I have to say, if both Jigglypuff and Mewtwo, as well as character-specific entrances, come back, it'd be a nice touch to have Pikachu come out of a Poke Ball, Jigglypuff out of a Great Ball, Lucario out of an Ultra Ball, and Mewtwo out of a Master Ball.
Gotta agree on the bonus being needed, the lack of those were also part of what made Brawl feel empty for me.
I noticed on the boxing ring that the characters have multiple shadows instead of just a singular one like the previous games, probably due to the lighting around the ring. Semi-dynamic shadows for the Wii U version?
I personally think Smashville is the most neutral stage.
I like smashville because you get that real simple style of arena with just a few things added on top, like the platform going back and forth, and the items on balloons. Plus the music is always nice there.
Wow, Project M is pretty solid. I've been having a lot of fun with it.

Eh, I wouldn't want all of them to all come out of Pokeballs. Mewtwo could easily have something like "teleport in, make gesture a la Crystal/Emerald/Platinum begin battle animation while his RBY era cry is made" so it's like you're fighting Mewtwo for realsies and not just fighting a trainer who has him. (sort of like what Project M has for him)
I'd love a Smash Bros game that allowed a certain degree of cosmetic customization, though. Stuff like different hats, taunts, entry/victory animations and results screen victory music.
Mario for instance would have stuff like his wing cap/raccoon-eared cap/doctor's mirror, his Doctor Mario taunt from Melee, appearing on the stage via go-kart, etc.

It's pretty enjoyable. I don't think all the changes in it are good but the vast majority make for a faster, more enjoyable game than Brawl.

Pic of the day. Now consecutive standard attacks will always transition into a finishing move. This is Fox's finishing kick after his standard combo attack.

So besides clipping, I wonder if that means all rapid hit combos have a fixed limit, or that means they end with a hard hit

One thing is certain, it will affect characters such as Pikachu, Falco, Fox, Captain Falcon, Meta Knight, Kirby, King Dedede, Link, Mr. Game & Watch, & Sheik.

I kinda wish captain falcon just had a basic three hit combo. Those rapid hit combos either range from too good (Meta-Knight) or they just leave you too open to having your shit slapped (Captain Falcon)
Curious to see where this goes
I wonder if this was done to combat Meta Knight spamage?
I get the feeling that's a bad translation, it's more likely that they changed it so that you can seamlessly transition into a tilt attack out of a neutral A combo, something I've been annoyed that you can't do pretty much ever since I've been playing SSB

Man that'd be fucking great, sometimes it can be difficult to pull off tilts in more hectic moments.
I hope that Melee-style combos make a return.

I like the weightier feeling of Melee regardless of the comp scene.

it's not even difficult it just straight up doesn't work if you try to transition straight from a neutral A combo into a smash/tilt attack, they just cycle through the combo again, it's annoying as fuck when you're trying to play as Fox or Captain Falcon
I hope you can transition into up and down tilts as well, those are the ones I have difficulty pulling off consistently.
There's times I wish there was a dedicated smash button option just so I can use tilts and smashes separately
If we look closely to the Mac's trailer, we can see him ending a combo with a uppercut so maybe... we can hope it's controllable and you can choose for a neutral, front, up or down tilts to be enders.

I guess it'd make it kind of like Marth's side special?
But the way Sakurai's post today is worded, it kind of implies that they all just have an ending finisher animation, and that would suck, it should all be input based
I don't think there was ever a time where I thought "Man, I NEED to use a Tilt move here".
It always happened on accident when trying to do a Smash Attack.
I don't even know what you guys are talking about, all I know to do is dodge roll all across the stage until I can find an item to throw.

This is usually a sign of being a novice player.
Tilts are EXTREMELY useful. They're an absolute necessity for combos and even sometimes KOing at higher percentages because they come out so much faster.
marth side tilt wrecks shit thats for sure
What exactly is "tilt attacks"?
What exactly is "tilt attacks"?
Pressing a direction and the A button. But it's not a dash attack and it's not a smash attack.
If you know how to dash and smash, don't do that and you'll get what people have coined as a tilt attack.
I always end up smashing with a tilt attack.
The way I interpreted it was that you can't just stand there holding the A button as your first attack in the basic combo keeps repeating until it hits someone. But hey, easier combo chaining into tilts would be pretty good too.

and the A button is where again?
I still think they should add a seperate button for smashes.
On a standard controller, there are two jump buttons. Why not use one of those for smashes only, like fighting games often do with the light and heavy attacks?
Or just add it as an option in the controller customize menu.
Maybe it won't be necessary with the Gamepad/Pro Controller analogs being less slippery than GC/Wii Contollers but I wouldn't mind that little addition.
EDIT: OR allow us to use the right analog for smashes and allow them to be chargeable!
Boy am I glad we'll be able to use the gamepad and pro controller for Smash 4, cause I've tried using the classic controller and wii remote/nunchuk in Brawl; they both suck to use.

You could do something like that in Brawl with Wiimote+Nunchuck.
I remember setting it up where I could swipe the Wiimote in a direction to do a tilt attack.
I didn't have a GC or classic controller, and as said before anything other than that sucks.

Sadly I had to resort to the Nunchuck to play Brawl since I had a bundled Wii with no GC compatibility. I know your pain Durrsly.
Thanks goodness for the customizable controller option. I also learned to get a little better with tilts but I would still want an option for smashes to be assigned to another button.
