Is it wrong for me to want Samus and ZSS to be separate characters? It's so inconvenient to swap between the two during a match that you might as well separate them. Seeing as you can only transform with a Smash Ball, people who don't play with items will never see Samus transform during a match. Sure, you can transform by rocking the D-Pad back and forth, but that's so hard to pull off that it's not even worth it.
I also think that Pokemon Trainers Pokemon should be tweaked so they complement each other better. As it stands, it's too easy to master one and completely ignore the other two. They should be required to work together like a real Pokemon team.
Project M has Zero Suit Samus as a standalone selectable character, same with Zelda and Shiek.
Of course, they can switch between one another while in-game, but there's a more defined decision of who you start as without needing to do some button combination while you select them.
Knuckles would probably work well as a sonic representative or variant because knuckles is slower than sonic but has those ROCK HARD FIST NIPPLES and is generally all about punching or breaking through shit in games he's in. if we're talking sonic 3 and knuckles then he handled like a sonic variant with the ability to glide and access unique parts of levels which would be very interesting as a smash character, in my opinion at least.
Plus Knuckles > all sonic characters that aren't sonic pretty much

They'd probably put in Tails, for that two-man team dynamic that is legendary throughout the earlier years of the series, or Shadow, for popularity. Knuckles would probably get shafted, unfortunately, but I don't see other Sonic characters working well for some reason..
Knuckles is awesome, and should had been the Sonic Assist Trophy (Shadow'd been better as a costume; and having the Metal texture be Metal Sonic would had been awesome as well), but I don't think guest franchises shouldn't be getting more than a single PC. Still, would enjoy having it.
Also, the argument about Ridley being nerfed may apply to ANY villian. Or hero, for that matter. Fast and light would be neat enough for Ridley (which isn't as easy as some are making him to be; Ridley fights are mostly about killing it before he kills you, and he has more health and firepower, and is about as fast as you).
Samus is also not about kicks and cannon hammering. She is a walking wall of death and destruction by the endgame.
I've felt Samus should straddle the line between glacier and acrobatic. She is in powered armour after all.

Just bring back Melee Samus and I'll be happy. She was AMAZING in Melee, and I was devastated when I saw how bad she sucked in Brawl
uhm no
You just have to hold a button down while selecting her, the wiggle thing is only in adventure mode, and even then you only have to do it with game cube and classic controllers for some reason, with wii mote and wii mote + nunchuck control schemes, you still just have to hold a button.
That said it's pretty silly that they have the wiggle thing at all.
In the match, I meant. There's little strategy to no strategy to be found in swapping between Samus and ZSS during a match. And isn't the D-Pad/button holding transformation for Samus only one way?
I sort of agree.
I disagree that they should be separate characters... I agree that Samus should have an easier time changing between ZS and normal. I do also think that it would be nice if you could set whether you wanted to start as Sheik or Zero Suit Samus in the character select instead of holding down a button when you're starting the level
I still hope King K Rool shows up as a playable character, hopefully in his sweet pirate get up from Donkey Kong Country 2.
I don't really see K Rool showing up as a boss in adventure mode though, if anything Tiki Tong would probably fit a bit more.
I'm so hyped up for the 11th. I desperately want to see this new footage.
I'm hoping we get a new EarthBound/Mother representative. Hopefully Paula or Flint.
Also I would love a stage based on the Chaos Theatre or Happy Happy Village
I don't see why Paula would be a good choice for anything other than an alternate Ness skin, all her moves are already being used by Ness and Lucas.
Jeff or Duster would be much more interesting.
You know what I think they should do in SSB4
Split up Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard, and give every different pokemon (except for the ones that it doesn't make sense for to have a trainer) their own trainer
So Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard and any new characters all have a character running around in the background cheering them on.
As well as that, give Little Mac Doc Louis in the background. You can't have one without the other.
Lets just make a smash bros game with ALL THE POKEMON.
And no one else.
Super Pokemon Stadium Smash anyone?

And R.O.B. could have Professor Hector (or whatever that guy's name is) controlling him in the background, too!
That said, splitting up the Generation 1 starters would give Pokemon a large portion of the CSS. I would be opposed to that part.
the CSS?
Surely it'd be better to let them be separate, complete characters. Flesh them out a little more and they'll work just find by themselves.
Pokemon is popular enough to warrant that many characters.

Given that Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard are basically unique characters, we're 99% to that point already. Fair enough. But, as I said in an earlier post, I'd prefer it if they kept Trainer's Pokemon as 3 in 1 and tweaked them to be more dependent on each other. [del]Or cut the two that aren't named Charizard.[/del]
Yeah, I guess they could remove the other two, but they'd be missed
ivysaur is my favourite one, but i guess charizard is more iconic.
he's almost as widely liked as pikachu
Dr. Mario should be a costume for Mario. Throw him in there, it couldn't hurt.
From a coding perspective, it's not that simple. Dr. Mario would seem really dumbed-down if his neutral-B was still shooting fireballs and his f-smash was still that fireball hadouken attack thing. You'd pretty much have to make him a separate character.
(..., and having the Metal texture be Metal Sonic would had been awesome as well)
Oh my gosh, why did this not happen?! It would have been so perfect!
And isn't the D-Pad/button holding transformation for Samus only one way?
Pretty sure it does work both ways. ZSS only kills stuff while getting her suit back if she uses a final smash, though.

I heavily disagree. I can't mention off the top of my head, but I know for a fact other games have done something similar. It hardly seems like a big deal.

Surely it wouldn't be too much for an alternate costume to have one different sound effect and model, and one different animation?
I guess it depends on how they've got this character/costume system set up. Never mind.
Still, such a system would be very welcome. I want to play as Raichu, without Raichu taking up a character slot, for example.

But then Raichu would need its own voice clips (except for the ones that say Chu)

Would it really be so bad if his fireballs were fireballs? He still is Mario. Making a whole new character just to introduce non-fire elements someone that's literally another character in a costume is ridiculous.
If Wario can have two different models, so can Mario

I was going to type a long explanation, but just take it from me when I say that the inclusion of extra voices and player models for each color wouldn't take up a significant amount of room than is already being used. And besides, I'm sure they could find space on the disk, as the capacity has jumped from 8.5 gb up to 25 gb, which is almost 3x the storage capacity.

yeah, but it would take more effort.

I like the idea of giving all pokemon trainers running in the background (with the exception of Mewtwo) so that Pikachu and Jigglypuff could have their own trainers... Though I don't mind them not having trainers either since I guess it gives the implication that they're still in the wild. However I'm not so sure if I agree about splitting upp Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard... It's both a fitting ability for the trainer and a pretty unique feature for that character to have 3 different playstyles and I think a lot of people could end up feeling that the character have been nerfed in the sense that you had more options in brawl

They are making a game, the whole thing takes a lot of effort. A little more won't hurt.

Except they couldn't be in the wild because they spawn from Pokeballs at the start of every game
