falco
Pretty sure more people would complain about Falco going than Wolf. Mostly due to Wombo Combo solidifying Falco's spot.
as cool as ghirahim would be as a character, i don't want him in i'd prefer if the playable zelda characters were all characters that spanned multiple games, not one-off villians it'd be like making zant playable, kinda cool but not particularly necessary or fair
Pretty sure more people would complain about Falco going than Wolf. Give Fox a meteor smash, give Fox a Falco costume, everyone is happy.
