KRAID CONFIRMED That's the oversized Metroid character people wanted, right? Right.

Darth Vader and Death Star confirmed for alt Rosa/Luma skin
Well, Smashboards exploded. They were all talking about how Mac has only been in one pic this week (which, to be honest, is a bit unfair compared to Rosalina) and complaining about the boring Nintendogs stage. Then the caption hit.
You know, i really don't want Ridley to be in. Partially because i don't care about what characters are in, partially because i don't think they would be right for smash and partially because i want to see the reactions.

Him and a few others. To me, Ridley, K. Rool, and Geno make up the unholy trinity of "SHUT UP ALREADY!" I seriously don't think any of them would be a good fit for Smash and I'm tired of hearing people prattle on about them.
FTFY
I really hope you're not implying that Waluigi is a better fit than Ridley, K. Rool, and Palutena.
I really hope you're not implying that Waluigi is a better fit than Ridley, K. Rool, and Palutena.
Uh no, I like him but even I don't think he should be playable in SSB4.
Never mind, the post is up Oh shit
With the picture it came with, i assume that they just mean that in terms of relative size between characters, the Nintendogs themselves are reasonably sized because they're actually puppies, heck, within the Nintendog's universe themselves are RC Karts based on Mario Kart as toys for puppies. the size disparencies within the series itself ranges from dolls to eventually Gashapon toys. (assuming the machine in Melee was human-sized) Dedede himself is probably twice as tall as Kirby and is "wide" (as in character sprites) as 4 Kirbies, placing him at around Bowser-size, Little Mac was shown to be as large, if not slightly smaller than Mega Man (though that would be strange considering the latter's proportions in comparison to LM's realistic size. But like i said, a character's height doesn't reasonably scale when you're taking absurdities like Olimar who's the size of a quarter and Kirby who is supposedly 8 inches tall. at least Mario sorta makes sense, but not much so when comparing him to Kirby who compares to MM who compares to Little Mac who then compares to Pikachu's stated size...
Makes me wish Waluigi was more of a used character in the Mario series. He only appears in sport related games now, I feel like they haven´t been showing him some love. Same goes to Daisy.
I don't see why they don't use him in the new super mario bros series. Wario and Waluigi would be a hell of a lot better than blue toad and yellow toad.
I don't see why they don't use him in the new super mario bros series. Wario and Waluigi would be a hell of a lot better than blue toad and yellow toad.
Wario's platforming is drastically different from Mario and Luigi's platforming. There's brute and blunt against quick and agile. Stages designed to be obstacles courses aren't well suited for Wario and enemy gauntlets are better suited for him. Stages would need to be designed with 2 distinct ways to beat them so that Wario and Mario/Luigi players could get to the exit. Then of course there's Waluigi who has no precedent in a platformer so they need to figure something out for him. If Wario and Waluigi are to work together in a game I'd want it to be in a Wario Land game where the two can tag in/out to solve different puzzles due to differences in their abilities and controls. Or even them working in-tandem like in the Mario & Luigi series. Mixing the two pairs just won't work together unless you dumb down all of their abilities to be near identical.
The more that I think about the size, the more I think Ridley being revealed this week.
BASED ON WHAT? I've been trying to be nicer to Smashboards as of late, but I had to share this one because I'm sick of seeing all these baseless assumptions.

big dogs eh?
Why is there EVER a question of scale? Look at fucking OLIMAR. Him and his Pikmin are supposed to be smaller than Mario's fucking shoe. If Ridley doesn't get in it's because they just plain didn't want him in.
Ridley wouldn't look out of scale in smash, he'd just look like a wimpy and stupid skeleton with his proportions scaled down all to fuck. He's better off as a massive stage hazard that much like in the games appears, huge, out of nowhere, to fuck things up. He'd look lame as fuck scaled down, not because of principle, but because of his proportions. [editline]19th February 2014[/editline] King K Rool, Plautena, Bayonetta, Waluigi, whatever, I'd be pretty fine with any of these. However even as a fan of the Metroid series, I think the idea of Ridley as a playable character is retarded.
Funky Kong plz. Surfboard up B ride the wind man
I would like to have Ridley in simply to have another Metroid rep and another playable rival to another character like Mario/Bowser, Link/Ganondorf, and Fox/Wolf. The boss version in Brawl was a good step but the boss battles are hardly used.
I still think one of the rivals from Prime Hunters could make an interesting fighter, serving as a second Metroid rep and Samus' anticharacter. Sylux or Weavel maybe? Sylux would have a big emphasis on speed over power, Weavel can split apart to multitask. They're also both implied to have ties with Samus' past outside of MPH, with Sylux being a vengeful ex-federation rogue who wants the glory for himself by eliminating the galaxy's most famous bounty hunter (even appearing at the end of MP3), and Weavel is the brain and spinal column of one of the first space pirates Samus ever killed inside of a robot body.

Both have been in only one game, the lowest rated and lowest selling in the whole series, not counting the appearance of Sylux's Ship which you wouldn't even know what the fuck it was if you hadn't played Hunters in the first place.
My point that they would make interesting and unique fighters still goes uncontested, however. There aren't even any logistical problems regarding size or moveset, their player-usable abilities are already established and can be easily translated to a Smash-friendly format. [editline]t[/editline] And there's always the chance - however unlikely - that a new Metroid title may be revealed before the game's release, featuring one or more returning characters from Hunters and making them less obscure as a result and further solidifying their usability in Smash. It isn't wholly unreasonable, seeing as how they've already set Sylux up to potentially return. Besides, since when has obscurity stopped the Smash team? They've said before (though I can't recall where) they put fun above fanbase when selecting characters.
It's barely been a week since the last new character reveal, are people really stupid enough to think they'll be announcing anything big any time soon?
Actually, I remembered his username from before the E3 trailer premiered. It turns out that he tried to argue that Goku actually had a chance of getting in. I know that sounds like a generic joke, but I'm completely serious.

Skeletal, elongated, with a segmented tail and an awkward head. Only slighty larger than the average human. I dare you call that wimpy. Seriously, smaller Ridley is a Xenomorph with fire breath and flight. I wouldn't really call that wimpy, seriously. Stage hazard? Meh, Super Metroid remains the best Ridley fight in the series, because it was smaller than the easy as fuck Zero Mission fight. Ridley at its best feels like an equal opponent in an endurance fight rather than a mere boss to beat via weak point exploiting. Also, other than Ridley, the other notable character Metroid has to offer is Dark Samus. Which feels unoriginal to the outside observer [sp]despite the fact that it is a fucking heavily mutated Metroid wearing a stolen armor as a shell, and whose fighting style is meant not to mirror Samus but to be creepy[/sp].
