While it doesn't have lots of range, I recall it being a projectile reflectable move, just like Mario' Cape.
Ah, so I have been using it wrong. I'll have to try that out later.
Well, yeah. He was basically designed to be like a toy. Before the NES, no American retailer would've stocked a video game system because the '83 crash/'Atari Shock' was still in recent memory. His place in Smash Bros is totally deserved I think.
Oh, I completely agree. I was just pointing out why some people might think he deserves a spot less than others.
I would guess it's because he's more of a toy than a video game character and that he seems a bit generic on the surface. Oh, and I don't know if I'm just bad at ROB or something, but I hope they change his side special. I can never hit anything with that thing.
His side special? No, it's his down special that's fucking useless. I know it was one of the main features of the toy and all, but come on, they can tweak it to make it useful. Even if it's fully charged it barely does shit and you can only use it once until the top that is currently onscreen disappears.

You can pick up the top and throw it which causes 10% damage, it also has high knockback, hardly useless IMO
ROB is my main, and he's pretty devastating. You can equally mess with people form far away and up close. His neautral air is a beast when you get the timing down. Down smash is one of the best crowd controls. His spot dodge (neatral quick dodge thing) lasts many frames. Recovery is godlike. You can use it to chase people off the stage with forward air and still make it back. disadvantages are few, but I noticed that small or fast characters like fox or pikachu can mess him up a bit hes really nerfed in Project M
Dunno how you believe ROB is nerfed in project M. I've seen some people do absolutely nuts things as him. His over-b and up-b recovery thing is way more flexible, along with his down air being way more flexible as well. One of the guys from the reddit IRC that plays project m online puts together highlight videos weekly, and he is godly as rob. (second clip shows some crazy rob moves..whole video is impressive though) Not specifically aimed at you, but I wish people would check the differences between their melee/brawl mains before complaining about how they're ruined in project M or how much project M sucks. I've played melee/brawl/project M and I'm not saying any are better than the other, but it's always worth taking the time to research your character before making any claims.
....lol. So that's why they removed timers in PM. (Only for them to accidentally come back in 3.02 it seems)
I have a feeling Rob will get revealed in April to coincide with NES Remix 2. Speakin of Rob, whats with everyone's beef against him?
"OMG WHY IS THAT STUPID TOY IN I WANTED *insert character here* LOL" ^That answer your question? People tend to overlook ROB's importance as the savior of gaming in the west in the early 80's. They just see a waste of space that should've gone to another character.

Saying "the west" kinda overstates his importance since the home computer game market was always really lively in Europe.
the home computer game market was always really lively in Europe.
With actual computers though, not really what we would call consoles.
character inclusion should b on gameplay possibilities mainly not just historical significance alone
character inclusion should b on gameplay possibilities mainly not just historical significance alone
Bingo. I believe what it all boils down to is what a character brings to the table. And it doesn't just have to be the obvious- it can be something miniscule as well. Think. The Brawl roster has quite the diversity. What did each character bring to the table in terms of gameplay, style, popularity, historical signifigance, etc.? Even the clones/semi-clones must have something about them that makes them stand out.

Except Wolf, whose concept pretty much was "Fox' specials, but with a radically different feeling". But I wouldn't quite count him as a clone.
Wolf might be the best "clone", he had a hugely different feel.
After watching that guy play Rob and Samus, I went back to play the original Brawl because Samus just seemed wicked OP with all those buffs, but honestly I see where it was needed. She kinda sucks. I wish I still had my Wii. Installing Project M for Dolphin seems a tad confusing.
-snip-
I was just thinking, if Snake made it back to Smash Bros just imagine the kickass music they could put into the game with MGR:R out and MGSV on the way

Configuring dolphin settings wise to run the game is only a few minutes of flipping through settings, and otherwise all you have to do is locate an ISO somewhere (easy enough) and then use the .bat file to build the new project m ISO from that really. After that check the hash, make sure its one of the correct ones, and you're ready to go. Its great fun being able to challenge people online, lagless and in full HD resolution.
Found this while lurking on NeoGAF:
Well I picked Megaman, Villager and Little Mac so surely Captain Syrup is next? [sp]please?[/sp]

My god that Sonic stage is dull compared to the original. And sorry to nitpick but has Samus ever used Ice Missiles?
My god that Sonic stage is dull compared to the original. And sorry to nitpick but has Samus ever used Ice Missiles?
Yes she has, on Metroid Fusion.
Yes she has, on Metroid Fusion.
and prime 3.
Ahh, fair enough. Not worked through to MP3 yet and I have no interest in Fusion.
Ahh, fair enough. Not worked through to MP3 yet and I have no interest in Fusion.
Really? Fusion is a pretty solid Metroid game honestly, yeah, it's WAY linear compared to the other entries, but at least you can still classify it as a Metroid game. Also watching that Project M video, I wish Samus' forward air was like that normally, her rapid-fire explodey thing sucks, a good heavy swipe from her arm cannon is far better
My god that Sonic stage is dull compared to the original. It wouldn't be so bad if they were just balance changes, but they took out Luigi's mansion in it's entirety for another fucking 3 platform over a flat stage map. Also removed minigames from the wario stage.
