Charizard's back! But she doesn't have a trainer anymore. I wonder what happened to him >:3
He's still recovering in the mental ward after dealing with Twitch Plays Pokemon.
Do you have any evidence?
Present the evidence that Charizard is a female.
I swear to god if I search your username and find pokemon vore art on furaffinity you're banned forever
your avatar has never worked more perfectly
The lack of Captain Falcon & Falcon Punch is very bad... Can't have a Smash game without it!
After letting it sink in a bit, I'm quite excited for Greninja. Goroh was confirmed as an assist trophy, so there's no need to worry for Captain Falcon. And it's confirmed that they're bringing back stages from Brawl AND Melee. It's all I could've ever wanted.
[editline]8th April 2014[/editline]
Time for more people to get upset. [t]http://abload.de/img/shit3ps8e.jpg[/t]
Guys, CLEARLY that's [sp]Crash Bandicoot![/sp]
I'm expecting something pretty big for the Wii U version. To be delayed by two season and still have the same character roster. There's no way at this point, that the stages can take around 6 months. They must be doing something magical for solo mode. I'm kinda hoping a mode I imagined as a kid: A sorta MMO mode. Kinda like how smash run is but 4-24-60 players, with focus on trying to fight people you encounter across a large map. It could be free for all or team based with special SSB modes like a capture the flag-like mode. I think I wrote a 5 page Word document about the idea like 5-10 years ago. Man the things I did :v:

Nintendo I'm available for hire.
Also, City Trial (back in Air Ride) was fun as fuck and I'm glad to see the same mechanics are being used in Smash for a great big party gamemode.
I was really hoping that the titles of the games were a work in progress. Because Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U does not fit the theme of Melee or Brawl.
Watching the Megaman Final Smash, all the MegaMen except .EXE have Left Handed busters. Never noticed that before.
Watching the Megaman Final Smash, all the MegaMen except .EXE have Left Handed busters. Never noticed that before.
Interestingly, left handed armcanons have a practical advantage - the use of the right hand to less awkwardly manipulate things (if you're right handed anyway) Not sure why EXE's is on the right though. Maybe he's a lefty?
Good to see Yoshi back (I don't get how people thought he would ever be cut, including the good Captain) but I would have liked to see more footage of his moves. Hard to pick out the details of how he's changed/improved.
Is there a list of all the new shit introduced in this video? This direct's a little too long.
Oh man. Let's see... -Summer 2014 release date for 3DS, Winter 2014 for Wii U. -The 3DS version treats stage music like Melee, where each stage has only two tracks. In the Wii U version, music is treated like Brawl with many more tracks per stage and a menu to set track frequency. -The 3DS version will run at 60FPS, even with 3D on. However, there is one caveat in that Assist Trophies and summoned Pokémon will only animate at 30FPS in that version. -Transforming characters are gone: --Zero Suit Samus is now a separate character, also in her Other M look. Those high heels are now jet boots and she's been powered up physically. Presumably her Final Smash is also different now, but we don't know what it is yet. Standard Samus still has the Zero Laser, but it doesn't transform her afterwards. --Zelda and Sheik have been separated, and now have real Down-Bs. Sheik's Side-B has also been replaced. --Charizard is back, alone. His Final Smash appears to be Mega Charizard X now. -Yoshi is finally reconfirmed. He now stands fully upright and less like an actual bipedal dinosaur. -Greninja is the latest newcomer. His Final Smash appears to be a rapid mid-air strike against a moon backdrop. -Lucario can Mega-Evolve, presumably as a new Final Smash. -Rosalina's moveset has been detailed. Her Side-B sends the Luma forward, and the two can then be controlled simultaneously while in separate locations, and they have different movesets while apart. They detailed her other moves, but I didn't hear much aside as that's when my dad decided to start loudly arguing with someone over something unimportant. Her Final Smash involves a Power Star in some way. -Mac's moveset has also been detailed; pretty much stuff we've already seen. Powerful on the ground, weak in the air, Giga Mac as his Final Smash, and the power meter changes his standard special to a single-use instant K.O. He also has his green wireframe form from the arcade versions as an alternate skin. -Villager's moveset was also detailed. His Final Smash has the Nooks build a little house on the opponent, which then explodes and sends them flying. His attacks are all stuff we've already seen, but we know what's mapped to what now. -Wii Fit Trainer is now renamed Wii Fit Trainers: the male trainer is confirmed as an alternate costume, with the same exact hitbox and moveset as the female one. Two special attacks were detailed: a large projectile attack, and a focus charge that powers up all her moves. The synergy between the two attacks was demonstrated. -Mega Man's Final Smash involves bringing in X, Volnutt, .EXE, and Geo and all five of them fire a massive combined blast like the old Triple Finish the Pokémon Trainer had in Brawl. His Robot Master-based moveset was once again demonstrated. -A whole bunch of balance and move changes for veterans. Generally everyone has been powered up in some way while also being more on-level with each other. -New and returning Assist Trophies revealed this Direct: Elec Man, Saki, Devil, Knuckle Joe, Lyn, Dr. Wright, Midna, Dark Samus, Chain Chomp, and pong paddles from the Color TV-Game. -Pokéballs that contain Legendaries are shown as Master Balls. --Normal Pokéball: Meowth, Electrode, Eevee, Staryu, Metagross, Fennekin, Meloetta (yep, a normal ball), and Gogoat. --Master Ball: Arceus, Entei, Deoxys, Palkia, Kyurem, Victini, Keldeo, and Xerneas. -New and returning items revealed: Beam Sword, POW Block, Fire Bar, Back Shield, Bombchu, and Rocket Belt. -Certain stages have bosses. Ridley was implied for Pyrosphere, while Wily's Castle has the Yellow Devil. All players can attack the Yellow Devil, who will explode like a Smart Bomb when defeated. The player who landed the final hit is immune to the explosion. -The stages were all given names. Stages just revealed for 3DS include Balloon Fight and Jungle Japes (Melee). Stages just revealed for Wii U include Garden of Hope and Halberd (Brawl). -Final Destination is back and its native form for Wii U was revealed. But it can also take on the theme of any other stage while retaining its single-platform layout. -Online was detailed. Friend matches can be customized fully, while random matches are split into two categories: -For Fun: All items on, every stage except Final Destination, only wins recorded, four-player battles -For Glory: No items, [del]Fox only[/del], Final Destination only, wins and losses recorded, one-on-one -Player IDs will appear even in random matches, and you can report abusive players. Abuses being monitored includes idling, repeated disconnects, griefing, cheats, and false reports. Temporary bans will be given out for abuses, with subsequent bans getting longer. -Online stability has been improved since Brawl, but Sakurai recommends picking up an ethernet adapter for Wii U to make sure things stay smooth. -Rather than leaderboards, every player has a Global Smash Power level which is derived from their score in single-player modes. The level is the total number of players they have higher scores than. -Custom movesets are a new feature. They allow you to modify character moves in certain ways, such as replacing Mario's fireballs with a bigger and slower ones or faster and smaller ones, or making DK's head bash really slow but immune to flinching. They're available in local and online friend matches, but not random ones. -The 3DS version has an exclusive mode: Smash Run. It combines elements from Brawl's Subspace Emissary, Melee's Adventure Mode, and Kirby Air Ride's City Trial into a multiplayer roguelike. Players branch out and explore a vast maze world, fighting enemies and collecting stat boosts within a five-minute time limit. When time is up, they take their powered-up fighters into a showdown. This can be a standard battle that may or may not have special conditions like reflect or easy launches, or it can be a stadium mini-game like racing to the top of an obstacle course. It's unknown if the Wii U version will have its own exclusive mode.
Interestingly, left handed armcanons have a practical advantage - the use of the right hand to less awkwardly manipulate things (if you're right handed anyway) Not sure why EXE's is on the right though.
EXE used his right hand for shooting animations within his series. Classic and X used their arms interchangably but when facing the right side of the screen they used their left arms. Even Trigger used his left arm for the buster, the right arm being used for special weapons. I haven't played Starforce, but apparently Geo used his left arm for his buster as well. It's literally accuracy to the characters in their games.
It's not just the moves you can change, it's also your power, agility, attack speed, and damage recoil (from what I can tell) If you let people tweak these, there WILL be a "this is the best way to kit this character" meta which will consume the game. Pokemon is absolute proof of this. [editline]t[/editline] I like the idea, I like it a lot (and will use it excessively), I'm just glad it isn't online.
I don't think you can really avoid the formation of a metagame in a competitive game. Besides, at least with my experience in Pokémon, the mentality of branding certain things as the absolute best, and certain tactics as the only way to use something, is just plain wrong.

