Wii-u is dead.
Everything is really good but they pushed it back so goddamn far and didn't announce anything special like Smash Run for it, I just can't see it going well, it really should of been the other way around.

So, uh, I have no reason to get a Wii U unless the price really drops now to play with friends, as the 3DS version comes out much earlier.

I never asked for a 3DS version. I would've been fine with one version of Smash on Wii U to play over the summer.
I loved everything about the direct but that release date estimate for the wii u and 3ds version baffles me

I can't imagine smash playing too well on a handheld personally.

I think the Nintendo development teams were just not prepared for the amount of work needed to develop an HD game.
It was the same problem for Mario Kart 8 and I'm sure it'll happen again for the new Zelda.
Substitute is a ninja-like move.
It only makes sense.
I will gladly get both but it does kinda suck that wii u comes out later, The Wii U needs more love than 3ds.

My theory is they are delaying in favour of giving the WiiU version an exclusive more expansive single player campaign.
I'm not sure any exclusive features they have to offer can save it now though.

They're totally pushing the 3DS version. The Wii U version just has better graphics. The 3DS has the better stages, more content, etc.

Maybe the wii u version is coming later because they have more exclusive things planned for it.
The only safe presumption I can make on the release dates factor is the rumor not long after the game's announcement that the 3DS version was the only intended version to begin with. It wouldn't surprise me if the Wii U version's still got a ways to go in development while the 3DS version's comparatively close to finished if they started on the 3DS first after all.
