waiting for this direct is like waiting for christmas
i'm hoping for a 2014 release date
Is it possible that something from the Phoenix Wright series will make an appearance in the game? Unless they already did in Brawl, I wouldn't know. Maybe I've been playing too much Phoenix Wright lately.

Phoenix Wright in mvc was awesome and i would love him in smash but i don't see it happening unfortunately.
Perhaps an assist though, something along the lines of yelling "OBJECTION!", "HOLD IT!" or "TAKE THAT!" with each speech bubble doing damage upon impact perhaps with different effects, like take that throwing a random item at the opponent.
Nah, once summoned Phoenix doesn't do anything until the results screen. Then, he yells OBJECTION! if the character who summoned him didn't win, and tries to argue that the summoner should've won on a technicality.

I did not know that he was in MvC. In that case I doubt he'd make an appearance.

Doesn't mean much, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney is proof that Phoenix Wright is still a Nintendo-based character.
And the only game he was in that's not a Nintendo consoles game is UMvC3 (minus the iOS rereleases)

I suppose I'm poor at making assumptions. That's good news though!
don't get your hopes up
(it would be cool tho)
I think it would be neat-o if they were talking about Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney in the Direct, talking about US release date or something.
They show a new trailer and at the end, it shows Layton and Ace butting heads over something, then it says "There's only one way to settle this."
Cue the new smash bro opening. They both spawn on a obvious smash bros stage and begin to fight. Both of them confirmed for Smash.
Extremely far-fetched, but that would be the tits.
Also, is this just a smash bro direct or will they be talking about other things?
If Professor Layton is is in Smash, he'd better use this thing.
Honestly I'm expecting this direct to be a big deal. We're probably getting a release date, Sakurai has set up a Twitter account for Smash Bros (https://twitter.com/SmashBrosJP), and he'll want to get everyone into maximum overhype.
I'm guessing we'll get 3 newcomers a la the first trailer, along with some info on general gamemodes etc. Veterans could go either way.
Depending on how close we are to release, they might just dump a bunch of obvious (or not-so-obvious) veterans on us to get them out of the way. If it's still a ways away, though, they might hold a few back to be revealed later on. I'm expecting/hoping for two newcomers at the very least, as well.
Maybe they'll finally talk about how the 3DS and Wii U versions will interact, too.

Actually, this would be a perfect time to reveal Mewtwo.
I thought of something that might be cool for a falcon reveal
Sonic is dominating a match on green hills or something, taunting the other characters with "You're too slow!"
As soon as he says that, it cuts to the sillouhette of a race car speeding in the distance
More sonic beating the other players
Cuts to the sillouhette again, this time someone is standing on top of the car as it's moving
Another sonic taunt
The sillouhette on the race car jumps off and the car crashes into the background, and falcon punches sonic, KO'ing him
Then the gameplay shows off a revamped Falcon, being very fast and having heavy-hitting movies, but having to be precise and can be easily punished

Falcon isn't going to be completely revamped dude.
Falcon could already be punished fairly well if you were good enough anyway. The recovery on a lot of his moves is bad if you miss/get blocked.
all i want to see for captan falcon is a return of his melee speed, his god knee, and give him a different neutral A combo, the rapid punch thing has always been crap

It'd be good to see other characters who got nerfed from Melee to Brawl get a somewhat similar treatment.
I really, REALLY want to see Jigglypuff back to her former glory.
Link better actually be a contender. He was way too heavy in Brawl.
Well, they've already shown Link some love in the form of a (apparently very powerful) meteor smash.

Here's hoping they keep it, and improve his mobility a bit to make him genuinely usable.
I can't counter my friend who plays as Link for shit
what am I doing wrong, what are the tactics :v:

Play as Toon Link

But now, rapid combos have a limit of hits, all of them hit because they stunlock the target and finish with a extra move.
See the rapid straights that little Mac do (watch here: http://youtu.be/TAhGyiVNKAE?t=1m17s). And Sakurai already revealed that new mechanic on a pic of the day.
So characters with rapid combos like Cpt. Falcon will eventually be buffed. I hope Link's Melee stabs come back.
Not completely sure, but I think that only implys to Little Mac.
Nope, just found my source.
Scroll down to week 9, the picture with Fox kicking Samus.
Now consecutive standard attacks will always transition into a finishing move. This is Fox's finishing kick after his standard combo attack.
I think they made so that Standard rapid combos like these feel more appealing. But the stunlock thing is speculation. It would make sense to stun the enemy in place since now, these combos don't go indefinitely and have a strong attack at the end.
Have any 'leaks' regarding the direct on Tuesday popped up yet?

so he's not revamped ?

falcon's jab is great, the first two hits are good combo starters, the mach punch sucks ass tho

I think it'd be better if he just threw two jabs and a knee. That mach punch sucks because if you start it, you have to go through at least one loop of punches before you can move again, it's so easy to get punished for using it
