April Fools, it is a side scrolling action game!

APRIL FOOLS THE JOKE IS THAT YOU GET A NORMAL SCREENSHOT
The stage looks interesting.
I wonder what the stage is based off of

Judging by that spring in the screenshot, it looks like Stage Builder may be returning!
Oh god, if this is true I think we might be able to choose different themes!

generic spring in desert temple that doesnt belong to any game
no details given on the stage at all which is uncommon for a stage reveal
yeah thats definetly stage builder
[editline]1st April 2014[/editline]
or its another KI:U reference
ugh enough stages i want characters
The stage design doesn't even look like something you would expect to see on a normal stage. A high platform on the left, weird stairs on the right, and random spiked ball floating in the air, and a spring. Speaking of the spring, it looks way too generic. This has to be the stage builder.
At least, that's what I'm hoping.
Edit: There's been a lot of talk that this stage shares a lot of elements with the interior of Palutena's Temple from Kid Icarus: Uprising. The only thing really throwing me off is that spring, which looks incredibly out of place.

Hope it's the stage builder. Would be neato to have more assets to play with than the brawl's stage editor.
Of course, why would we need more assets when we just build stage high side walls and flat floors.

There were springs in the Rumble Falls stage in Brawl.
Were there springs in KI:U?
Maybe the Spring is a thrown item, not part of the stage.
Castlevania?
Pic of the day. The Gust Bellows can blow opponents away with its powerful wind blasts. When someone drops it, though, the gusts run wild! Out of the new items, more than a few will be from The Legend of Zelda series. We'll take the most interesting and straightforward ones and reformulate them to match the Smash Bros. world.
I really wish they used some of these new Zelda items as moves for Toon Link, god damn. He could use a non-clone moveset, and Sakurai obviously has ideas for Zelda weapons in Smash.
Oh well.

I'm so glad this was addressed; I have no idea what Sakurai was thinking by considering the Lorax.

hm this imply's there's going to be more zelda weapons to come not a bad idea to give some of the more creative ones a second life on smash bros in general casural play is going to be fun with all these cool ideas for weapons

I can't stop laughing at "IKE CLIMBERS"
That ending was just mean.
Although, the did it with Pichu last year, and there are rumours of him actually getting added...

There are still more than enough "not flat" stages.
And if this is still an issue, you can download the 78 Stages Pack.

Oh shoot, I completely forgot that there was a version of that pack for Project M. Brb, downloading.
In regards to SSB4, I wanna see more Kirby items! Bring back the Parasol, at least.
I know you guys usually disagree with my opinion but my biggest SSB4 wish as of now (in the realm of things that have a chance of happening) is Ridley playable.
Speaking of which, I'm almost positive if Ridley isn't playable in SSB4, the PM crew will give him one of the 5 slots remaining.

My only wish for SSB4 is that they make the technical skills more intuitive for any player to come to grips with, but still difficult to master as it was in Melee.
L-cancelling I'm a bit wary about, because there's almost no situation where not L-cancelling is favorable. Once you know how to do it it just becomes an additional input that you use every time instead of being much of an informed decision that you make or choose not to make. Either make the situations where you don't want to L-cancel more prominent, or just speed up recovery frames and do away with the mechanic in favor of something more indexed instead of a binary thing.
Teching is great, just needs to be something that new players can learn without needing to go on the internet. Same goes with directional influence. A more in-depth tutorial of sorts could do wonders, but there's the problem of getting people into a tutorial in the first place, as many players get the gist of the game and feel like they don't need a stinkin' tutorial.
Wavedashing I have no opinion on. It's just a bit of grounded movement via sliding, so it's not some gamebreaker, but at the same time I wouldn't mind seeing it stay gone.

While I am totally up for SSB4 being more competitive friendly and fast paced, I also hope it just straight up removes all this shit.
It's just an unnecessary layer of complication, and these techniques all feel really goddamn awkward and unnatural to use. Most of them weren't intentional anyway, if any of them.
Teching is one of the only I am mostly fine with, although I think they should switch to pressing jump right before landing as opposed to shield, because that would just feel better in my opinion.
Super Scope animation?
Probably (and I really hope so) a placeholder animation until they finish them up.
From what I see, they could just bend the arm for the character that use the trigger of the S. Scope.
Character like Wario and Pikachu wouldn't really need new ones.
