I really hated this direction. It felt like their way of doing this was to introduce a whole lot of elements that made outcomes rely more on chance, as well as making all characters more clumsy and slow so that good players can't outmaneuver bad players as easily.
If you want veterans to be on the same level as first-timers, just let them use the fucking handicap function like it was made for in the first place.

I can agree that they were in the right to remove many of the things you could consider exploits, but it's majorly the drastic changes in character mobility and random mechanics like tripping that made this game a lot less fun to play with my friends than melee.
If they're continuing with the mindset of universally intuitive character controls for the sequel, I think the absolute best thing they could do is re-introduce melee's less-floaty feel; and of course remove tripping because that's really dumb.
Of the things Brawl did well, it did bring a lot of characters from Melee to be more equal to one another. The ranking of characters was a lot more level-headed, except for Meta Knight who's just stupidly fast. It also tightened the gap between casual competitive and serious competitive simply by removing that artificial barrier that was created by exploits in Melee's engine.
I misworded what I said when I said that they made things level between first-timers and veterans. I intended to say that the gap was not as huge due to barriers that I've described no longer existing. There's still a skill curve relating to knowing the character movesets and understanding spacing with each one, of course.
WHAT THE FUCK AM I TO DO FOR TWO HOURS
THIS WILL BE THE MOST EXCRUCIATING TWO HOURS EVER

I dunno about you, but I'm gonna make myself some breakfast and play Smash 64 for about 90 minutes.
You know L-cancelling was an intended feature, right? Wavedashing was a physics exploit, but L-cancelling was a feature.
Like combos. Meta Knight is the SOLE character that can combo in Brawl pretty much, because LEL NO HITSTUN. Handicap > removal of depth. Factual statement.
Here are the Brawl characters who I can easily see being removed:
Ike: He was in Brawl because his games were the newest, he's likely to be replaced by an Awakening character
Lucario: Like Ike, he was new at the time.
Wolf: A clone of a clone of a clone, and no-one really wanted 3 StarFox characters.
Toon Link: Young Link got axed and replaced with Young Link But Now He Has An Outline, I wouldn't be surprised if they replaced Toony with yet another Link.
Otherwise? I would debate that they could easily all stay.
I feel as though Toon Link will stay because of the HD remake that's coming out.
All right, I tried to set up a Hangout. It'd be nice if a couple people would join so I could see if I did it right. I'm also ready and rearing to edit the OP to add any info that comes out today.
Sorry, I don't take her actions in a non canon anime short as an indication of her fighting abilities. Also the short wasn't made with 3d models so it's of course easier to make her look like a fighter.
To be honest I would be really happy if she were in but at the moment I don't see how it would work.
The way I see it, if Zelda can fight, then Palutena should be able to manage just fine.
Woke up early so I wouldn't miss the Nintendo Direct, still have an hour left! I knew I did my math wrong.

Plenty of time to lub yourself up.
So I just played Brawl for about an hour. I played as characters related to characters I want in Smash 4.
I played as Bowser, Ganondorf, Dedede, and Wolf for Ridley, K. Rool, and Mewtwo.
Pit for Palutena
Pikachu and Lucario for Mewtwo
DK and Diddy for K. Rool and Dixie
Ike for Chrom
(pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease)
Some copypasta for an alleged "my dad works at nintendo so I have seen the trailer for the new smash game" mentioned The Wonderful 101 as a possible character. While the rest of the post is obviously bull, I had completely forgot about this game... yet it seems not completely impossible that it would be one of the newcomers, or at the very least an assist trophy
i think it broke

AHHHH THAT TRAILER.
VILLAGER CONFIRMED
Pit confirmed for new Up-B
[sp]Megaman and Villager confirmed[/sp]
Wow, did not expect villager.
The damn stream keeps freezing now.
hooooooooooooooolyyyyyy fffuuuuck
The remix of Dr. Wily's stage is going to become a fan favorite before the game even comes out.
Now I pretty much have to buy a WiiU
Megaman was pretty damn cool.
I feel like I've just had sex after watching Megaman appear.
They also didn't change the damn title. Its just gonna be Super Smash Bros Wii U
When I saw the villager get a letter I was saying to myself "No. It can't be, it'd just be too stupid."
But they did it.
Holy fucking shit, awesome. It's about fucking time we get Megaman. Also loving Villager.
Did you guys see anything else interesting? I noticed a spirit tracks level
that was pretty dissapointing tbh but i guess ill wait and see before i judge
Man, I didn't get to see it. The NA stream keeps skipping all over the place.
And of course, right when it gets to smash bros the stream cuts out.
Holy shit guys, goddamn mega man is gonna be playable
So... Where's the dojo?

They said that they haven't put the site up just yet. It'll be up when it's up.