The more I think about it the more i'm liking the idea of greninja as a pokemon rep.
The more I think about it the more i'm liking the idea of greninja as a pokemon rep
We needed a Gen 6 rep much like how we had a Gen 4 rep in the form of Lucario for Brawl.
Not sure why EXE's is on the right though. Maybe he's a lefty?
If I had to guess, it would be something to do with standard/X having to transition into running, and .EXE not having to; plus needing it to be the same arm as his sword. Honestly, doesn't really matter. Probably just an insignificant choice made during design.
I kinda wonder now what would happen if Palkia and Skull Kid are on the stage at the same time.
I kinda wonder now what would happen if Palkia and Skull Kid are on the stage at the same time.
The stage swaps once, then swaps again. I don't see what you were going for here.

So it's safe to assume (imo) that all of those will be pokeball assists as well.
Charizard is cool, but I'm gonna be honest, I liked Pokemon Trainer more. Lead with Squirtle or Ivysaur to soften 'em up, then send in Charizard to knock 'em out with Rock Smash. I just don't get why Gamefreak (and Nintendo as a whole) are going so nuts as of late. It's not like he's the best Pokemon. I'm almost a little burned out (no pun intended) on Charizard; every single time you see a "THERE ARE ONLY 151 POKEMON, NEW GAMES ARE DIGIMON GARBAGE, 90'S KIDZ 4 LYFE" post, they're championing him as their fuggin' Pokemessiah. I'm still hyped, but I would have much preferred Pikachu, Pokemon Trainer, Jigglypuff, and Greninja in place of Lucario.
